I wanted some direction in my life. I feel like I am in a holding pattern of mommyhood-which is a good thing, but there is a time after and I don't want to be caught like a deer in the headlights. So, I have been giving serious thought to what will be next. This book addresses the what you should do, not what you have to do. It talks about different seasons in our lives and why we maybe did a job at 20 that we aren't cut out for at 50. It was good to learn I had gifts, I wasn't sure I did. It talked about where my gifts, values, energy level and interests were best suited. All in all, there weren't earth shattering surprises but it was a good kick in the pants!

We were apart of a group at church that studied this book. Really helped clarify where I'm headed and how to reach my goals and integreting spirituality into my decision making process.

Found it very helpful in helping me define parts of myself or validate my current understanding.

Great place to start if looking for your purpose. If you don’t believe in God, there are other books you might consider instead.

I gave this book four stars not because I necessarily loved it but it's a good book for what it is. I say that because I got this book ages ago when I was a practicing Christian and I would not necessarily say that I respond to religious books now. Any reader choosing this would likely be religious although the title doesn't necessarily make that clear. What this book does well, though, is cover a number of ways to do just as it promises - discover who you are. There are short chapters on the Myers-Briggs, Holland's personality types, spiritual gifts, etc. where you can try to figure out who you are, where you match or conflict with your current life, and where you want to go. It has a simple music metaphor that carries throughout the book and some simple exercises to help you classify yourself. I've seen other books do more justice to each of the types of classification but for something that covers a lot, it's a good basic. The copy I have includes notes for a group leader so this would be an excellent resource for a small Bible study group or something like that to work on together. This isn't a book I plan to keep on my shelf but it's a good piece for the right reader.

I think this was a great book. I read it and studied it weekly as a class at my church. I also used the workbook and I enjoyed it. I think that finding your purpose is something you have to figure out for yourself but this book will definitely help. It helps you discover your life gifts, spiritual gifts, values, personality type, and passions then how you can put those together to fulfill your purpose at your job, volunteering, at church, etc. Altogether good book recommended for new christians, old christians, and anyone really questioning why they are here.
It is not a typical "finding your purpose" book. It does not just preach to you. It gives you the keys through inventories and open ended questions to figure things out for yourself.

On my que to be read. more as a matter of curiosity and self improvement. Its a little late for me to discover who I am, why I am here, and what I do best.
If I havent figured it out by now; I have bigger problems than what this book can help me with.
still I like this type of book so it's on my que to be read. You never know, I might learn something.

A good book to get people thinking about life and gifts and all the rest. The book had some good ideas and although I perhaps didn't discover exactly who I am, I made some good steps.

I like how this book covers life gifts (skills / natural talents), spiritual gifts, values, passions, and aligning it all with biblical servanthood.

This book can be a life changing experience

I read this book as part of a men's group, but have found that it is shining a bright light on my own life, helping me to discern where I am and where I should be going.

I hope to have the opportunity to share this with many others in the coming years to aid them in charting their own personal path to love and serve God.
