"There's nothing easy about being a mother. Women need the support and input of other moms. In "No Ordinary Home", the author addresses these needs from a biblical perspective, sharing her own personal experience of leaving a job she loved and dealing with issues of self-worth and identity that accompanied her decision to become a stay-at-home mom.
This was a cute book. It was encouraging in some way to focus on creating a home, routines and traditions that show Jesus to our children. I found the practices the author proposed way too elaborate thou. Another flaw I found was that the author seemed to be flying solo in this endeavor rather than with the support and guidance of a local church.
Over all, I enjoyed reading this book but idk if I’ll be putting many of these things in practice.
This book was so encouraging to me when I read and re-read it during my babies' brief naps.
I think if I'd read it a couple of years ago, I would've thrown it across the room. The importance of having a supportive spouse can't be underestimated!
For those who don't, I'm grateful that Mrs Brazo mentions the benefit of having godly friends. We need loving companions to help us love ALL THE TIME!
I like what Sandi Esry says that, "you feel as if you are reading her blog." First thing this morning, I googled 'Carol Brazo,' hoping to find the latest update. (It looks as if she's gone back to teaching. I love a happy ending!)
I LOVED this book. It has really lit a fire in me! Too bad it seems to be out of print. I am going to hunt down a reasonably-priced copy!! Excellent book.
Some outdated references (to be expected) and in desperate need of rebranding, but I loved this book! The author has good humor and a comfortable writing style. I love how intentional yet practical she was with discipling her children and creating a home that made room for the Spirit to move. Lots of things to ponder on, discuss with my husband, and implement in my own life.
This book has reformed our home regarding the Sabbath in particular. I give it 5 stars for that. I think it has some very practical yet also heartfelt sharing....good for an internal reordering of your home life being anchored in Christ....focused on Christ. This is a book I will recommend to any mother with young children....or older children for that matter. I just wanted to note that this is a book for those who are weary in spirit and who are aware of their desperation for God's intervention in their lives......perhaps that is why I love this book.....
