What in the bleu blazes is happening in Yarrow Glen now?
Cheesemongers from across the Northwest have come to the Sonoma Valley for the Northwest Cheese Invitational. As owner of the local cheese shop, Curds & Whey, Willa Bauer loves it. The event showcases custom cheese creations, and it’s the perfect time to gather with old colleagues to honor her former boss, the late and grate cheese legend, Max Dumas. He was famous for journeying into the wild bleu yonder to where he aged his award-winning custom Church Bleu. Only Max knew the recipe and location to his beloved cheese, and many are eager to have these revealed at his will reading.
But instead of naming someone to inherit his cheese and its secrets, Max stuns everyone with one cryptic clue. When a fellow cheesemonger dies under mysterious circumstances––the woman they all thought would get the secrets to Max's prized possession––everyone falls under suspicion. Willa adores Church Bleu as much as the next cheese connoisseur, but it’s not to die for. Is a killer trying to get away with murder...and the cheese?

Case of The Bleus is another enjoyable mystery featuring Willa Bauer and her Curds & Whey cheese shop, set in a small town in California. This time, the mystery involves trying to find out where Max, Willa’s former employer and mentor, hid his rare/custom blue cheese, called Church Bleu, after the cheese shop he owned, which occupied a former church. Church Bleu won several prizes over the years and no one knows how Max made the cheese, where he made it and where he aged it. Now that he’s died, his cheese shop employees as well as his formerly-estranged daughter, are all on the hunt for this mysterious and valuable cheese. Sounds a bit loony, but the author made it all very believable. All these people are in Yarrow Glen for the Northwest Cheese Society Invitational, when Willa receives a mysterious letter from Max, via his lawyer, with a riddle, for Willa to solve, even though she’s not mentioned in his will. In addition to the puzzle of the blue cheese, there’s a murder to be solved.
This series features fun regulars like Mrs. Schultz and Archie who work at Curds & Whey, Willa’s neighbor and friend Baz, Roman who makes mead, and Heath, the local detective, who may or may not become a love interest for Willa. The small town vibe is delightful.
I guarantee you will hungry for cheese after reading this book, even if blue cheese isn’t your favorite. (There are a few recipes at the end of the book too.)
Although this is the fourth in a series, I think this would work fine as a standalone.
Thank you to NetGalley and Minotaur Books for the opportunity to read a review copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
#TEAMCHEESE TO THE RESCUE!! Another winner for Korina Moss! Moss always manages to suck me right into the streets of yarrow glen for the fun adventures of Willa and the gang! This one was super exciting, and of course had me guessing till the end! I highly recommend this to any cozy mystery lover or cheese lover as the recipes sound divine! I would like to thank netgalley, the author Korina Moss, and the publisher for the opportunity to review this book!
I thoroughly enjoyed Case of the Bleus. It is the fourth novel in the Cheese Shop Mystery series, but I didn’t have a problem reading it as a standalone.
Unlike most cozy mysteries, Case of the Bleus wasn’t heavy-handed with atmosphere. There was a lot more drama and suspense, especially due to the numerous plot twists. And because the novel is really two mysteries in one, I was kept guessing on the who, what, when, where, and why.
I loved all of the characters in the novel. And although the characters are new to me, I still managed to get sense of their personalities. The main characters of Willa, Archie, and Mrs. Schultz (Team Cheese as they called themselves,) were a joy to follow. I especially enjoyed the comic relief from Archie — the youngest of the group. And Mrs. Schultz with all of her wisdom balanced out the group’s dynamics.
Author Moss has done an excellent job of balancing the cozy atmosphere with the thrill of an adrenalin-filled mystery. Moss is a new to me author that I will add to my list of favorites. And extra kudos to her for sharing the recipes for those mouthwatering dips and spreads mentioned in her novel. Five delectable stars.
I received a DRC from St. Martin’s Press through NetGalley. The review herein is completely my own and contains my honest thoughts and opinions.
This is one of my favorite cozy mystery series. I love all the cheese references although I'm not expert on the subject lol This time Team Cheese is hot on the case of the mysterious making of Church Bleu and the murder of Willa's former co-worker, Kendall.
