Relax along Maryland’s Chesapeake Bay as you read about three strong African American women who suddenly face upheaval in life. Monica is caring for her abandoned nephew and trying to pick the proper tutor for him. Emily is struggling to save the family farm when a CPA turns up to do an audit. Karen has been deceived by her fiancé, and now she’s expected to trust a neighbor who knows too much of her business. Can God rebuild their tattered lives with new loves?
I enjoyed all three stories in the first story it was interesting seeing how John's mind works as an Agnostic. I loved how Cecelia let us see Johns thought process. The interaction between Monica and Scotty was lovely to see and showing just cos you have a disability doesn't mean you cant have a life was great. I found the whole story interesting and you know what I love about this book, Monica is in her late 30's and I do enjoy reading books featuring older heroines, Thanks Cecelia. Story two I enjoyed the rural setting as I come from a rural area also. When we first meet Frank he helps Emily deliver a calf with her thinking hes the vet. I liked how this book started then as Emily finds out hes the Accountant who she didn't want to hire it gets interesting. Frank has baggage which we see right from the start and I was interested in how Cecelia would work with it. I enjoy the country girl city boy encounters. story 3 was my favourite story. I like the way that both Karen and Keith both have issues to deal with and Cecelia didn't give them the easy option to fix the issues. It was good to watching this story unfold. I really hope there will be another book as there is room for a follow up to answer some questions particularly about a couple of charactors.
This book was amazing. I loved how it went through each friends relationship and life in one book! The author had me laughing and crying at times. Truly amazing! Bravo to this author! I hope she continues writing because she has been blessed by God with writing!
I enjoyed this collection very much. Each story is well-crafted and I could relate to the characters. Her development of the story lines is wonderful! Cecelia has a true gift for writing!
Three stories in one book, each book connecting to the others. I didn’t feel like the main romantic characters had any chemistry with each other- there was no spark that made me want them to get together. Much of the story line was driven by “missionary dating”- the ladies wanting to change the men.
I did love the interactions between the friends and between the adults and Scotty. And it was nice to have know what happened to the characters in previous stories.
Cecelia Dowdy develops great African American heroines and heroes for her three romance stories contained in Chesapeake Weddings. The stories are easy to relate to for women who do not share the same ethnicity or age bracket as her characters. I had not read any African American romance stories until I read Cecelia's. She created sympathetic characters with challenges to overcome and developed them very credibly so they grew as the plot progressed. These are very enjoyable light reads for romance lovers.
This was three short stories in one. It was not earth shattering literature but asked some good questions. I did appreciate that each story connected to the next in a small way
