This book has taken me numerous times to get into. The main stumbling point is the text size, it is so tiny and not something I can read before bed.
So far the plot is OK, dated as I would expect (25 years old). The cover makes it look like a Harlequin Romance, but the romantic subplot is merely that, a subplot and not the main focus of the book. Like other 'suspense' books, the story is not focused on the medicine 100% of the time, but there is enough medicine to keep me intrigued, and the main plot actually uses scenes from the trauma center quite often in playing out.
All told, it was a mediocre book. Another issue I had with it was that the protagonist's name was Allan Kirk while the main antagonist was Al Anthony, so you've got the 2 main characters with essentially the same first name, and they also have 'first names' as their last names, so it got very confusing at times. Most of the other doctors in the book don't have the best character development, and there were other times I got lost in the details while reading, but the book held my interest enough to finish.