Grab this one and enjoy as you follow the mystery and salivate with all the food references lol
I sincerely appreciate the publisher and NetGalley for the review copy. All opinions expressed are my own.
There's nothing like a good fromage bleu. And the citizens and visitors to Yarrow Glen attending a cheese invitational learn that to their consternation when someone ends up dead, an older mystery presents itself and everyone is clamoring for the secret to Willa's former boss and fromagerie idol's super secret blue cheese recipe and aging site. Everyone wants it and nobody has it, but they think others have it and... well... mayhem and murder ensues.
At first there were (what I perceived at least) little plot holes that were starting to annoy me. And Willa made (again, what I perceived at least) dumb mistakes. But I was pleased to see at the end that the story veered just a little bit off course to the typical formula. And the twist at the end... that was better than Rogue Creamery's (a real cheese place that i personally love) smoky blue.
Not my favorite of the series, but that ending really brought it home for me.
It is time for the Northwest Cheese Invitational and this year it is being held in Yarrow Glen. Making the event even more special for local cheese shop owner, Willa Bauer is that her former boss Max Dumas is being honored following his death. He was a cheese legend who created the award-winning Church Bleu. His colleagues, most worked with Willa, will be in attendance and also will attend the reading of his will. He had never shared his recipe or where he aged his special bleu cheese so it is assumed that for production of the cheese to continue he will name a successor and award his secrets to them.
Max Dumas was truly one of a kind and instead of naming one person to follow in his footsteps he just leaves a mystifying clue for them to follow. When one of his colleagues and Willa's closest friend in the group, the person everyone thought would be named in the will is murdered, all the others quickly make up the list of suspects. Willa loves Max's cheese but never expected anyone to get killed over it. Everyone really seems to have a case of the bleus. Willa and Team Cheese need to solve Max's clue in hopes that it will bring the real killer to light before they get really cheesed off and kill again.
______
I truly love the characters in this series. Willa has grown so much, she has her flaws but she is open and truthful and can admit when she is wrong. She feels so genuine and I am so happy with the way the author is allowing her to evolve realistically.
Willa is surrounded by a great supporting cast. Mrs. Schultz is a treasure and a great friend. She is wise and has a huge heart. Archie is facing some new things in this story and finds himself in need of advice. Thankfully, he has Willa and Mrs. Schultz to turn to. Baz is also a good friend and part of Team Cheese. Roman and Willa are trying to keep their friendship after their breakup, while Willa is focused elsewhere in the romance department. All these characters are believable and true to life.
The new characters introduced in this story were not easy to like, except for the deceased Max, they all had an agenda. I would have loved to know Max. He was a prankster and must have been fun to be around.
The story had two mysteries to solve. Who killed Max? And where is the last of Max's cheese, its recipe, and the aging spot? The murder mystery had many twists and turns. The means was apparent right away but who the killer was and how they pulled it off was difficult to determine. I love the way Willa and her friends gather, Team Cheese, to sort through clues and seek answers. Willa has a big idea to draw out the killer but it is risky and could cost her in more ways than one. The reveal was dramatic and scary. I was partially right in my thinking but the way everything played out was surprising.
The second mystery was a true puzzle. Max had really thought out what would happen if he passed away and had a unique way to make his wishes known. That reveal was priceless, heartwarming, and absolutely perfect.
With the recent passing of Jimmy Buffet, I love the references to him in the book. I know he was still alive when Ms. Moss wrote this story but I have to say the popular bar in this series, The Cellar, doing a Jimmy Buffet Weekend, serving Cheeseburgers In Paradise and It's Five O'Clock Somewhere margaritas while playing all his songs was a nice tribute.
Case of the Bleus is an awesome addition to this series. I loved everything about this story. Engaging characters that have grown by leaps and bounds since the first book, Cheddar Off Dead, 2 superb mysteries, and all that cheese was more than A Perfect Escape. It was A Trip to Paradise, complete with a virtual Cheeseburger in Paradise. I had to give it my highest rating and add it to My Best Reads of 2023! I can't wait for the next book in this series!
