A lone USAF pilot, about to warn his superiors of the attack on Pearl Harbor, finds his craft suddenly crash-landing on a mysterious island populated with prehistoric creatures and soldiers of wars of the past, present and future -- including Tomahawk, Firehair, and Hans Von Hammer, the Enemy Ace! What bizarre force has compelled these military masters of every era to inhabit the same strange territory? Can they survive without killing each other or being devoured by dinosaurs?
So the second volume is just as crazy as the first however by the time they try to explain all the crazy tons of holes in the logic start springing up. It’s still got great art and fun action but by the end you’re left with a “oh ok, I guess” kind of reaction. It’s a fun read if you like any of the obscure characters they use but it’s not a book I need to reread.
Fun romp, where a bunch of soldiers and warriors, mostly from DC's war and historical adventure books are pitted against each other by mysterious forces, on an island full of dinosaurs.
Jones has some trouble juggling the big cast and the explanation is a bit shaky, but a fun read.
So I did like this books story. The downfall is that I had forgotten so much from the first volume that I was definitely a little bit confused about what was going on. While the story did have a definitive ending, I would have liked to have seen a little bit of the future and whether the main character kept having adventures there.
This was pain to read. I think I am too old for lame story about putting heroes from various sources in to the island in sort of experimental battle against unknown evil. Bleh never again. I picked it up only because Hans von Hammer was in it.
