Beverly Marie Inman was born on 23 December 1946 in Tuscumbia, Alabama, USA. Daughter of Doris Marie and Walter D. Inman Jr. A born romantic, she fell in love with The Beauty and the Beast epic at an early age, when her grandfather bought her an illustrated copy of the famous fairy tale. Even before she learned to read and write, her vivid imagination created magical words and fabulous characters inside her mind. Movies fascinated her, and by the time she was seven she was rewriting the movies she saw on television and at the local theater to give them all happy endings. By the age of nine she'd penned her first novel. She wrote short stories, TV scripts, poetry, and novels throughout high school and into college.

After her marriage to Billy Ray Beaver, the "love of her life", and the births of her two children, Beverly continued to be a voracious reader and a devoted moviegoer, but she put her writing aspirations on hold until her children were teenagers. At every age of their lives, from infancy to adulthood, the children had been a true joy to her. She devoted herself to her husband and children and considered herself one of the many selfless "supermoms" who put their family's needs first. She believed she had had it all, just not all at the same time.

In her mid-30s, Beverly returned to her former passion — writing — as a hobby, but before 40, she decided that she wanted to make writing a full-time career. And when she rediscovered an old dream — of becoming a published writer — no one was more supportive of her aspirations than her family. Her children were her greatest cheerleaders and her husband was her biggest supporter. After writing over 40 books and receiving numerous awards and nominations, as well as having books on the USA Today list and consistently on the Waldenbooks bestseller list, her career was indeed a dream come true. Having a fantastic family and fabulous friends, as well as making a living doing the one thing she had loved doing since childhood, she considered herself truly blessed. Beverly died suddenly of heart failure on 21 April 2011.

Guarding Jeannie is the second book of the Protectors Series written by Beverly Barton.
I enjoyed it more than Defending His Own, which I struggled to finish.
Sam Dundee is gorgeous, strong alpha male who does not do emotion and love. His life had been saved six years ago by Jeannie Alverson, an empath (who takes the pain away from others into her body!!!) and who has never forgotten him.
When her life is being threatened by a crazy leader of a cult, she contacts Sam asking for his help. Of course he comes to her rescue!!!! How can he not when she had saved his life!!!!
There are a lot of twists and turns in the story and loads of characters….at times some of the things seem really not plausible…but hey this is a romance novel after all!!!!
What I liked as well is how the author wrote about the heroine being handicapped….it’s really well written. You never feel sorry for her….Jeannie is a warm, loving, caring and strong and she’s prepared to face the obstacles in her life with such an amazing attitude.
This is such a sweet, warm story….even though this is a reissue of the book which was originally written in 1995, it hasn’t dated that much.

Ok reading this has been a struggle for me. h is way tooooooooooo TSTL for my likings. Even though she hired H, Sam to be her bodyguard, she does not listen to him and kept on insisting on things that are not practical. And in this process she came out as selfish female who only thinks about her independence instead of how others will get affected because of her decisions.

h irritated me to the core and I couldn't tolerate her actions beyond 40% of the book. So, DNF!!

A suspenseful novel with lots of twists and turns. I liked the idea of a faith healer pursued by a man who wanted to take advantage of her skills to become successful himself. I liked Sam Dundee, the man who tries to keep Jeannie safe. This book, which has recently been republished on Kindle, was originally published in 1997 as part of The Protectors series. It is a good story, and the author is a good writer.

A young handicapped woman with the gift for healing is targeted by an over the top radical preacher who wants her to join his so called"ministry", because he believes she has healing powers. This book will remind you that not all religions are good religions.

I liked the book, but then I like books with paranormal aspects to them. But even so it was a good romantic suspense. The characters are well rounded, and you care for them...something a lot of authors don't get, how are you supposed to care about the book, without caring about the characters in the book.
Its not like some of Barton's later novels that are so deep, but its a good afternoon read.
