A young boy pretends to be a princess while dancing in his mother's clothes. His older cousin calls him a weirdo and makes him feel self-conscious until his understanding mother talks with him.
I found this book in the 'common room' during a family getaway, and was well impressed. It's a delightful tale that supports the notion of kids feeling free to be themselves. Max is happy and feels beautiful while wearing a dress and 'swaltzing', and good for him! His cousin doesn't understand, but his mother does, and that's more than enough to ensure a happy ending.
I'm very glad to find such good-hearted and unequivocal tales are available these days.
A boy plays dress up with his mother's clothes and pretends to be a princess. His family is supportive but his older cousin calls him a "weirdo" and deflates his playful mood, making him feel self-conscious. His mother helps him come to terms with this situation.
A really great book. I wish I could get it in the US.
