1.5 ⭐️
I didn't like this collection of stories. The first one was the only good one, unfortunately.
Here are my thoughts on each book!
(⚠️SPOILERS AHEAD⚠️)
BOOK 1 ↘️The Dwelling Place
Okay, this first story rocked!
I was surprised by this first story because I've read 2 novels by Y'Barbo before- one being trash (1 ⭐️) and the other was just "okay".
I loved ALL of the characters in this story! (Sophie, Ezra, Nell, Amanda, Chloe, Bree, & Calvin!)
I was bored in the beginning, but then by page 55 I was getting good vibes and butterflies! 🦋
This story was written pretty well and while there were some parts that could've been taken out entirely, I loved it!
Ezra is a good guy at heart and the twins weren't annoying! Usually kids in books are annoying as heck, but Amanda and Chloe were nice and not in the story TOO much. 😁
Ezra is just so nice. He was a great character and when he got over being grumpy about Sophie and started to just get to know her, he was great.
Sophie doesn't really have any personality at all, which was a tad disappointing, but it's okay because Y'Barbo focused more on Ezra and that's my favorite in a book, when the main male character is nice! I love males so much more in stories!
I was hoping that Sophie's telling Ezra about her last wedding (to Jim, the Marine, who left her at the altar) would be a cute moment of bonding between them, but Y'Barbo missed her shot and it fell flat.
That damn Miss Emmeline was annoying as heck, but whatever. She wasn't in the book much. She just kept popping up to bother Sophie and Ezra about the upcoming event and the speech Sophie was writing.🤦🏻♂️
I liked the surprise at the end, Ezra showing up at the event and telling Sophie that he loves her and then proposing!
Ezra said he gave up his pentagon job and he even got to retain his title as Lieutenant Colonel - see? God works everything out in the end!
I thought the story was cool, but then in the end (the epilogue), while Ezra and Sophie are going through Nell's old diary, they find a picture of the twins and a note that reads, "My brother Robert Boudreaux's daughters (Ezra's half-sisters) with Sophie on Adoption Day."
They are blood relatives of Ezra!! And its so sweet because before Ez and Soph got married, he told her that he liked the twins and that they felt like family to him somehow!!!... little did they know...! Wow. Just wow. Very cute ending. Y'Barbo even mentions that Sophie is pregnant by Ezra a year later. 👍🏼
Book 2 ↘️ Wedded Bliss
So boring... and I the author doesn't make you want to like any of the characters.
Totally forgettable!
Book 3 ↘️ Building Dreams
I hated the "middleman" talk. It was used similarly to the common phrase, "last fling". Not very Christian. And why did she mention it as Ted was proposing?! Not very nice or classy.
I hate how Ted and Bob are getting onto Landon About his "problems"
Y'Barbo doesn't write in her main female characters in very well at all. They are drab and so useless.
Lise wasnt even Christian it seemed like.
