Educated at Southern Methodist University, Union Theological Seminary, and the New School for Social Research, Ferguson pursued a myriad of different careers, working as an English professor at SMU, minister, publisher, author, and member of the US Foreign Service. After serving as president of New York-based publishing house Round Table Press, Ferguson was selected as a senior editor of the newly-founded Readers Digest, a position he held until his retirement in 1968.
An excellent biography of Wolsey. The author painted a very rich portrait of the period. Wolsey the man really comes through with all his flaws and insecurities, but ultimately, he appears sympathetic. Occaisionally, the author got off subject, but overall, the book was a full vivid biography of a fascinating man.
‼️ Alert!🔔. This book is for history lovers. It is about what England was like between the years 1471 when Cardinal Thomas Wolsey was born and 1520 when Wolsey had worked his way up from son of a butcher, to priest and onward up to being the advisor to the English Kings Henry VII and HenryVIII: before he became the King we all know🤪🥸
I guess, this is a book which has long been forgotten. It was written by Charles Furguson in the 50s, not the Furguson who filmed "Inside Job" though! I was attracted by the NAME of the book, which turns out to be a quotation from Shakespeare's HenryVIII, if I'm not wrong! In details, it is a biography of Cardinal Thomas Wolsey, the very person who has given the Palace of Hampton Court to Henry the Eight. His life ended in the hand of the same King, by whatever means one dares to imagine!! By whatever sins and guilt one managed to judge and place verdict!! After all, this is HISTORY.
