With the deed to her land and a kid brother to protect, mustanger Skylar Daines shouldn't have tangled with the likes of Tucker Morgan. But his stolen kiss scatters her senses and, quicker than a whirling dust devil, they're wed!

To her relief, Tucker's keen to fix the marital slipup--and then he tells her the deed she holds belongs to him, and him alone. Maybe she shouldn't rush to have their marriage annulled. No man, no matter how good-looking, is going to swindle Skylar out of the one thing she yearns for most--a home.

I started this book on a Saturday and finished it the same day. This book was incredible. It has the great elements of an authentic western setting, engaging characters, sensual romance, humor, and danger. You will love Skylar as she is an incredible woman with a sense of honor but also the grit and determination to do what it takes to make a life for her younger brother. She was forced from a young age to suppress her feminine side and to work and to live as a cowboy, and nobody would question her abilities. Skylar ends up accidentally married to playful, but dangerous former bounty hunter, Tucker Morgan. He's gorgeous and tempting, but having a home for her brother is her first priority. The end goal is to get to Wyoming, get paid for her mustangs, and get an annulment. She just has to keep her hands off him, and his hands off her. Tucker wasn't looking at getting married ever, but he has one heck of a bride on his hands. She's willing to pull her weight and then some, and earns his respect. And she's beautiful. He finds it harder than he thought to keep from taking his wife to bed, and soon finds that he wants her forever. I really enjoyed this book. It was fun, it was intense, and I felt like I was there on the trail to Wyoming, with dust in my mouth, the cold wind blowing on face, hearing the mustangs neighing, and dodging bullets, along with the characters. If have been feeling at a loss as less and less western romances are being published, I highly recommend picking up this book. It will keep you entertained for hours indeed. Stacey Kayne is a new go to author for me when it comes to western romances.

Danielle already wrote a most excellent review for this one, so I'll just try and add my few thoughts.

For some reason, this book started a bit slow for me, but that was probably my fault because I hadn't completely forgotten about Lord Dain from Lord of Scoundrels--(always give yourself enough time to decompress from your last read!) But once I got into the rhythm of the book, I completely fell in love with the characters and the story, and found it hard to put down. I loved 19 year old Skylar, the beautiful tomboy who just wanted a home of her own, and loved how she put everyone's welfare ahead of her own. I loved her relationship with her younger (age 13) brother Garret, loved her stubborness, her protectiveness towards Garret, and her sparring with Tucker, the husband she never intended to have. Loved her bravery, her independence, and her willingness to work hard. And I loved her passionate nature with Tucker, the charming rogue she had trouble resisting.

Tucker--what a fun-loving devil he was! No wonder Skylar had such trouble resisting him. Blonde, green-eyed and with a fallen angel's smile, and not used to pleasing anyone but himself--until he met Skylar. I enjoyed watching him mature and becoming the man he could be. He may have been a bit clueless when it came to realizing what a woman who he took as his lover would expect from him, but luckily it all dawned on him before it was too late. I loved seeing him realize he had fallen in love with Skylar. I adored this rascal almost as much as Skylar did.:)

If you're looking for a good western, with a surprising amount of heat and romance (I loved all Tucker's romantic gestures to Skylar) then give this book a shot. It's part of a trilogy, and I can't wait to read Tucker's twin brother Chance's story (Maverick Wild) and then Garret's story (Mountain Wild). 4 1/2 stars

A cute western historical with a little heat and a lot of heart. Tucker and Skylar made such a great couple. Accidentally married (yes, this was funny!), they find they can't keep their hands off of each other. The story has them rustling a heard of mustangs from Arizona to Wyoming with bad guys not far behind. Skylar is an expert handler of horses, and can keep up with the men. But she has a soft side and yearns to live a life like a woman should, with husband, home and children. Tucker is taken by her and instantly attracted. He is a great hero. Likable and funny, he is a rough cowboy with a tender side who finds himself over his head with Skylar.

