About the author

Educator and mediator, Fred Jandt was a professor in State University of New York, the California State University, and Victoria University in New Zealand. Before retirement he was dean of the Palm Desert Campus of the California State University.

He is the author of many books in the areas of conflict management and intercultural communication including WIN-WIN NEGOTIATING translated into several languages and AN INTRODUCTION TO INTERCULTURAL COMMUNICATION in its eleventh edition. Recent books include CONFLICT AND COMMUNICATION, NEGOTIATION AND MEDIATION, and HOW TO SURVIVE A MEDIATION.

He has continued hundreds of seminars in conflict resolution for businesses, government and public services organizations and has trained hundreds of individuals wanting to become mediators. He has been active in many nonprofit organizations including the Palm Springs Library, the Palm Springs Air Museum, and elected trustee of the Desert Community College District.

It was a good informative book that went well with the class. gave a good view on the cultures of the world and what one can do to improve relationships with those from different cultures than yourself. make me think about how to communicate effectively with people that i know and see weekly from different cultures. good book overall, especially to those who want to go traveling and see other cultures.