This is my favorite of the series so far. I enjoyed following the clues with Willa and her friends to find the cheese, all the while trying to solve the mystery and keep everyone safe. Despite all of this going on, the story moved at a snail’s pace, preferring to focus on minutiae of everyone’s day rather than advancing the story. I still haven’t warmed to Willa and it’s possibly because she doesn’t seem authentic. While I love learning about the different cheeses, I think this series is just not for me.
This is the fourth book in the series by Korina Moss. It can be read as a stand alone. I will definitely be going back to read the others. It kept me guessing until the end. If you haven't met Willa and the gang yet, I recommend that you do! I won this as a Giveaway from Goodreads. Thank you Goodreads! Thanks to the author and St. Martin's Press for my free copy.
I was so happy to get to read this book in Korina Moss’s Cheese Shop Mysteries. I love this series and this one did not disappoint.
Team Cheese reminds me so much of Scooby Doo’s gang 😂.
There was a lot of twists and turns for this scrappy gang as they try to figure out all the clues being sent to Willa.
Her current love interest is thoroughly aggravated with our scrappy cheesehead heroine. He just needs to join all the other aggravated cozy boyfriends and take a chill pill.
5 stars and very much looking forward to the next book.
Thank you NetGalley for letting me read this ARC. All opinions are my own
Case of the Bleus is the fourth book in the wonderful Cheese Shop series. Cheese shop owner Willa Bauer is enjoying getting together with other cheesemakers at the Northwest Cheese Invitational in the Sonoma Valley. Then a killer strikes and Willa is determined to solve a murder, even when it puts her at odds with the police detective who is leading the case - and who happens to be someone Willa is interested in dating.
Besides the delicious sounding cheeses, my favorite part of this series is the friendship between Willa, her neighbor, Baz, and her two employees at the shop Archie and Mrs. Schultz. "Team Cheese" is there for each other on the job, in their personal lives, and when investigating a case. Their friendship also provides a contrast to the sometimes toxic relationship between Willa's former co-workers who are in town.
The way the classic book Rebecca is worked into the plot is wonderful. I also liked how Mrs. Schultz's former career as a drama teacher comes in handy during the case. I didn't care for the decisions Willa makes in the investigation and the consequences they have in her personal life. I still love this series, however, and recommend it to all cozy lovers looking for a well-written series with a strong, likable main character.
I received an advance copy of this book from NetGalley, St. Martin's Press/Minotaur but my review is voluntary and unbiased.
What can I possibly say about how much I adored Case of the Bleus by Korina Moss that won't come across as incredibly CHEESY?
It was layered and complex like one of the cheeses Willa would serve in her shop - a mystery within a mystery within a mystery!
I love #TeamCheese - Willa and her inner circle are endlessly delightful! The town is fun and charming. And the suspects are all twisty and multi-dimensional. And the payoff in the end? *chef's kiss* Or, should I say *cheesemonger's kiss*?
OMG this was my favorite thus far… the clues and the Rebecca tie in. Chef’s kiss!!! Was on the edge of my seat and could not put it down!!! I adore Willa and the whole Team Cheese group!!! I soooo want Baz to win 💖💖💖 This is my favorite newer cozy series for sure! 100⭐️
I received an advance copy of the book via NetGalley (as I have the previous volumes in the series).
A Case of Bleus is the fun fourth book in a series set in a fictional small town in northern California, where Willa Bauer owns a French-styled cheese shop and has a habit of solving murders. In this book, a big regional cheese conference is being held in her town and is going to celebrate the life of a former boss of hers who recently died--but is it really a memorial, or a chance for greedy scrambling? A number of people--employees, a cheese association head honcho, an estranged daughter--all have a stake in the fate of the boss's famous blue cheese. No one else knows how it was made or where it was aged, and the secret is supposed to be revealed during a will-reading at the conference. When someone is murdered and Willa starts getting clues about the blue cheese, she relies on her loyal group (Team Cheese!) to find out whodunnit.
The book is a fun, breezy read. There were a few points where the cheese lingo felt awkward and the plot forced, but overall, it was highly enjoyable, with a nicely complicated resolution.
