Sade’s life has finally found a normal that she can be content with, even if it still isn’t peaceful. On top of that, it is promised to be ripped away from her as soon as the summer draws to a close.
No matter how many times she tells herself this over that final summer of security, when the moment comes to fly into the unknown she is still a confused mess.
When she finally arrives at her destination, she finds herself with absolutely no control on what happens to her next - and to make it worse there seems to be a two-faced jester steering the ship she’s been put on. All Sade wants to do is make sure she knows now what love is, because she doesn't want it to fly away before she can capture it.
Meanwhile, there is a battle for her heart that she never saw coming. Issues with Lock that she was forced to reconcile with last spring cause her to doubt everything she has with Kit, a man who fiercely protects Sade and loves her even through her confusion. The last thing Sade would ever want to do would be to harm Kit, yet that is exactly what happens; she may even end up losing him for good because of it.
Can a man who abandoned her ten years ago solve any of the problems that Sade is being thrown into? Can new friends be enough to support her through intrigue and peril that belongs on a movie set? Can Sade live through - and love through - a life that is full of death?
On her journey across a nation, through war, starvation and abandonment, Sade must decide if the foundation she’s chosen for her courage is steady - and she has more time than she thought she would to sit around and find out.
