I haven't seen the show this is based on, but I don't think I want to after reading this. Not that this book really changed my mind, just confirmed that it's not really my jam. The humour is, in this story, based on the characters catching instant colds from magical winter weather and not being able to understand each other—and Timmy's fairy godparents' compulsion to grant ALL of his wishes (including ones he didn't actually make). I can see how this would be funny to younger readers, but at best it got a groan from me. I guess I've lived through enough "well-meaning but stupid" antics to think these in specific are that funny.
