Carter unpacks the Five big Ideas of aligning instruction for all kids- These include institutionalizing the total instruction alignment process, creating a totally effective learning environment, focusing on the quality of the teacher, redesigning and aligning learning time and adjusting learning/teaching based on data. These are not new ideas. She presents her case, that until we align these aspects of instruction for our students, we will not make the gains necessary to produce schools full of proficient students. The ideal reads well- it's getting there that is the challenge!