This was such a great book! I love this series and each book just gets better. On the mystery front there were several story lines to follow. Who murdered Kendall? Was Max murdered as well? Where is the recipe to the Church Bleu? Who keeps stealing the book Rebecca that all clues leads back to? I loved trying to untangled the mysteries alongside Willa and her friends, Archie, Baz, Mrs. Schultz and Roman and join along on the treasure hunt. They are all such great characters that balance each other out perfectly. There are some big personal changes going on for some of them, especially in the romance arena, and I loved how they had each other to support and banter with. Also….please include more of Willa’s inner dialogue! She’s so funny and completely spot on.
Absolutely the most interesting mystery to date. The hunt is on for the recipe for a very special Blue cheese. After the memorial service from Willa's mentor there is a murder. Several suspects emerge though Willa is the one that's sent the clues to follow. Enter Team Cheese to help with the investigation despite warnings from police not to. I loved this ending.
When a prestigious cheese festival comes to Yarrow Glen, excitement runs through the town, but especially to the staff of Curds & Whey, and it's owner, Willa Bauer. The Invitational will honor her former late employer and his exceptional Bleu cheese which won best of show for an incredible three years. It's going to be the first time she'll see her former friends and co-workers in more than a year. Once they arrive in town, Willa picks up on tension between them concerning who will inherit the shop and the secret recipe to the moneymaker cheese. As on the first two books in this series, the mystery is solid and kept me guessing until the end. And Willa's friends, current and past, are well drawn characters that add to the enjoyment of the story. Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.
This was a fun mystery/treasure hunt! When Willa Bauer gets together with some of her old work friends at a cheese convention, the biggest topic of discussion is who will inherit the recipe for Max Dumas' amazing bleu cheese. But Max liked puzzles, and his death leads them all on a deadly hunt to see who will find it first.
I liked the premise and thought the hunt was a lot of fun. I did get a little mixed up with all of the characters at the start - it probably didn't help that I was in a busy place and I haven't read previous books in the series. But once I was a bit into the book, everything was fine and I clearly enjoyed it because I read it quite quickly.
Aaaand we're back--in another cozy mystery that mentions the word 'cheese' more times than you can count!
Whew boy, and here we go again!
This time, it's cheesey all over as a cheese convention makes its way to Yarrow Glen. The star of the show is a super-rare blue cheese, which is even more valuable now that its creator--who was the only one who knew the secret of the cheese--has passed away. Because he was Willa's old mentor, she is excited to preserve his memory and honour him, but....everyone else is just interested in the cheese.
Even to the point of murder.
So now Team Cheese--Willa, Baz, Archie, and Mrs. Schultz--is back on the case!
____________________
The mystery of finding out the secret of the cheese is compelling in and of itself, but what also helps is that the motive is constantly shifting and hidden, as just about everyone seems to have had a reason for it and wants the rare cheese. It was really great to see Willa's crew working together so well to figure things out, and this time they're also joined by Roman, who is by this point and also works really well with the group.
Another thing I really loved is the direction that Willa's relationship with Detective Heath is progressing. We're not quite at the romance stage yet, but I have high hopes for the next book moving forward! (And also, we finally get a mention of Heath's first name in this one! Did you know that until now, he's just referred to as 'Detective Heath' and we never get a first name? Ahem-hem-hem, until now, that is, and his first name's just as hot as his last name, but find that out for yourself in reading this!)
All in all, I really liked this new addition as well and...well, just can't wait for our next cheesey mystery!
Maybe a few title suggestions so I can guess?
+ Whatever Will Brie, Will Brie + When Feta Comes Knocking + Swiss of Death

When a renowned legend in the cheese world dies a certain group of cheesemongers are hoping to inherit his secrets. But who? When one of the group who happens to have a known allergy to honey succumbs to exposure there’s no way it could be accidental. At least that is what the attendees of the Northwest Cheese Invitational believe. Local cheesemonger Willa Bauer and her crew are once again on the case, much to the consternation of the local police. But will they be able to help solve the mystery?
Case of the Bleus was an okay read for me but had me wishing for a faster pace. I finished the book but skimmed along the way – not how I want to read but that’s how it went. I will probably call it a day with this series.