This is a quick read at 290 pages. Fans of Linda L Miller or the like should really enjoy this series. The heat is mild to warm, and had one pretty steamy (and funny) scene, but it never gets graphic. I'd give it 3.5-4 stars. I'm looking forward to the next book with Chance, Tucker's identical twin brother.

5 Stars! Just an old-fashioned wonderful romance. Not a lot of steam, but very sensual and passionate, great couple chemistry!

Skylar is a strong women, determined to claim what is rightfully hers, and wants to build a future for herself, and her younger brother Garrett. They meet up with the Morgan twins, Tucker and Chance, real men; scrumptious, strong, protective, just what I like in my heroes. All four of them are part of the story, but the romance centers around Skylar and Tucker. The attraction between them builds, and he woos her with words and kindness. He's a real romantic, so sweet and such a charmer. Skylar and Tucker were a match made in cowboy heaven!

I really enjoyed the interaction between all the characters, and how the brothers formed an attachment to Garrett and treated him like he was one of their own. You could feel the four of them growing into a family long before they realize that's what they had become.

Very well written with great dialogue, some anxious moments, lots of romance, and our hero, Tucker, coming to the rescue in a big screen moment. The way he takes care of Skylar will bring tears to your eyes. SWOON!

Mustang Wild is a truly enjoyable read that you will have a hard time putting down!

I was hooked on this book by the end of the first chapter, and it stayed with me (literally on my person) until I finished it!

This is a story about a proud, capable, talented woman who's femininity has been hidden and discouraged by her father for as long as she can remember. Skylar was a breath of fresh air, and the way that she proved herself to be loyal and steadfast to her younger brother had me cheering for her from the very beginning of this book. Tucker was so much fun! The way he shows Skylar he loves her made for many "ahhhh" moments.

This book has it all. I was laughing one minute, choked up the next, and as the bullets were flying was hanging on to my seat for dear life. This is the way westerns were meant to be and I can't wait for the second in the series.

Mustang Wild is the first book of Stacey Kayne’s Wild series and the very first book she wrote. It’s the story of a feisty, young lady and the charming cowboy who captures her heart. All heroine Skylar Daines ever wanted was a home to call her own, but she’s been forced to live on the trail, being treated like “one of the guys” by her father. Then one of her father’s men kills him in cold blood in an attempt to steal his horses, the deed to the land he was headed for in Wyoming, and Skylar herself, so Sky takes her little brother, Garret, and rides like the wind toward New Mexico in search of her father’s business partner, Chance Morgan. She thinks she’s tracked him down at a small-town saloon, only to discover that it’s really his identical twin brother, Tucker, who’s drunk as a skunk. As she tries to get him to understand why she’s come, she finds herself caught up in a flurry of words that make no sense, and in an instant, the two are accidentally legally wed. Once Tucker sobers up and Chance finally arrives, Sky discovers that her father lied to her about certain things, and now all she has left are the horses she and her brother rode in on and the deed to Tucker and Chance’s ranch, which she leverages to get them to take her with them to Wyoming. Along the way, they brave dangers while Sky and Tucker find themselves surprisingly attracted to one another and contemplating whether they still want to get an annulment when they reach their destination. But the real test occurs when they cross paths with her father’s murderer and the stolen horses she intends to get back to ensure a future for herself and Garret. Overall this book was a pretty enjoyable read, albeit one that’s a little slow-paced at times.

Skylar's mother died when she was young, and after that, her father forced her to learn to ride, rope, and train horses with the best of his men. She’s lived out on the open range being treated like merely another cowboy ever since, but deep down, she likes feminine fripperies and just wants a roof over her head again to call home. When her father is killed, she knows that Garret is now her responsibility, too. Her father had promised that once they drove the horses to Wyoming, she could finally have the home she so desperately wants, but what she didn’t know is that the deed to the ranch he’d been showing her really belongs to someone else and he was just holding the document for safe-keeping. When she finally tracks down Tucker and Chance and learns the truth, Sky is disillusioned but determined to get her horses back from the slimy weasel who stole them so that she can sell them to Tucker and Chance and make a new start for herself and her brother. But the only way she can do that is by talking them into hiring her and Garret as trail hands to help them drive the mustangs they’ve rounded up themselves. Once they see how skilled she is at gentling the horses, they’re happy to oblige, but Chance worries that since Sky still holds the deed to their property and Tucker foolishly got himself hitched to her she might try to take part of their land. None of this stops Sky from getting closer to Tucker and giving in to his seductive kisses, which leads to a whole lot more. Until she met him, no man had ever treated her like a woman before, which makes staying married to him extremely tempting, but she has her own agenda and she wants more from him than the occasional roll in the hay.

