I read this to my invalid wife. The book opened with Kyle married to Kenneth, which we approved of. Kyle and Kenneth were destined to be married at the end of the first book. For the most part, the story deals with grief and how not to deal with it. Without giving away too much of the book, one of the outspoken characters has a drastic change of heart and in the end all is well. Diana liked the book very much. She wanted to give it a five, I thought a three - we compromised with a four.

This book was so sad, but it had a happy ending! I did hate to see her shut herself off for so long. I wish they wouldn’t have made that last so long, but the transformation was really good! 😁

A very emotional, touching sequel to "Another Homecoming". I really liked this book, though it was quite a sad one - but the themes of faith, and holding unto the Lord in the dark times challenged, inspired and moved me.

My first attempt on a Janette Oke book. The plot was very linear, good enough for when the book was written.
If you have lost something or someone and you are finding it difficult to bounce out of the loss and bounce back to life, this book will be good for you.

This story was so heartwrenching! It was more of a tearjerker than watching The Notebook. This is a book I got from my grandma's house, and she collected several by this and other authors who write romances and domestic dramas with a strong Christian basis. While I was hoping to read more of a light romance after powering through a very matter-of-fact book about archeology, I went a little too far to the emotional side of things. By page 30 the tears were threatening, and I could barely hold them in through the next 70 pages! Finally it got a little easier.... but wow.

I'm a religious person, but this was a little too much in the writing. It was a good story line with important topics of dealing with loss of a child and your hope in dreams, but it didn't flow as we'll.

Kyle has been reunited with her birth parents her brother, she is expecting a child, and her brother Joel is even getting married despite his heart condition. Life is good. Then kyle's baby boy, Samuel is born with a heart that isn't getting the blood it needs he dies from it causing Kyle to turn inward, closing off her emotions to god and everyone she loves. Her brother and his wife have a healthy baby boy despite Joel's bad heart which makes it worse for Kyle to understand why Samuel died and Joel's baby lived. Then Joel dies and Kyle tries to convince Joel's wife who is struggling financially with the mission to give her baby to Kyle to raise. Kyle is looking for healing in all the wrong places, worldly. She has a talk with mr. Miller and he gets through her inner barrier to let the hurt go and heal. She opens up to her husband again and becomes pregnant with a healthy baby girl.

Kyle's life seems to be all sunshine and roses as she and Kenneth marry and she is reunited with her birth mother and father as well as having her relationship with her birth mother improving. However, "happily ever after" is not the way Oke writes and so Kyle faces a huge challenge after the birth of her first child. Her faith is tested and she withdraws into herself for a time. Oke does a good job of showing real life and doesn't spare her characters from trouble so she can show how faith in God is the antidote for all the worries of this world.

I enjoyed this book but it was about the loss of a child. It was interesting for me to read and I had felt some of those same feelings. It was also interesting to see that through this struggle the couple had pushed their relationship a bit. It was strained and you could see how much the husband wanted her to feel better yet he still struggled with his own faith at times and finding the through the love and faith in God that all can be healed.

This is one of those sequels that requires reading the initial book (Another Homecoming) first, which I did not do. Therefore, the first few chapters felt more like the second half of a book - the reader was assumed to know background information and empathy for the characters.

Not until the crisis occurs is a new reader's interest engaged.

Kyle is happily married, found her birth parents and brother, getting along really well with her mother but her faith in God is tested when her baby is born with a heart problem.
For such a short book it repeats too much from the last book, Another Homecoming.

I downloaded this book for my nook from the "internet library" trying to find clean books to read. It was about a woman who after losing her baby to a heart defect struggled with her faith in God.

I've never lost a baby so couldn't really relate to this book. But I thought it was an awful depressing book to read. It ended on a positive note but at times it was just really sad and depressing.

This was so sad. I think that it might have been better if I had read the book before it, but I didn't. It had a lot of good things about it. The ending was truly wonderful.

This is the second of a two book series. The first one was much better. Although the characters turned to god through their ordeals, that was good. The story lacked something. I'm not sure what.

A quick read but a good story. Everyone has losses, how you deal with them is important.

Jeanette Oke did a very good job of portraying the heavy weight of grief. Those who have experienced this, will easily identify with characters' struggles.

After the first book, this one was much sadder than I expected..the ending was beautiful but be prepared for a harder story.

"I am a simple man. Reasons are not here for why we must suffer. I cannot explain the sadness of life. No all I can say is always will God be with us. Always. Yah, this i know. Him into our hearts and receive His comfort. For receive it we must. Like a gift. I hold it out unto you but you must take it "

This book turned out to be extra special for me; I was born with a shunt (VSD) in the same time period as this story is set, but by the grace of God, I was able to have corrective surgery and still doing well. I had no idea I’d run into this in the book. Serendipity!
