Look out for The Bump, which will be published on 6th October. I wrote it when my daughter was expecting my first grandchild - now four years old and starting school! I was so aware, when I was writing it, of what a journey pregnancy is, and how women throw their all into it to help their babies grow. It seemed to me that the boundless love and hope and courage of the mum-to-be wasn't very often celebrated. So that's what I set out to do. But I've got to say, words aside, Nicholas Allan's illustrations make this book. They're so soft and sweet and funny. He hits just the right note.

This book is about "Queen Bee" who demands multiple things be done for her. The people around her that she is making these demands to continuously tell her no, not until she says please. Queen Bee becomes outraged about this and locks herself in the dungeon where she screams, "I hate everyone!" Here, another bee comes to her rescue and she asks him for "a hug and a squeeze... please." Queen Bee finally learns her lesson how being nice to others and having good manners is extremely important. This book is an amazing lesson-teaching book for young students about the importance of saying please! I plan to have this book in my classroom if I end up teaching k-2 because I know that I could base a lesson around this book and the importance of having good manners.

This book was about a Queen Bee who bossed all her servants around and never said please. Her servants didn't do what they were told because they thought she wasn't being polite. Queen Bee felt that everyone hated her so she went and locked herself underground in the dungeon. She thought she was stuck down there forever. To her surprise a bee saved her and gave her a hug and a squeeze and told her it makes the world a friendlier place. I really enjoyed this book because the pictures were very bright and vibrant. I also really like how some of the words were bigger than other as well as bolded. I would love to have this book in my future library as a teacher.

I would give this book 5 stars. It is a great book that can teach manners to young children. It shows that people aren't going to be willing to do things for you if you aren't nice about it. This book has great illustrations that really keep you engaged in the story. I would recommend this book to children k-3.

Rich colors and illustrations in this book. This would be a good book to read to children to help them realize that using good manners like "please" goes a long way.
