(Meredith Music Resource). Teaching Music with Passion is a one-of-a-kind, collective masterpiece of thoughts, ideas and suggestions about the noble profession of music education. Both inspirational and instructional, it will surely change the way you teach (and think) about music. Filled with personal experiences, anecdotes and wonderful quotations, this book is an easy-to-read, essential treasure! "One of the most 'real' writings I have read during my 35 years in music education." Mel Clayton, President, MENC: The National Association for Music Education
If I could give this book 6 stars I would. Of course, you would pretty much have to be a music teacher to even want to read this, but if you happen to be a music teacher, you will understand why this book is so valuable. I already feel like a better teacher! I have learned so much from Dr. Boonshaft, and am eager to try so many of these ideas on my own classes. More than that, though, this book has given me a renewed dignity and appreciation for what it is I have been trying to do the last 24 years as I have given thousands of students the gift of music. Wow. FANTASTIC!
I saw Boonshaft speak in person and as an educator, he was one of the best speakers I have ever encountered. He's a brilliant music educator, but furthermore he's a passionate educator which I admire completely. I recommend these books to every educator out there, not just for musicians.
Highly recommended for all music teachers, this book is both inspiring and practical. It's all about purposeful communication, using the various tools we have, while maintaining the joy and love we have for music. I appreciated the many great quotes, sound advice, and inspiring stories in the book.
