Landmark book. Loved this one. I already adore Shakespeare, but to get a glimpse into what his daily life might have been like, from the perspective of the people who knew him best, is fascinating. Well written and researched.

This book, published in 1955, is meant to be read by youth. It is quite informative about Shakespeare, his life in London, and the writings that he did. I was expecting more about the Globe Theater, and there was information about it, but it was not the focus of the book, as the title seemed to indicate. The author must have really liked Shakespeare's play Julius Caesar, for there were four chapters about it, going into great detail of the plays actions and speeches. Even so, any reader would learn about Shakespeare and his writings.
