Alien Cradle

Rate this book
Rath Scampion, outer rim scout, explores the barren landscapes of Fenrir just before a Regency Scientific Council plants the seed of a genetically created "alien". Captured trying to steal precious gems from the planet, Rath finds himself entangled in a massive deception. Geneticists created the Fenrites in cloning labs, infusing knowledge of basic agriculture through brain wave technology. As the alien colony takes hold on the once barren planet, researchers discover the Fenrites advancing at an alarming pace, passing quickly through complex stages of industrial and technological growth. As the experiment spirals out of control, Rath must flee Regency controlled space, ending up in the midst of marauders and outcasts. He is caught with no safe haven as the Fenrite disaster spurs on political and military chaos throughout the Regency colonized worlds.

I read the ebook version of this book and loved it! Jeff Inlo does it again! Set in the future...it's a story of space scouts, space pirates, aliens, science, unexplored planets and galaxies, mining for precious gems, the "governments" of the future and just how much trouble the main character Rath Scampion can get into...and believe me, he gets into trouble! You don't know whether to hate the guy or root for him. Sometimes his scruples are less than desirable, but having to live the way he does, you almost feel sorry for him. The story moves along at a good pace and keeps you interested. It's not so full of spacey technical details that you feel lost, but has just enough to make you able to envision the spaceships they use, the planets they go to, etc. All in all, an excellent read...one that people of all ages will like.

Very creative premise and good mix of action, adventure, sci-fi and politics. However, it desperately needs an editor for all the typos, misspellings, capitalization and punctuation errors. They were abundant and very distracting. Ssome parts of the storyline were glossed over too quickly and would have benefited from having more development. In particular, I would have liked to meet more individual characters from Dr. Sinclair's council, rather than hearing only her voice throughout. Jack Lasonelli was an intriguing character that raised many questions about whether the ends justify the means. Overall an interesting and entertaining read, especially considering the price. I received this ebook free on http://www.manybooks.net. Set sometime in the future, the plot revolves around a "government" group trying to prove there is alien life somewhere else in the universe. When they can't find the proof they want, they decide to create their own "alien" race and place it on an empty planet to thrive.

I loved the concept for this book. There are "pirates" who take over a planet, "government" cover-ups, and an explorer who gets caught between all this.

The story has great potential and the writing is very good. However, I thought it dragged in spots, while other areas should have been expanded on a bit more.

Although the concept is interesting and the concept of the story is good, the delivery lacks credibility. The time flow is inconsistent and feels disjointed when switching back and forth between Dr. Sinclair and Rath. Dr. Sinclair's monologues feel contrived and like they are only included to explain the story. Rather than having actual conversations with other characters, she spews long monologues. The typos and grammar errors are distracting and should have been fixed with a good proofread and spell check! There are too many better sci-fi books out there to read, don't waste your time.

This was a pretty good book. Classic space science fiction.

I thought the plot line moved a little fast, that actions in the book seemed to move/progress faster than reasonable.

Also one premise bugged me in that the galaxy was filled with many planets with oxygen atmospheres, yet those same planets had ZERO biologicals. No plant life, nothing at all. But there was oxygen. That I found hard to believe.

Still it was good read and I enjoyed it.

Good concept and plot, but lacks the polish of a more experienced writer. There were enough grammatical and spelling errors to distract me, but the storyline was engaging enough that I was willing to look past those.

This is a nice science fiction book. Good storyline, a group of scientists fake (genetically make) the first alien life to get funding. One man gets stuck in the plot and tries to get out. I give it three stars. I liked it. Very little swearing, no sexual content. I can recommend for teens and up.

Meh.
The creation & study of the Fenrites bordered on interesting but it would have been nice to have more detail on it.
The rest I had to slog through.

Not the best book I've ever read. Jeff Inlo has definitely written better.
