Once I got acquainted with the ins, outs and what-have-yous of the characters and setting I got HOOKED. I'd have them all already if I had the $

Walt Kelly's approach and execution of current events satirization (you know what I mean) is my favorite because
Very intelligent
Cunning in attack
Not editorial blunt
Visually adorable
Always relevant
No "filler" panels
I could add so many more but that's enough for this review.

AND you can enter surprisingly deep within Walt's psyche because once entrenched you can tell Pogo acts as he would in the situation and see how those in the ever-present cast represent the extremes of human persona as he sees them. He had the guts -the swinging stones- to expose himself in such a manner when being candid could be catastrophic.