Skylar is a real spitfire who gives Tucker a run for his money, always getting her back up about one thing or another. She can be pretty stubborn even when Tuck is being sweet to her. Most of the time, I understood where she was coming from, but there were certain aspects of her characterization that I thought could have been deepened to make her even more sympathetic. Her objections to staying with him became a bit tedious at times. I don’t think I could have resisted, especially when Tuck was doing so many nice things for her. Also, once she and Tuck become lovers, she acts like there’s something wrong with it and she’s nothing more than a whore or a mistress to him even though they’re married, which didn’t make a lot of sense to me. However, in spite of her feeling this way, it doesn’t stop her from returning his passion in equal measure, which helped to balance it out some. Overall, Sky was a pretty good heroine. But since she really wants a home and more feminine things and to be treated like a woman, I would have liked to see her gradually soften a bit more each time Tuck provides her with some of her desires instead of being so stubborn right up until the end.

Tucker lost his mom when he was young, too, but later on, his father remarried. However, his step-mother proved to be a shrewish woman who made life miserable for them, making both Tuck and his brother vow never to marry. After his father’s death and a stint in the confederate army, he became a bounty hunter, but more recently, he and Chance have made plans to settle down, buying a ranch in Wyoming. Chance worked for a while with Sky’s father, and cut a deal with him to buy his horses, leaving him the deed to their property as collateral. Tucker went to New Mexico to round up mustangs, which is where all three end up meeting. Tuck is having a wild time at the saloon and just won a large pot while gambling that included a marriage document. His opponents razz him about whether he’ll actually use it, and he says he will if he can find an angel. At that very moment, Sky walks in and a drunken Tucker thinks his wish has just been granted. The preacher says a few words over them and he gets Sky to sign the document, then awakens from his stupor later to find he has a wife. He doesn’t want to be married any more than she does but getting an annulment proves impossible, so they head for Wyoming, planning to take care of it there. Along the way, though, he succumbs to his desire for the feisty beauty, making it harder and harder to remember why he wanted an annulment in the first place. Tucker is an easy-going guy who is always patient with Sky’s obstinate nature and proves to be more amused by her sharp tongue than angered by it. He respects her abilities with the horses as being even better than his own, while also treating her like a lady. He’s a gentle and skilled lover who can make Sky practically forget her own name. He may have a bit of stubbornness in him when it comes to the marriage thing, but his fear for Sky when bad things happen, as well as all the thoughtful little gifts he buys her and his observant nature, show just how much he cares for her, even when he isn’t saying the words.

Overall, Mustang Wild was a good read and a respectable debut novel from Stacey Kayne. As I already mentioned, it could be a little slow at times. The bulk of the story centers around Tucker, Skylar, and their brothers driving the horses from New Mexico to Wyoming, so it kind of has the dynamic of a long road trip. There are a few dangers that they face along the way to make things more interesting, as well as the romantic interludes between Tuck and Sky, so generally speaking when the pace started slowing down, it didn’t take too long for it to re-engage my interest. I liked all the main characters. Tuck was a confident charmer and a sweetheart, and even though Sky could be rather stubborn, I found enough substance in her character for her to be relatable in spite of it. This was my first foray into this author’s writing, and even though it wasn’t totally perfect, it’s left me very open to trying more of her work. Chance’s book, Maverick Wild, is next, and a grown up Garret becomes the hero of the final book, Mountain Wild. I look forward to checking out both of them in the future.

There was a lot to like in this book.

