I had written out most of a lengthy review of this, but then my computer crashed and didn't save it. I'll try to rewrite as much as I can. Fool is a collection of poems written by my late grandfather, Robert McGovern, with cover art of a wood carving by my aunt. The poems include some thought provoking insightful ones, but also some intended to be humorous or mocking certain aspects of society (Such as "Registering for Social Security"). Some of them, however, are just for his family, such as "For Barbara in September" (Barbara being his wife and my late grandmother).
While I don't generally tend to read poetry, I chose to pick up this book and read it. I'll be honest, I did skip over quite a few poems just because they were quite long, and I tend to enjoy shorter poems, like "Christmas What?", but I did read some of the longer ones and enjoyed them, such as "Elegy for a Dead Confederate". I would definitely recommend this book to fans of poetry, people who occasionally enjoy poetry, and even people who have never given it a chance. This is a great collection of poems.
