Great big school! In we go!
Our teacher greets us, waves "hello!"

A teacher and her class do lots of interesting things throughout the week. They paint, read, look at weather charts, count money, work on the computer, and greet a special guest. The students not only learn, but they have fun, too. And so does the teacher! Accompanying each spread are Nancy Speir’s cheerful illustrations rendered in acryclic paint.

Patricia Hubbell lives with her husband, Harold Hornstein, in Easton, Connecticut, the small town where she was born.

This is a perfect little story in rhyme that doesn't miss a beat. It is the type of book that is perfect for the beginning reader as the words are easy to decipher, the story is fun and one that the young student can relate to. The artwork is simple like a modern day "Dick and Jane" and is quite appealing. I enjoyed walking through memory lane spending a week in the classroom with the children. This would be a perfect story to read during circle or storytime!

This book would introduce the concept of school to preschoolers. This easy read picture book organizes what a day at school looks like. The illustrations cover each and every page throughly and are smooth and have a calming effect. This book could also be used within K-2 if a student wanted to learn about what a teacher does.

My daughter has been asking a lot of questions about community helpers, and I knew Patricia Hubbell had a few books about different careers, so I just went to the shelf and grabbed whatever the public library had on hand. This book is really more about kids interacting with their teacher than it is about what teachers do all day, so it might not be as useful to my homeschooling family as it would be to others. Still, one of my daughter's grandmothers works in a school, so there is a personal connection to the story, and it does provide some opportunities to talk about what Grandma might do at work.

This is the story of a teacher that greets her student’s everyday and teaches them many school lessons. Lessons such as their ABCs, counting numbers, how to read and spell, and teaches students how to work together. This is a great book to read for the first week of school for new students entering a classroom. This book allows you to understand what a teacher does and how they are able to help you. This is even a good book to point out some rhyming words and it gives u ideas for lesson plans if you run out of ideas what to do.

3* art
3* rhyme

Squirt picked this out by himself at the library. I'm always interested to see what attracts him - because of course, he can't read, so he's judging a book by it's cover alone. Not sure what it was about this cover! (Not that it's bad.) Anyway, a nice way to introduce a toddler to the idea of school, and what happens there.

A good book for a kid about to start school. It broke down the school day with good illustrations showing a new student what to expect by explaining what the teacher does. Plus, it rhymes.