Firstly, there were twins and we get to see them be all twin-ee. This isn't one of those kinky books were they end up together with the same woman. Sad as it may be, I don't read a lot of books where the twins don't share their women so this was a new and exciting experience for me.

I also quite liked the heroine. She's down and her luck, has a borther to care for, nothing in the bank, all she longs for is a home and she finds herself married to the hero by mistake. Ohhhhh what a great start! That all there, that's was established in the first chapter.

The hero wasn't annoying in his reformed bad-boy-ness. He just seems to take to the heroine as time passes even as she tries to keep her distance and maintain a strong image. It seemed like a gradual taming of his character.

I really liked that the heroine wasn't able to maintain her pretenses. She is really having a hard time at things and does try to stay strong, but she has moments of weakness too, and it just so happens that the hero catches her in some of them.

I'm always annoyed when the major/pivotal conflict is cheesy. This one was cheesy - threat of rape, little bit of abuse, exposure to her greatest fear. Conveniently, every possible terrible thing that could be threatened was - but in the end the heroine was saved at the last minute with no real repercussions and gets commitment out of her man. Maybe the lack of this sort of dire situation is why my own love is astoundingly un-epic.

I had a hard time finding this book. I'm glad I put in the effort. I've read the rest of the series and really do think this is a great addition. It's hard to say whether I liked this or #3 more. They are both so different that I think in the end they both end up being my favourites.

An interesting story and interesting characters!

Sky was incredible! She's almost too tough. But at the same time she's feminine too in a very unusual way. She didn't need women's clothes to be beautiful, but she appreciated them when Tuck bought them for her. She's completely at ease with the life of cowhands, but she misses hot tube baths. I liked very much this about her.

Tuck was interesting in his own way. He's a womanizer and doesn't hide it. He's reckless and doesn't hide it either. He wants Sky and does everything to get her, even if at first he tries not to because he's promised Chance. He seduces her and cannot keep himself from her without realizing that he's fallen in love. His toughts and reasoning are fun to read a made me laugh! Besides, he's sexy as sin! *wink*

Garrett is a joy! I would like a brother like him! He's tough too, but he's not shy about showing how much he loves his sister with hugs and words!

Chase if fun too. He's very forward and sometimes borders on rude, but he's soft inside and we see it ofter, but never so much as at the end when he rides for hours in the snow to get a puppy to Garrett for Christmas. I'm happy to read his story next!

Skylar Daines wants one thing; a home, some where she can raise her little brother and tame her horses. She even has the deeds to her lands, the only thing standing in her way is Tucker Morgan, her husband. Their marriage may have been whisky fueled accident, but Tucker can’t help the feelings he is developing Skylar, who has a nature as wild as her mustangs and eyes like an angel. But Skylar is determined to annul the marriage and claim her land after a life time spent in the saddle she wants some where to call her home, no matter how tempting Tucker’s kisses are.

Is there anything quite as charming as a sweet talking cowboy? I don’t think there is. Stacey Kayne shows us exactly how seductive they can be in Mustang Wild where don’t just have one cowboy, but a matches set, twins Chance and Tucker Morgan. This book is all about Tucker and shows us his head long fall into love with his wife the fiery Skylar.

I really enjoyed this book, it was a nice easy read full of romance and a little adventure, not to mention a couple of sexy cowboys, just screaming for the touch of the right woman. The only one who got touched in this book however, was Tucker, and Sky was definitely the right woman for him. The relationship between them was both tender, passionate and sexy as they come closer together.

A great easy read, perfect for relaxing with, it may not stand out particularly in the range of cowboy-centric romances that are out there, but it is a solid addition to the genre. I now can’t wait to move on and see who Chance, Tucker’s twin, ends up with, bring on the next book!

Weak 3 stars. If you don’t mind contrived plot events, the characters and romance feel good.

This is Harlequin – write a lot and do it fast. It uses typical romance novel plot contrivances. They love each other, but she lies to him and says she doesn’t want him. This goes on for most of the book and also causes the big separation. Good guy fights bad guy and believes the bad guy is unconscious. So good guy turns his back and bad guy pulls a gun. Good guy should have tied him up before turning his back.

