At first glance, 27-year-old Dionni Stone, owner of Whatever You Like Entertainment seems to have what all black women natural beauty, a successful business, and a beautiful black man on her side. Establishing NCM Publishing; Nicola creates themes in her work revolving around situations that are a compulsive desire to see women over come challenges. I read this author in reverse. I started with her novel "The Appetizer: When You’re Not His Main Squeeze" I enjoyed that novel so much I decided to see how it all began as I didn't know they were all connected. I was not disappointed at all. Having read her second novel first, I can see the growth and would recommend her work. I look forward to reading the next installment "Twisted" not to confuse anyone, but it is the third installment in the series and true sequel to "Over and Over Again". Don't be like me and read out of order. To Ms. Mitchell’s credit, I had no problems following "The Appetizer" - it is truly a standalone book, which happens to be the sophomore effort.
Dionni Stone is the epitome of an independent woman. She has it all: a great job, great friends, and a great man. Looks can be deceiving. Her happy home is not so happy. The perfect relationship with Dale is one sided. Dale is the neighborhood playboy as Dionni keeps finding out. When she is tired and had enough she decides to leave and concentrate on her thriving business. In the mean time, her friends hash a plan to have her meet Xavier Grey BKA Zay. Sparks fly and they are off but could it be that easy? NOT. As friends and secrets are revealed, the story goes into overdrive with an ending so explosive you will be looking for the next one to see how things turn out.
I like how it shows that even those who seem to have it all together can struggle with low self esteem. That even those who seem to have it all together can have men dog them out. No one is immune to matters of the heart. The title is perfect and I think that most women can relate on some level. The women are strong in their own right; the need to be loved over shadows that at times. The character Candy was the one I loved to hate, that chick was like a thorn in my side that just wouldn't go away. She went far above for love. Dale was a piece of work you won’t stop cursing him out. Looking forward to seeing something new and fresh from Ni'cola and I will start 'Twisted' soon, I hope. Have to fit it into my busy schedule
We hear and read about so many heart-broken relationships. Women need to discover what they will tolerate with and not! We forget we are "jewels" and only get excited with the jewelry men can buy us to overlook their fornication or adulterous relationships. Dionni finds herself in a "love triangle", where she feels she loves Dale and continues to accept his affairs with other women until she meets a new client. Her new client, Xavier "Zay" Grey, is a new piece of art. He appears on the outside as handsome, debonair, and has a secretive demeanor that lures Dionni into his web. However, Dionni wants to play her cards right with Zay, saying she does not want to have sex due to her past relationship with Dale, but her body is yearning for Zay's love until his business partner, Candice (Candy) walks in. Action with no satisfaction. Dionni reflected on when she caught Dale's sexual encounter in the garage and now she felt like the other woman (flip the script, seeing herself on the other side of the relationship).
Do you find yourself attracting the wrong men over and over again? Do you get played or burned over and over again? Do we look for a rebound relationship to get over our past hurtful one? We need to make the necessary changes to not see these things play over and over again in our lives! I cannot wait for the sequel: the Appetizer!
"Over & Over Again" is the story of Dionni, a young successful businesswoman in love with the wrong guy. No matter how bad he treats her she can't seem to break that love chain. I think many women have had that experience at least once in their life. The loving just overpowers our better judgement and we return for more disappointment.
Although filled with drama that kept me turning the page, Over & Over Again, lacked depth and story development, and contained numerous errors. At times I felt like I was reading the same thing over and over again, when there was so much that could have been shown. I also found it hard to relate to the characters because even though their situations probably happen everyday, I wanted to believe that a woman with Dionni's business skills and success, would not be drawn to the caliber of men she dealt with; and do friends really introduce their friends to pimps in hopes of helping them get over the loser she has already been dealing with.
The ending to the book was pretty much like the beginning, Dionni catches her boyfriend Dale in bed with another woman, this time it happens to be one of her close friends. Unfortunately, I feel a sequel coming on when there was room to finish this story off, especially since she introduced a bit of new drama (not the friend sleeping with her man) towards the end of the book, which would have saved this novel for me.
