Harry Charles Shelley ( - 1936) was a British writer, war correspondent, photographer, and lecturer.
Shelley spent 8 months with the British Army covering the Boer War in 1899-1900 with Winston Churchill, a fellow war correspondent.
For several years, he served as literary and dramatic critic on American newspapers in addition to writing for The King and Westminster Gazette and editing for The Weekly Mail.
A pleasant enough ramble around some of the interesting old pubs of London, but one that is chaotic and seemingly organized around the author's belief in their literary and architectural merit. Sadly, it is not a scholarly work in any way - which limits its use - and, thanks to the vagaries of time and the impact of the Blitz, many of the pubs which were extant in Shelley's day have now disappeared.
