Full of Grace: Women and the Abundant Life

Rate this book
We must be women who are spiritual mothers, women who are full of grace, women of the abundant life. —from Chapter Eight

What happens when women give their lives over to God? They become vessels of grace, bearers of healing, consolation, encouragement and strength to a troubled world. Far from being passive, the woman of grace will actively embrace God's will, actively seek out the suffering and lost, and actively bring God's healing love to others. If she accepts God's call to authentic womanhood, her role, in the words of a closing speech at Vatican Council II, becomes nothing less than to "aid humanity in not falling." Full of Grace will empower all women to fully embrace their God-given identity. This edition of Full of Grace is now correlated to The Women of Grace® Foundational Study Series. A Servant Book.

Johnette goes through the Bible and the teachings of the Catholic Church as they relate to women. This book is a good read for anyone who is interested in what the importance of woman in Christianity is and how we woman are to obtain the important role we have to play.

The reason why we have chosen this book for our CCM meetings is because the author Johnnette Benkovic does a wonderful job at showing women how to become the woman that God has created us to be; "Full of Grace." My prayer is that this book will become the first stepping in helps us to becoming the daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, or aunte that God is calling us to be. As we begin to read this book let us pray to our Sorrowful Mother and ask her to help guide our hearts ever closer to her son.

This is the second time reading Full of Grace: Women and the Abundant Life by Jonnette Benkovic. The first time I read this book was with my women's church group. It is a great book that encourages women to experience God's love and mercy. Each time I read it, I learn something new and different. A great read and I recommend this book to all women.

Benkovic shows the way for women to find the Abundant Life and how they may be instrumental in helping others find the way. She ends with the teachings of St. Theresa of Lisieux and Edith Stein, St.Theresa Benedicta of the Cross, two Carmelite saints.

There is a DVD series and workbook that goes along with the book.
I highly recommend this book! I did this workshop as part of the woman's group with my parish. To be truthful, when I actually started reading the book, I had to end up making myself do one chapter a month in order to follow along with the group but I ended up by not being able to always attend group so I ended up finishing on my own and wasn't able to completely follow the DVD series.