Another problem: I was really lost in the first chapter. You need to suspend disbelief as to how and why they got married at first sight.

BUT there are good parts! I enjoyed her strong character. She had vulnerabilities so it was not cardboard. I loved the hero. I liked the dialogue and their passion for each other.

DATA:
Narrative mode: 3rd person. Story length: 290 pages. Swearing language: mild. Sexual language: mild. Number of sex scenes: two brief scenes plus two more referred to. Setting: 1880 traveling from New Mexico to Wyoming. Copyright: 2007. Genre: western historical romance.

I was looking through my shelves trying to find my next read when I spotted this little book hiding behind a cup on the top shelf, this book has been on my wish list for the longest of time, it got out of print and I finally bought it second hand last year, so I picked it up hoping it will live up to it's long awaited status.

And in a way it did.

It's a Harlequin Historical Romance, I haven't read one of these in like forever. I think it's good to read one once in a while.

The story follows Sky and her brother, as they run for their life after their father gets killed, they seek the help of Chance Morgan, their father's partner, only things are not what Sky thought.

Sky is an interesting character, tough and knows her horses and her job, raised as a boy, she yearns for a home and a life like a woman. So she does all she can to save her brother and head for the home she thought she had.

What I liked mostly about this book is that Tucker as the main male character was not your typical romance hero, he was not too stupid to try hard to win Sky and he actually wanted to talk about things instead of have the big misunderstanding that usually happens.

It was fun and I enjoyed it and all the details on the horses and the handling, I do want to read the rest of the series, fortunately they are available on kindle

1.5 stars.

What I liked:
1) The dual povs, at least when the MCs weren't being idiots.
2) The fact that the h was a capable and strong woman, just not around the H.

What I didn't like:
1) The thin premise of this entire story. The situation in which the MCs find themselves married wasn't very believable.
2) The h. I can't stand how the H made her melt into a giant puddle of hormones. She couldn't resist him. All he had to do was stand there in all of his masculine glory, quirk a smile at her, and she couldn't control herself. Ugh.
3) The H. He was an idiot. After he found out that the h was looking for a home, someone to share a life with, he should have left her alone. But did he? No... Even though he knew that he was a rolling stone a d that he was easily bored, he just couldn't leave her be. And every time she tried to stick to her guns and push him away, he would be pushy with his beautiful masculine self and turn her into a puddle of mush. He knew she couldn't say no to his advances and advance he did. I sort of hated his guts.
4) The H's sudden about face when it came to marriage was a little too easy.
5) The writing wasn't perfect. It was a little too obvious, too heavy handed, and laden with punctuation marks. Plus the way the dialect was incorporated into the dialogue seemed forced and detracted from the overall telling of the story.
6) And of course there's a run in with one of the H's hook ups, if you could even call her that. Did they have hook ups back then?
7) The lovely scene where the H educates the h about her reproductive cycle and which days she's safe from getting pregnant. Cue the eye roll. Honestly? She works with horses for a living and knows about breeding them. Would she really have no clue as to when she would be fertile? Ugh. That sound you hear is me banging my head against the wall.

Overall, I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone who likes a story where the H is worthy and the h has control over her actions. I also wouldn't recommend this to anyone who likes to read smart romances. This doesn't qualify. It's a sweet enough story, I guess, but I will be skipping the rest of this series.

3.5 stars. I was in the mood for a historical western and this book was just what I needed.

Tuck and Sky find themselves married when he was drunk and she was confused (don't ask, just go with it). They then decide to travel together to Wyoming where they will get an annulment.

I do love a married to a stranger/forced proximity romance and this does not disappoint. Tuck is reluctant to have a wife due to step mommy issues. And Sky doesn't trust men. I do think Sky was prickly for a little too long and I got tired of it. But we all know these two are crazy about each other, they just haven't figured it out yet. And their relationships with their siblings was a highlight of the book. I love Chance and Garrett!

