This book was an enjoyable read that brought to life the characters who settled and inhabited late 19th century/early 20th century Pasadena. Written 40 years ago, the author was observing from the context of the early 1960s how much Pasadena/Los Angeles had changed. In our own context today, it would serve as an excellent template for anyone attempting to write an historical novel set in Los Angeles (such as myself) and deserves to be included in LA Writing Anthologies, where I have yet to find it. Thank you to my aunt for recommending this special book by her late professor, an icon of LA literary/academic history.
