This book is based on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, something that doesn't work with me very well. But I got good tips and support working through the book. Passed the book along too.

I love the actual book, which I read many years ago ... but I despise the title!!! It isn't a "diet" in terms of giving you a food prescription and plan. What this workbook and the book offer is a way to move from "diet" mentality to lifestyle mentality by rewiring the way you approach eating and food. It allows you to work through sabotaging thoughts and replace them with affirming and helpful thoughts and beliefs. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is what the book and process is based on. I have loved working through the workbook this time, but do find that I appreciate having the full book to reference as well. If you want to stop the fad diet treadmill and transition to a lifestyle of healthy eating, this book is a fabulous doorway to enter through!! (Once you get past the title LOL!!)

Things that were helpful:

1. Cards to flip through that help face reality
2. Reasons list to read through daily
3. Place to acknowledge success of the day

Hunger and cravings are uncomfortable, but I can tolerate it. It will go away if I focus on something else.

The habit of discipline can be built upon. Resisting cravings is a habit that can be built.

I can learn to tolerate cravings and hunger.

Life changing

If you've read The Beck Diet Solution but struggle to put everything into practice, this workbook is for you!

Easy to read and follow. You need to be ready to change your life for this to work. No magic pills, just structured activity and reprogramming of the way you think about food, eating and exercise on your way to sustainable weight loss.

a lot of this didn't age well but it's got a lot of helpful advice

also did i cut out the stuff i thought was important for my food journal and not take my time and go through the workbook at the speed they suggest? yeah.

and do i have an eating disorder and therefore as the book states, this book isn't reccomended for me? yeah. :(

I bought this at the same time I bought the actual book and wish I would’ve known that you don’t need both. The workbook would be good for like a refresher but it’s the exact same thing as the book, you don’t need both.

I prefer the original book - quitting this one and focusing on the other. (This one isn’t enough alone and is repetitive if you’re already reading the other one).

Read through quickly. Now I want to go through and dive deeper. I also don’t love her use of the word diet.

I haven't really gotten to far into this yet, but self-discovery seems likely. Really good read. Addresses the serious underlying issues of most people dealing with the need for weight loss.

I'm currently on day 14 of this. This book is what made it really sink in that in order to keep the weight off that I lost I'd need to change something other than my caloric intake.

A great addition to it's corresponding book but is not necessary to work the Beck program.
