Lady Juliet De Mar is a confirmed bachelorette and a member of the exclusive London Literary Club, a secret sex club for the more libidinous of the London ton.

After taunting her childhood friend and wealthy sea captain, James Wakefield, with the club's bondage games, she finds herself once again longing for him to be something other than he is—a prude with no interest in sex. At least not with her. Tired of his annual visits that always end in rejection, Juliet decides to kidnap him and bring him to his knees—and to the altar—or end their acquaintance forever.

But her plan backfires when she’s kidnapped herself and taken to the docks. Blindfolded and shackled, she becomes the property of a notorious pirate, the murderous Captain Black, purchased for his pleasure.

When her deepest, erotic fantasies become a dangerous reality, will Juliet be forced into submission?

Or will she learn what she needs to know to master James?

Nicely written smutlet. I always hesitate to give more than 3 stars to anything this short because, well, it's a short story (in this case, I think like 40 pages or less). There's naturally not much to it. But then I'll come across other short stories that are twice as long that just fail, and I am reminded of the value in pieces like this, as well as the talent and effort it takes to not turn a reader off in 40 pages.

Over all, Submission was short, sweet, and spicy, with very few downpoints (the use of "nub" being one, but that can also be chalked up to personal taste). We're given a good sense of the characters and their histories and dynamics within a short amount of words - really a good point. But while it didn't feel necessarily rushed or incomplete, I did find myself wishing for an expanded version. This felt like a good 'sample' story, and I look forward to trying out more of Ms. Vance's works.

Submission is a short novella that satisfies everything I wanted in a quickie erotic romance. Very much loved the historical element and all of the characters!!! Oh, and the BDSM Smex scenes were yummy too!

I'm afraid I felt like this story insulted my intelligence and I couldn't enjoy it. The mystery man was never a mystery and the plot was almost too fluffy and predictable to bear.