The sound of a women screaming at her lover wondering why has he done this thing again rings in my head when I think of Dionni Stone. I women who was truly in love but gullible. I hate to admit it but women do this all the time. Settle for the cheater because they would rather not be alone. But in this debut novel Ni'cola describes what can happen when you truly try to get over one guy by getting under another. Some may say girl do it because men do it all the time. But can a women's heart truly heal that way. Ni'cola challenges that question when she describes a life that is truly in shambles and then tries to reattach itself. I truly enjoyed this novel because I could relate to the language, the feelings, the demeanors. These ladies I knew. The brothers I have seen before and the lies I have heard. In over and over again the title truly speaks for itself. I recommend this read because when the book turned to its last page you were yelling out, OH MY GOODNESS!! It's that juicy
Meet Dionni Stone, owner of Whateva You Like Entertainment. She has the look, brains and money to do whatever she desires. Even with Dale as the love of her life, things aren't always what they seem...
When Dale places himself in another compromising position, Dionni decides she's had enough and moves on without him. However, her girlfriends take it upon themselves to change her destiny with love.
Now meet Xavier "Zay" Grey...Handsome, rich and has all that Dionni could ever want and more. When he hires her company to plan a birthday party for his sister, he gets more than what meets the eye.
Sparks instantly fly between Zay and Dionni...but how will he explain Candy?
Ni'cola does the reader justice in "Over and Over Again", keeping them enthralled in a steady-paced page turner. For the level of writing brought to the table, one would not believe that this is a debut novel. The editing is well done; flow is enticing and the storyline delivers some very interesting messages along the way.
Be on the lookout for Ni'cola as she continues to make her mark in the literary industry.
I have zero tolerance for conniving, vindictive women...Ashley, Candy, Eva!! Dionni wasn't the type of woman to bother another woman. The issues she had with Dale and Zay, she took up with them instead of the woman. Ashley and Candy just couldn't accept not being wanted so instead chose to plan and plot to make Dionni hurt. Why??
I really wasn't shocked that one of her closest friends did her dirty too. Usually, that's how it is....that one friend always telling you to leave for her to turn around and sample the goods too. Typical!! From the reviews on the next installment, it seems like Dionni is going to backtrack...if so, her choice, but the reviews about the typos and poor editing made me decide not to pay $2.99 to find out what's next. However; I enjoyed this book and I'm rooting for Dionni's happiness!!
In most relationships, we find ourselves falling for the wrong person and tend to attract the same type of man again until we have closure with the one who left us heart-broken. In this book, you will ask yourself, will you keep tolerating BS for so-called love (or lust); fall into rebound relationships believing this is the one; keep attracting the same men or women; or are you willing to evaluate yourself and make those necessary changes for true love. Regardless of the drama and sex, the person in the end you have to answer to is you! Will you continue to put yourself through it over and over again--great title for this book too!
I was interested in the title. I did not see the cover or read the synopsis. I was into the book so much so I missed my stop. I can tell you I was disappointed by the GENERALIZATION of the young girl.Although the young lady was successful she still lack SELF~ESTEEM...By all accounts she seem to come from a well adjusted family yet could not shake the yearning of LONLINESS..... This author has potential and I encourage readers to support her...
WOW!!! Ni'cola Mitchell has done it again. This book was great!! It's a fast read that I chose to read slowly and keep up the suspense. This was not a ghetto hood book but there was lots of drama. I am already reading the sequel!!
Dionni has a cheating boyfriend, low down friends and soooo much drama. I usually don't like books with drama on every other page but I'm actually anticipating the sequel. I just hope Dionni is stronger and Eva has reaped what she sowed.
This was a good read although it was a little slow at points it came together to make an exciting read I couldn't put down some of the characters had me saying What f*** were you thinking
