"I Need A Mommy For My Daughter And I'm Willing To Marry To Get One."

Texas developer Grady McCabe is in the market for a wife--in name only. Alexis Graham's job is to find him the ideal candidate. But only one woman seems to fit the sexy single dad's conditions. And she's not available.

That doesn't stop Grady from popping the question to the widowed matchmaker. And the take-charge scion of the legendary McCabe clan isn't used to taking no for an answer.

Impossible as father and daughter are to resist, Alexis has her own rules for dating. Marrying for love is at the top of her list. So it looks as if she won't be getting her secret wish to be part of Grady's family. Unless she can change a certain Texan's mind and heart....

Dear Readers,

The love stories in my family have always been fodder for romance novels.

My maternal grandmother and grandfather simultaneously ran a business together and raised four daughters, long before it was an accepted thing to do.  Grandpa O’Dell ran the gas station and the barber shop; Grandma O’Dell managed the grocery and cooked for customers.  They were true partners and madly in love and parted, tragically, way too soon when he succumbed to cancer when he was in his early fifties.  Grandma grieved deeply but eventually picked herself up, started a new career as a cafeteria chef, and eventually found deep romantic love and happiness again, in the form of a second marriage.

Sweet, surprisingly grown-up romance. Grady is looking for a new mother for his daughter and turns to matchmaker Alexis to set up a marriage of convenience. They of course fall in love instead. The thoughts and discussions they have about what marriage is all about, how you know it's true love, and what is important to a child when a parent remarries are all thoughtful and realistic. The little girl is a real sweetie, but speaks and acts her age - as do her nasty K classmates! I also really liked how slowly their physical relationship grows. They give in to it, but don't act like they have no control over their hormones. All in all a good read and a pleasant change of pace from the ridiculously bad novellas from earlier this week.

I thought this was a wonderful novel. At first I was concerned about the whole positioning of the charachters but Cathy handles it very well. I thought the charachters themselves were dynamic and endearing and that they move together to create a happy and caring union. I would however have liked to see the end a little less rushed. And, as a rule, I don't like epilogues much.

This was a cute story. The writing was good, though I would have written differently in several places. Not a lot of action or intensity going on between the two main characters. All in all it was a nice heartwarming story.
