While the recipes I’ve tried have been very tasty, I have mixed feelings about the book. The photos are pretty, and I do like the way the ingredients are broken down into elements like topping, dough, etc. However, I don’t like the way the index is organized, and I find some of the instructions to be vague or out of order. I also wish there were some substitutions for some of the ingredients, especially quark. The German teacher at work informed me that I should be able to use ricotta or maybe cream cheese, but I wish an option or two would have been specified, as even buttermilk is difficult to find in my area. All that said, I would still recommend this book, but perhaps not to beginning bakers.
I’m not even halfway through this cookbook, but I just know it’s for me. The rest of the book could be about broccoli cheesecake for all I know, and I don’t even care. I’ve seen enough recipes that I can’t wait to try that if the rest of this book is a dud, it won’t even matter. Sold.
But really there are only two recipes I would personally make the rest I would try at a restaurant or bakery bc it’s too much for home unless you are entertaining
