Writing is excellent but she’s in sore need of a good editor. In addition to the grammatical mistakes, facts get changed from story to story. In the last book in fact it happens within a page! One thing that always bothers me about series is the need to redescribe the characters and the settings. In these books it takes a lot of verbiage which is so annoying to a reader like me, I tend to skim-over these passages. With these books it seems difficult to keep track of everything so things change. My suggestion would be to have a introduction at the beginning that sets out the placement of all the shops and the town so the reader could just go back to the introduction to refresh the memory or to learn about the town.

Some positive, some negative

On the positive side: the characters are good people, it’s hard to guess the villain, the town feels like a place you’d want to visit.

On the negative side: the characters are not fleshed out to become people, the relationships don’t become what you are led to believe, there are far too many errors in the text…words out of order, words left out or put in twice, wrong name used in the storyline.

Overall, not a bad storyline, definitely a good author, but harder to read or care about with the errors and other negatives.

Needs a good proof reader! So many grammatical errors and errors in the names of people and animals and where they are at different times in the story.
Too much coffee and baking and weak story lines. With the amount of coffee Roxanne drank each day I am surprised she could sleep at night.
Sorry but will not be following up with any more books from this author.

Only read these books if you don’t mind the author completely losing her own plot and forgetting her own details. Don’t even get me started on the crap editing. The about of misspelled words and just flat out wrong words drives me crazy. The total lack of attention to detail astounds me. Sadly, my OCD is such that I’ve read the entire series and onto the witch series which is just as bad. Why she thanks her editor when she’s done such a horrific job editing blows my mind. My kids could have done a better job in elementary school. My 3 star review is being generous. She constantly changed facts she has already given you. I just finished one book where it appears she has left herself notes to go back and fill in the details and those notes somehow made it into the books with asterisks in them. I kid you not. Like author notes to themselves to fix their own plot later. Absolute worst editing job ever. How this got published I’ll never know. I submit corrections on kindle, but honestly it’s literally every single page and I just get tired of it bc it takes the joy out of reading just as all the crap errors take the joy out of reading. If an author can’t keep her own plot line together why should I be bothered to try to follow it? I’m not even sure she’s writing all of them. They honestly seem like she starts them and then lets someone else ghost write them bc the facts are just all over the place. The witch town has perfect sunny weather all the time with no cold or snow. Next book it’s freezing and snowing. lol. In one book the witch goes to Whispering Falls at 28. In another book the witch goes to it at 18. lol. I could go on and on. It’s the other series she has, but it’s just as messed up as this one. If you don’t care about the details it’s an ok read. If you suffer with OCD, have a brain, can spell, & prefer a plot line that doesn’t alter it will drive you mad.

I like the idea of Honey Springs

So much to like - coffee, dogs, coffee, treats, dogs, simple way of life where the community comes together when needed. However, a nosy coffeehouse owner who can't help but get into dangerous situations is both a decent person and annoying. Great that she wants to help her family and friends, but she is an ex-lawyer, not a cop. Even Patrick, who was a cop, keeps his nose out of police business. On the one hand I could see why when it was her family, but not in every situation. Also, I'm exhausted reading about her schedule as a business owner. Good God, get up at 4:30am? Cook all day on Sundays and early mornings? No wonder the idea of kids sends her into a tailspin.

The poor town is getting crazier over time with all of the murders.

Light reading that is entertaining, but has sloppy writing/editing. Likable characters. I live in Kentucky so that is a connection for me. It drives me nuts when details that carry through the series change from one book to the next, also the storyline details can get lost or contradict themselves even from one page to the next. Plots/characters of the books earlier in the series seemed to be a little more well developed, and there are more mistakes and rushed plots in the last few. I've not read Book 11 yet, although I probably will download and read it to finish this series.

Great Series

Wonderful down to earth characters. Great setting in a small coffee shop In a Kentucky town that is turning into a year around resort area. The town’s crime rate is picking up with people being murdered. The owner of the coffee shop who was formerly a lawyer helps the town’s citizens and the sheriff solve the crimes. I love the series and the week reading all ten books.

cozy mystery box set

Some very funny parts but becomes same old same old. Roxy can’t keep her nose out of a murder, regardless of what her husband wants. After a few books I was not engaged and had to force myself to finish the box set. I will not go into book 11 as it’s okayed itself out.

Engaging enough story lines. Poorly edited. Names of characters not consistently spelled the same in all the various books, eg. Penny becomes Penney, Fiona becomes Fione. And references to one male character switches to another eg. Mark becomes Alan (who is dead) and other times a character is introduced but not given a name, only to be referred to two paragraphs or so later by a name we hadn't had before. Also, author misuses I and me, I know that might be colloquial for the region, but the character is a college educated lawyer who should speak better. Also, in an interview the author herself says, "me and ..." went somewhere, and a good editor should have caught that.

If you can overlook these short comings the stories will keep your attention.

DNFed the first book around the 1/3rd mark. I thought the writing was a bit stilted and characters seemed one dimensional. This was not for me, sorry.

While I have enjoyed the stories in this series, I am not a fan of the typo's. When the story states that the sheriff is talking to Mrs. X and in the very same sentence change the name of Mrs. X to another character completely that makes it very hard to figure out just what is going on! This has happened several times which is why my rating is going down on this series.
