Do not forget to entertain strangers€¦some people have entertained angels without knowing it. Hebrews 13:2 Every interaction we have with people includes making them feel comfortable, cared for, and supported. Yet sometimes we€™re so busy or tired that hosting graciously seems impossible. Annie Chapman and Heidi Beall understand. They take the stress out of hospitality by showing readers how to always be prepared for guests. Packed with check lists, tips for handling unexpected situations, and conversation starters, Entertaining Angels is a comprehensive guide to sharing Christ through kindness and generosity. Readers will find practical help, adding little touches that say welcome accommodating guests€™ special needs discerning when to go the extra mile planning and preparing celebrations

Admittedly, it's quite an "American" book, so some things are harder to apply here in Australia, but it's certainly been a very helpful book. It was easy to read, but filled with heaps of great advice for when you have guests, whether they are here for dinner or overnight guests, or longer.
I've always wanted a recipe for "breakfast casserole" (which I've had a number of times in the States) and this book has it, plus a heap of other recipes. Unfortunately as it's an American recipe, it won't work out quite the same over here as I need to substitute ingredients, and Aussies aren't really into the breakfast casserole thing, but that won't stop me from trying it all the same!
One of my favourite pieces of advice was actually expanding on an idea I already had in my head for overnight guests and I was happy to try it out while my parents stayed here. A welcome basket for their bedroom.
The authors gave well balanced advice for all areas of hospitality, including "Give... But Be Wise", "Showing Off Or Showing You Care" all with Christian values.
I started reading this book while "homeless" and decided that I would have to read it again when we were settled as there were so many great points in there and I wanted to highlight many of them.
If you love hospitality, you'll love this book. If you don't like hospitality, you'll find some helpful tips to make it easier when you find yourself in an entertaining predicament!
I appreciate the ideas and theology behind hospitality...but this book seemed a little out of touch with reality in some places. For instance, advising to have, perhaps, several different sets of nice dishes and/or silverware to make guests feel special. I know you can do that with even paper plates, and having excess seems wrong to me.
