Loch Ness is one of the most popular visitor sites in the world, not simply because of its stunning beauty, but mostly because of the mystery of the monster that may lurk in its waters. Known affectionately as 'Nessie', this elusive creature has been chased with great zeal for over a century and this enthusiasm shows no sign of diminishing.
An amusing and reasonably well informed pamphlet on the famed monster though Lynn Picknett seems to be incapable of being sceptical about any mysterious 'phenomena'. Few people today take the possibility of a monster in the Loch seriously for good scientific reasons.
If you are interested in the search for the monster and are in the vicinity of the Loch, make a point of visiting the Loch Ness Centre in Drumnadrochit. It is surprisingly scientific and intelligently sceptical - one should never say never but the monster looks an unlikely reality.