I dropped this book 1\2 star because of the completely unnecessary OW drama that took up no more than one page.

Fantastic read. One of those rare western romances that make you cry. I let this book get away from me after the first read so I'm re-reading so I can put it on my keeper shelf.

Preface

Skylar had a temper and a streak I grew to admire. I just wish she knew how to stick to her guns when she needed to. It would have annoyed me if I had not enjoyed the back and forth between her and the hero. I admired that she did not step back when encroached to leave. She wanted a home, a place where she didn’t need to pretend to be what she wasn’t. Her father having raised her as a son when all she wanted was to be a girl- to have stable place where she was not always at risk- was unfair. I hated he lied enough times to scar the heroine towards life- and in a way the hero.

Tucker was… something when we are first introduced to him. He was set on never marrying giving the traumatic past he had with his step-mother. Of course, he was set on not being married AFTER getting married. 10/10 performance. His preconceived ideas of women and matrimony in general had me rolling my eyes. I still had fun with him as a character. Both him and Skylar were full of conundrums and hypocrisies. All of that was handled in a fun engaging way. I would be lying if I didn’t say I wanted to shake them both sometimes and tell them to stop being silly. However, for the most part I was glad to just seat back, laugh, and watch them handle their mommy and daddy issues in ways that were laudable in their ineffectiveness. It made it all that sweet when they figured it out that they didn’t need to be apart to solve their issues; that as a couple they could help each other.

Plus that first chapter was something else. Never have I been wholly confused about what was going in a way that made sense (confused? Me too). It was like arriving into a full swing party where you don’t know anyone or anything, and witnessing a wedding, a gambling win, everyone taking shots and someone getting knocked out by a cast iron Tangled style within the first 5 second of walking in. Add some blinding disco lights, with some 90s dance songs and you have the whole picture. Except, this is the old west… so maybe a banjo?

RATINGS:

Plot : 3 📚📚📚 A good amount of plot. There is murder, the classic post-coital kidnapping, horse thieving, romance, will they won’t they, and annoying siblings.

World Building(Immersion): 3 🌎🌎🌎 Submerged. I did feel like I was a cowgirl; which means I was completely immersed…A pity because there is 2 spider jump scares in this and I was completely creeped out.

Angst : 2 👹👹 Having your arm pinched. I understand looking for a home and never finding it… so yeah.

Funniness: 2 🌝🌝 I laughed inwardly.

Scariness: 1 💀 Not really, I just truly hate spiders.

Romance: 3 💖💖💖 Aw, it was cute.

Spice: 3 🌶🌶🌶 Explicit, but not a big part of the story.

Goriness: 2.5 🫀🫀 💫 Someone died and I kinda witnessed it.

Sadness: 1.5 🥲💫 A twinge.

Overall star rating :4 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Highly enjoyable.

🚨🚨🚨MILD SPOILERS 🚨🚨🚨

The Good Place:
▫️Tuck. He tried me at times, I came to like him. He was throughly enamored by Skylar since the beginning. Once he finally admitted I started to have peace, because before then he was having some ideas that wanted me to 👊🏻.
▫️Skylar. She was amazing. I loved that she didn’t back down from a chalenge; that she didn’t give up wanting girly things just because she was good and like what she did- which was a stereotypical “man” job. The best parts where when she put Tuck (and by extension Chance), in their respective places. I grew to enjoy that even further when Tuck began to enjoy it too. Seeing her through his point of view was a treat.
▫️Garret. The cutest little brother. He was a sweet kid.
▫️Chance. He annoyed me. I can’t however throw people in hell just because I didn’t mesh with them. Jk I totally can, this is my review after all. I’m not putting him in the Bad Place because he was a good brother and did come through with his mom’s wedding ring for Skylar. He was also good with Garret. Otherwise, I don’t look forward to his book. 🙃

The Bad Place:
▪️Randal. Screw him.
▪️Skylar’s dad. Terrible parent.
▪️ Spiders. Can’t find in me to ever like them.

