As Christmas approaches, Hope O'Hara is in desperate straits: unless she can find paying guests for the house she has lovingly restored, she'll lose it to creditors. Enter one literal knight in shining armor--valiant and virile Ronan MacLeod, who is swept 700 years through time to save Hope from a potentially fatal accident...and to discover a passion for the ages.

Roberta Helmer is an American writer of Chinese art and culture and as Christina Skye is a best-selling USA Today and Publishers Weekly writer of over 23 romance novels. Her romance book have been translated into 8 languages.
Roberta Helmer was born in Dayton, Ohio, U.S.A., an is a descendant of Revolutionary War hero Adam Helmer. I read all of the Draycott series in paperback many years ago. I have downloaded them all and am rereading on my iPad. Still the same great stories that are timeless in there entertaining and captivating in holding yo from start to finish. Wheather a new reader or old friend you won't be disappointed.
3.5 stars for the uneven parts of both stories - but both are good and worth reading as part of the series
Another two-fer in the Draycott Abbey series.
Christmas Night introduces us to Hope O'Hara, trying to make a go of her new B&B in the Scottish Glenbrae House. The three sisters in the neighboring cottage with more than a little magic give Hope just what she wants and needs - a romance that hopefully leads to a family. All of Hope's family is gone now, and she's losing her spirits in the fight to keep the B&B, stave off the horrid Winston Wyndgate, and make the necessary repairs without a handy man. It's coming up on Christmas - Hope's favorite season. But even her French chef Gabby and her boyfriend Jeff and their schemes to create a "ghost" to attract customers to the B&B can't keep Hope from feeling lonely. She finds herself talking to the life-sized portrait of the unknown MacLeod warrior in the stairway.
So the 3 weird sisters decide to take action, and they bring Ronan MacLeod from the 13th century into the present, just in time to rescue Hope as she falls from the roof trying to make repairs during a storm. It's a bit irritating how Hope can't see Ronan's a man out of time; I realize it's tough to believe he's just come from the 13th century, but it takes far too long for her to believe him. And the story drags a bit in the middle, as Ronan constantly backs away from Hope because of his "honor". I understand he's concerned about when he might be swept back to his own time and all, but still...
Despite the occasional lags and drags, it's a fun story that includes Nicholas, Kacey, and their 5-year old Genevieve. And a mystery!
Moonrise is one of the more unusual in this series... Sara Nightingale is an FBI agent working alone in Draycott Abbey, poring through maps trying to discover where the long-lost treasure of Marco Polo might be buried. Marston barely makes an appearance, which is very disappointing. But Adrian is in full-force, in fact, he becomes flesh in this story!
Adrian is doing his usual yearly old to new sweep and protection spells over Draycott Abbey. Except just as he sweeps away the old, a black cloud and force takes over, preventing him from putting the new protection in place. An old friend/rival, Navarre, a knight of medieval times, comes out of the black, seeking revenge on Adrian. Here's where it gets weird to me... Adrian seems to have full knowledge of events that took place during the lifetime of another Viscount of Draycott Abbey - one from the medieval times. And Navarre recognizes Adrian - even speaks of him as if Adrian were the Viscount from that time?!
Regardless, Gabriel Navarre thinks that Adrian betrayed him and slept with his ward - the woman that Gabriel was fighting to get permission from the king to wed. Except that someone else was involved with kidnapping the woman and deliberately misleading Gabriel about Adrian, leading to Gabriel's defeat. Before he dies, Gabriel makes a vow of revenge... one that evil cannot resist. So rather than dying, Gabriel is swept up into the dark clouds of evil, living in the in-between until he can exact his revenge.
Sara Nightingale is, of course, the reincarnation of Gabriel's ward. It's through her that Gabriel allows Adrian from moonrise to moonrise to get his affairs in order before Gabriel destroys Draycott Abbey and all in it. Except that as Gabriel realizes who Sara is, he falls in love with her and she with him - or they remember their past love.
But the forces of evil aren't so easily put down. And it will take the combined magic of Gabriel, Sara, and Adrian to stop the evil from spilling out from the in-between and destroying all in its path. Can they do it in time? ---- Moonrise was good, but... the inconsistencies of who Adrian is and what he remembers bothered me. (Yes, I know about his part in Nicholas' life. But it was never before mentioned that Adrian has lived or knows about the lives of other Viscounts of the Draycott family until conveniently now.)
In re-reading the Christina Skye books, I'm remind of how much I enjoyed most of them. This has the "Christmas Knight" with Hope O'Hara who has bought a decrepit castle and is about to go under trying to fix it up. To that end, her neighbors import a knight... from 700 years ago. Ronan MacLeod is at first confused because home he has only recently been awarded by the king seems incredibly different. In fact, there is a random woman claiming that she actually owns the castle. The two eventually figure out their differences and Ronan helps her defeat her present day enemies. "Moonrise" is a new story that is startlingly similar to the other one in this book. Sara needs help from a current-day enemy and a knight from the past is imported to help her. Well, this one is from the Crusades and has come back to avenge himself against Adrian, the Draycott ghost. It turns out that Sara is actually reincarnated from the love of the knight's life. He had been told that she and Adrian had cheated with him and had opened up the gates of hell (or something like that) in order to avenge himself. now they not only have to battle the men who are after a map to secret treasure but the shadows that are threatening to take over the world as well.
Christmas Knight - Amazingly enough, a Christina Skye novel in which the Hero is not a brute that I'd like to smack. He's plenty alpha and from the past, but he's not an ass. In fact he's very honorable and careful with Hope because he has no idea when he's going to be sent back in time. Hope gets a little frustrating with her insistence that Ronan is probably insane and that he's definitely not from the past - surprise! There's also a significant degree of magic and paranormal here, as Adrian Draycott is somewhat corporeal and three witches interfere in Hope and Ronan's affairs. But this is really a good story and the romance is quite lovely!
Moonrise - I don't remember seeing this published separately anywhere...perhaps it's in a novella that isn't printed anymore. It is standard Christina Skye with the dominating alpha male who knows what he wants and takes it without first checking with the heroine that it's okay. There's also the interference of past lives which basically justifies the insta-love...so at the end you're not sure if they love each other for real or just because they were destined.

Christmas is the season for miracles and Hope O’Hara desperately needs one. If she doesn’t find a way to solve her financial difficulties fast, creditors will take her house. She needs paying guests to rescue her. Instead, a real knight, Ronan MacLeod, appears. A timeless love awaits Hope and Ronan, if only he can prevent a fatal accident that threatens her life and their love.
Moonrise
The past, the present and the future, as Albert Einstein said, all happen at once in MOONRISE by Christina Skye. Sara Nightingale, an FBI agent, takes a much-needed break at Draycott Abbey. While mourning her colleague’s death, she meets Navarre. A warrior from the crusades, he needs to complete his dangerous mission through time. Then he meets Sara, who makes him feel that time stands still. A love to last through all the ages is theirs to keep if only fate allows them to have their chance under the MOONRISE.
Christina Skye never disappoints her readers. DRAYCOTT EVERLASTING kept me intrigued from beginning to end.
I had previously read Christmas Knight, as this book was a re-release of that story with a new novella. Christmas Knight is a 5 star story. Moonrise I would give 3.5 stars too. A good story, although limited by it's length. But it was great to see Adrian again (as always), and the hero was another delicious treat!
the novel, I'd read before. the novella was new and I enjoyed it thoroughly. I just don't see how Adrian could have been a crusader..he's not from that century. but I loved Navarre and brave Sara.
