Only of interest to those who have some knowledge of Seventh-day Adventism (SDA) or wanting to know more about the issues related to the book's topic. A straight-forward survey of problems/issues re Ellen G White's writings which are claimed by SDAs to be supernaturally inspired. Evidence that undermines that claim is compellingly presented and, while there are some interpretations of the data by the author might be debated, most is presented with potent clarity. If you are an SDA, ex-SDA, or considering SDAism this is a must read.
While I agree with the authors conclusions completely, parts of it would have to be different before I would give it five stars. What I liked... Side by side comparisons of Ellen G. White's writing and the Bible verses she contradicted or twisted. The compassionate tone. The presentation of the true Gospel compared with White's gospel. Legible photo copies of important original documents. It's concise. You can understand the issues with out having to delve to deeply. (More in depth books recommended. What I didn't like... The Bible verses referenced weren't KJV. It would have made some of the comparisons much clearer. Never mentioned that it isn't Biblical for a woman to head a church as White did. I would still recommend it to anyone with questions about the Seventh Day Adventists.
This was eye-opening and a refreshing read. While I don’t agree with everything Sydney Cleveland writes, he raises so many compelling points about the falsehoods of Ellen White, the Seventh-day Adventist’s prophet. Cleveland misunderstands some Catholic doctrines, which isn't very surprising but unfortunate.