Romance Safety:
Safe. Hero was experienced; celibate for a good while (implied). the h was a virgin, her only experience was with a kiss and a terrible guy almost forcing himself on her. There is slight OW dram when the hero goes into a town, running across a widow he used to spend his time with (🙄 sometimes the most magical thing about such books is not the cheesy romance, last minute saves or even miracle babies- it is the fact that none of the manwhore heros have STDs). 🚨🚨🚨🚨 SPOILERS 🚨🚨🚨🚨

Some ( Very Random) Moments of Notice Along With (Sometimes) My Very Live Reactions Straight From My Notes App to You:

📌Tuck's bride already showed him what-for with a fryin' pan," one said, flashing a broad, toothless grin.
The other cackled with wild laughter. "Give 'im hell, honey," he called out. "He deserves every blow.”

Lmao what is even going onnn

📌I'm not really certain," she replied, keeping her gaze on her unconscious groom. "Everything happened so fast. If I did, I'm sure it wasn't legal." She hooked her arms under Tucker's broad shoulders.
"You weren't gone but five minutes!"

I’m sure this is quicker than a Vegas wedding 😂

📌The boy sat at the table, calm as you please, holding a rifle aimed straight at Tucker's chest.
"Mister, I believe you just called my sister a whore."
"Garret!" called the woman. "I'm sure that's not what he meant. Is it, Mr. Morgan?"

Lol 😂 Garret is amazing

📌The boy grinned. "She already kicked you out, huh?"
"She didn't kick me nowhere." Tucker scowled, still mad as hell that he'd been tossed out of his own house. "I don't take orders from overrighteous females."
"If you got a problem with girls givin' orders, you bes' get over it. Sky knows her business about horses. She won't be buffaloed by no man."

📌Tucker!" she shrieked as he collided against her. Despite the jolt of pain, Skylar felt a rush of relief as Tucker's arms closed around her, clamping her against his broad chest as he gained his balance."Hey, darlin'," he said, easing back as he sat beside her. "That shotgun out of shells?"
His light tone didn't belie the true irritation burning in his eyes. "Yeah," she said with reluctance.

📌She met his gaze with glistening eyes. "I want to go home," she whispered.
"I'll take you home," he said, wanting desperately to ease the pain in those sapphire eyes. "I swear it, Skylar."
"I'm so tired," she said again.
"I know you are, darlin'." He inched a bit closer and draped his arm across her waist. "Rest. I'll watch over you."

📌Do you plan to ignore me the rest of the way to Wyoming?"
Skylar glanced over her shoulder as Tucker rode up beside her. "I do," she said with flat honesty. She'd been doing her best to do just that for the past two days.
"Well, I don't intend to make that an easy option."

📌I have a confession to make," he said in a gruff whisper, passion constricting his throat. "You scare the hell out of me."
He'd never wanted anything the way he wanted her. He eased back, meeting her gaze. Skylar's eyes widened with blatant surprise.
"Tucker."
"Angel girl."
The corners of her mouth twitched with the hint of a smile, and he felt an explosion of warmth. The endearment pleased her. Dear God, how he wanted to please her. Since he'd spent the night holding her in his arms, he'd craved her smiles.

📌"Little brothers, huh?" he said as he met her gaze. "Can't live with 'em, can't shoot 'em." Grinning, he winked at her.

📌He wouldn't have seduced her if he feared it was her most fertile time of month

Sir… do you have her mestrual cycle calendar hidden somewhere? I didn’t even find out about this science until 3 years.

📌What do I have to feel guilty about?" he grumbled under his breath. He thought he'd handled the situation with Amanda quite well. It wasn't as if he could control who they ran into on the street!

Lmao boy you are dumb all it takes is some perspective imagine if that had been you.