2.5 rounded up because of the yummy recipes at the end.
I've read the other titles in this series and enjoyed them, but this one didn't measure up. It seems Willa and her pals don't care if they jeopardize themselves while they investigate no matter what Detective Heath asks. Some old friends of Willa's are on the trail of a famous bleu cheese invented by their mentor, now dead. He leaves clues as to where they can find his secret, but not before someone is murdered. Really a 2.5 stars book.
I wasn’t that interested in the mystery because I found the whole plot of fighting over cheese a bit silly. I also found it silly everyone was chasing after this cheese. Someone gets killed over it which didn’t make sense. I liked the characters though. They all come across as a found family, which is one of my favourite tropes.
The newest cheese shop mystery finds Willa investigating when a former colleague is murdered at a cheese invitational. Willa's colleagues from her previous cheese shop are in Yarrow Glen for the reading of the will of Max Church, Willa's old boss. They are all on edge because he has left behind a legacy for his bleu cheese and they all want to inherit. However, one of them winds up murdered, and Willa finds herself pulled in when she realizes Max has been sending her clues to the cheese's location.
Another good entry in this series! We got some good relationship development/complications with Willa and Heath. I also like the various side characters story developments too. I appreciate that Moss thinks about even the supporting characters in terms of character development and not just the protagonist. I look forward to seeing where Willa's cheese adventures take her next!
I received my copy from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
#CaseoftheBleusACheeseShopMystery #NetGalley is the next book in this series by Korina Moss. Willa Bauer and her staff are preparing for the cheese invitational, an event where cheesemongers can share their love of all things cheese. Willa's mentor, Max, is being honored for creating the best blue cheese, but his death has everyone scrambling to get his secret recipe. When her old coworkers gather for a picnic, one of them suddenly falls ill, and Willa finds herself wrapped up in another murder investigation. This series is fun to read, and all the characters are entertaining and add color to this series. Who knew cheese could be so deadly. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for selecting me to read an advanced copy of this book
When cheesemaster Max Dumas died, the staff of his cheese shop thought he would leave the secret to his bleu cheese to one of them. But none of them received the secret, nor did his long-estrange daughter. Willa, who used to work for Max, is glad to welcome her former colleagues to the Sonoma Valley for a cheese convention, but they seem to have brought murder with them, as they fight over clues to Max's secret. Then Willa starts to find clues--could Max have kept the secret for the one person who doesn't want it?
Yarrow Glen calls out to me! I need to visit Curds and Whey, sit with Mrs. Schultz, chat with Archie and Willa and eat cheese! In Case of the Bleus some of Willa's former coworkers are in town for a cheese festival. The honored cheese is Church Bleu created by their now deceased former boss, Max. The battle is on for the secrets of the cheese. Everyone thinks they should be the one Max left it to. As a puzzle and riddle enthusiast, he made it a challenge. Sadly the challenge results in a murder and Willa and Team Cheese are deeply involved, aggravating Willa's love interest Detective Jay Heath to no end. There were a number of suspects to be investigated and every time the team thought they had cleared one, something came up to put them right back in the mix. I was guessing right up to the end as Willa once again gets herself into a pretty dicey place before help arrives. Make yourself a tasty cheese sandwich, cheese board, pot of cheese fondue and read this series!
It’s no secret that I adore this series and this book is just as great. There is mystique around a world renowned cheese that is creating tons of drama. Full of puzzles and riddles, this book had so many aspects to enjoy, and of course the friendships that keep bringing us back to Yarrow Glen. The thing that really pulls me toward this series (other than the delectable sounding cheese) is the town. The descriptions make you want to walk along the street and visit all the shops, then go to the park for the farmers market. The people and community that Willa has surrounded herself with are such a great group and I love how they work together and take care of each other. I also have a secret hope for a romance to bloom, but it seems that might not happen or might go slowly. I enjoyed this very twisty story!
I love this book and I love this series. Korina Moss has written another great book. I love when Willa and the rest of Team Cheese get together and work on solving a murder. It's like visiting old friends getting to read about what all the characters are up to. It was a really fun read and I can't wait to read what happens next.
