It's been a really long time since I read a book that I disliked as much as this one. Now, everyone knows that I am a fan of IR books. Everyone knows that I am a fan of paranormal books. So, imagine how happy I was to find one that meshed both of my favorite genres together. Unfortunately, this book leaves a lot to be desired. First, the heroine. I enjoyed that she was plus sized, and, I liked the realism of his emotions when he found out she was not the person he expected. What I did not like was his constant verbal abuse and his inability to pretend to be nice. At no point in time did I feel he was worth loving, as the title suggests. Despite this, after meeting him for a weekend tryst, she already has feelings for him and is hurt when he does not return those feelings. And then her incessant need to ask questions after sex. I wanted to slap her and say, just go to sleep already. Even when she knew he was annoyed, she just kept asking questions and talking. In this sense, he was a good guy because I would have, in True Blood terms, "glamored" her butt, scrubbed her memory cleaned and left without her being the wiser. And this is not even the worst part of the book. The worst parts are 1. It's everything you don't want in an IR book. There is too much emphasis on her "big butt" and curves. In fact, her butt got more page time than anything else 2. The sex talk was horrible. "Sugar dick", really!! I don't even think tv porn is that bad. You tell a man you've just met that he has a sugar dick and wonder why he isn't madly in love with you. Classy! Now, because of this stupid description that dumb song by Sheena Easton from the 80's is stuck in my head (Sugar Walls). Even more reason to despise this book. This is a book that I finished reading quickly because I was just tired of it. I am glad that I borrowed this book instead of buying it. I would not lend this book to anyone I liked.
Don't get me wrong, I'm as into a good old fashioned PWP ("Plot? What plot?") story as the next gal.
But this one just didn't do it for me.
I really wanted to like it. The premise is great -- BBW hooks up with an uber-hot vampire alpha male for a weekend of amazing sex, only he was expecting a thin, blonde, white chick, and, well, our heroine isn't any of these.
PERFECT SETUP for both some amazing angst and awesome smexin, doncha think?
Only.. It wasn't... Both the hero and heroine were practically bipolar with their mood swings, the whole "in blood" thing was a bit squicky for me, but beyond that, the hero goes out and bangs other people... Wait, no, not only does he go bang other people, but we get the joy (sarcasm) of reading it in full descriptive glory.
Now IDK, I don't read a whole heck of a lot of "erotica" (I typically prefer smutty romances that are less about the "sperm" and tons of other graphically explicit words and phrases that I can't type in my review, and more about the hot-banging-leading-to-true-love), so that definitely could be my problem with this book... It's just that I want my hero to, well, be faithful. There's nothing sexy about a man going off and @#$%ing some other chick (especially not in explicit detail) while he's trying to work out his new connection/feelings/desires/whatever with the heroine. And then for her to find out about it and forgive him (and then tumble into bed with him) in the span of a five minute conversation?
*shakes head* Not sexy.
Not to mention, who the heck has a "fantasy" about having unprotected sex? I mean, I get the wanting to go without a condom, especially if you're going to be with someone who can't carry/transmit STI's, but to intentionally stop taking your birth control two weeks before a wild weekend? Srsly? *shakes head*
But, like I said, I'm not as into the straight "erotica" type novels as I am into "erotic romance" (keyword being romance).. Stuff like Larissa Ione or Lisa Marie Rice, so take my review with a big grain of salt.
1 1/2 stars

I did enjoy this story. As far as alpha males go Adrian is in a class by himself! If I could have put myself into the story he would have been pimp slapped before the first chapter ended! Sure,Brandi wanted a "bad boy",but as the old saying goes,"be careful what you wish for, because you just might get it".
Crass to the point of lewdness and rude to the point of harmful,he dishes of disses to Brandi that bring her to tears. Yet she continues to ask for his special type of "sexual healing". I would have healed him with a 2x4!
I love vampire stories. I love this one who falls in love with a plus-size sister. She makes him a better person just by loving him. I like a little depth in stories like this because in real life we all have a primitive desire to love and be loved. Often times there are things I. Our past that cause us to feel as though we are incapable of loving another and or being loved. This is such a story with all of the erotic passion mad vampire stuff I like. It also shows the human side to us all.
what a stupid woman ... why do you have no dignity .. he called you a whore and left you in the woods alone but what .. i most have him one more time ... Brandi needs to be blind folded and shoot in the woods.. disgusting ....why does Marilyn write all her characters like this.. all of the brainless and desperate
it took me a minute to read this book, by the time i finished it i was disgusted. i could believe that she would even want to put up with so much negative mess from this man and still want to be with him. Just horrible
Adrian was the most condescending arrogant sexy crazy running from in blood vamp Ive read but I really enjoyed him poor Brandi well she does get him so maybe she came out even
This book felt like a freshman attempt at creating an Alpha personality. There was a vampire named Adrian that was over 200 years old, but he acted like a man that would have been in his early 20's in how he treated Brandi. He was in his 40's when he turned so I would have thought that he would have been a little bit more sophisticated in his actions even though when he fell in "blood" with Brandi he wasn't able to control his emotions. He was a complete jerk the whole book, and wasn't worth rooting for and she was an idiot for forcing something that she should have left alone. I'm glad it wasn't longer because it would have been painful to finish.
I'm never ok when the H can sleep with multiple girls after 'falling in love with the h', but if the h even looks at a guy sideways, H loses shit! Not ok! ....double standard is what it is.
Man, the story otherwise was doing really good until he went to his maker and fucked her to next sunday! *gagging noise*