📌"Feel better?" he asked.
Skylar dropped to her knees beside him. The moment she had stripped off her wet clothing and pulled on her first petticoat she had felt quite thankful of Tucker's insistence. "Yes " she admitted, and snatched her fork from his hand. "Now move aside, you're burning our supper."
He didn't budge an inch as she crowded in beside him to rotate the turkey. The warmth radiating from his body warmed her blood far more efficiently than her dry clothes had.
"Listen," he said after a moment of silence. "I may have overreacted a bit earlier."
"Just a bit?" Skylar asked, glancing up at him.
"I'm not taking back what I said, just the way I said it."
"Is that an apology or a statement?" she asked, amused by the sudden sternness of his handsome features.
"Both," he said, dipping his head and brushing his mouth lightly across hers.

📌"You must think I'm a real bastard."
"No, I don't."
"The hell you don't! What else could you call someone who uses you for their own selfish needs while robbing you blind?"
"A man!"

😬

📌Things were what they were. He wanted her, but he didn't love her. He deserved the pain she'd seen in his eyes before she turned and fled. The truth hurt.
It hurts like burning hell.

🥸 I love seeing a woman unhinged ngl.

📌She couldn't settle. She wanted Tucker, but she deserved a husband.

📌Tell me that you'll be my wife," he said when they paused for breath.
"Tell me you love me," she countered.
"I love you," he said, his voice fraught with urgency.
"Then I'll be your wife."

Great story! I'm not so much into American history (only what I saw in the movies) and I'm not sure if women were so independent and strong and men were so kind and nice but I totally enjoyed the story.
Mostly I love how our heroine tried to protect her brother and how our hero tried to protect the heroine and her brother.

A great story, recommended! Infact, I'm already onto 2nd one!

What a wonderful western. The romance of Skylar and Tucker, a couple to die for, is a must-read. Stacey Kayne's incredible style pulls you into her story from the first page.

I swear, someone needs to take my Kindle away cause I'm down the rabbit-hole of the western romance genre and I have zero regrets. Skylar Daines has been dressing as a boy for a good portion of her life to help her father tame horses. That's pretty cool, but she's sick of all the lying and of the nomadic lifestyle they've been living and demands better. She thinks she's going to get it until her father is murdered in a mutinous scheme. To try to save some piece of that future, she seeks out her father's business partner and finds his twin brother- whom she immediately accidentally marries.

I didn't mind Tucker as a character all that much. He was okay, and I do appreciate that both the brothers came to appreciate her skills. I wish she didn't want to be a wife and mother so much, since she's such a cool and prospectively independent character. The entirety of the plot was pretty simple and straightforward aside from her skill, so you can see why I wanted more.

I like the marriage of convenience trope, this one didn't really convince me it could have been all that accidental. It went against Skylar's later established character for her to make such an impulsive and forced decision. I didn't like that part and I didn't like how long they went back and forth between hating and loving each other. That's the typical problem I have with romances in the enemies-to-lovers categories and might just be my own impatience.

If you like simple western romances, which is really all I have the mental capacity for right now, then this is a perfect read for you. There's nothing all that problematic, it's not entirely clean but it doesn't have those awkwardly intense sex scenes either. It's pretty much middle of the road on all fronts.

Mustang Wild

Skylar and her brother ride into a tent city looking for the man who was to buy her horses. Instead she finds his twin brother, Tucker, and is tricked into marrying him. Neither want to be married, but he was drunk and she thought that he was the man her father had told her to find. As time goes by, she and Tuck can't keep their hands off each other and when she is taken by the man that shot her father in the back, killing him, Tucker can't get to her fast enough. He realizes that he can't and will not live without her.

I really enjoyed it. Both Tuck and Sky were great chatacters: hard-working, honest, strong. I liked the family dynamic as well. I do wish they realized their feelings (Tucker) earlier, and expressed them to each other! And then I wished we had more of their domestic life together as well. This whole book is a road-trip, it would have been nice to see them settle down.
One thing annoyed me about the writing: there are a bunch of time transitions that are not separated from the previous paragraph, it makes it difficult to follow.

2.5 stars.

I really liked the beginning of this but I could not stand the heroine. It took the author way too long to bring her around and for her to stop acting like a spoiled brat.

I appreciated her independent streak but she got annoying real quick.

A wild ride

I like the way the author developed the characters and the plot of the story. I enjoyed the interaction between the brother and sister.
