Rate this book
Josh, between his freshman and sophomore years of college, gets a job at the pottery, a place where sweaty men dressed in sleeveless T-shirts, with biceps glistening and bulging, hoist heavy molds and liquid clay.

For Josh, it's an eye-opening summer, building his own muscles and falling in love for the very first time. But falling in love is never uncomplicated, especially when two hot men have caught Josh's eye. Which one of them will claim Josh's virgin territory? Will it be Dale, the heavy-metal blond God with the tattoos and rough demeanor? Or will Kevin, Josh's beefy, red-haired Irish boss, steal his heart, along with a few other parts further south?

Come along for a ride during one long, hot summer where the job benefits for an aroused young man are way more than what Human Resources promised!

If you are a fan of Habu (and I admit, I like some of his stuff when the mood strikes) this will be a great addition to your reading collection. If I had not known it was RRR, I would swear it was Habu.

This is a quick story with no real plot, written as sort of a memoir of bygone youth and conscienceless slutty-ness in an era when condoms were optional. Certainly this is not a romantic erotic story. It is strictly erotica (the type detractors of erotica would point to as little more than porn) with lots of sex and no real emotion or connection between characters.

There is a place for this type of story and at times I love this light, graphic, naughty type of read. Additionally, it is RRR so it is well written, but it was not what I expected it to be so it felt more cheap then titillating.

Josh is spending the summer working to save money for his sophomore year of college. He ends up landing a job at Wall China, an industrial pottery in a small Pennsylvania town where he will be surrounded by sweaty, beefy men. Plenty of eye candy for the young gay man. The work is tough but three months of slaving away will get Josh in great shape as his muscles are put to work each day. Josh's attentions are caught by two men in particular, his boss Kevin and co-worker Dale. Kevin is married with a wife and kids while Dale is nineteen and by all appearances quite straight. Both men have a few surprises up their sleeves, or down their pants, for Josh.

Pottery Peter is quite different from anything I've read from Reed who calls this his "filthiest, funnest story" which is a "foray into hot, sweaty, industrial-sized sex". Filthy is right as this is filled with cock, and a bit of "man muscle" and "lovepole" as well. This story is the sexual awakening of a young man in his prime, at an age when men revel in the ability to come and start immediately getting hard again. This is not a romance, nor does it pretend to be. It's a down and dirty sexual romp, a little slice of porn fun wrapped up in a little tale. Make no mistake, it's sinfully erotic, but it is a raunchy tale of sex to titillate and arouse not to move with deep plots or in depth characterizations.

There is quite an interesting turn of events at the very end of the story, a "twist" that places the story into a bit of a different perspective. I can just see Reed sitting back with a smug look on his face as he typed out that ending. His sexually explicit tale is just one point in a young man's life when sex is the key to everything and this is merely the beginning for him.

Reed uses many euphemisms for the male anatomy, and although some of then made me chuckle and most of them I just flew right by, a couple made me stumble. One in particular involves use of a word that I'm pretty sure doesn't exist, "But in seconds, without even touching myself, I felt the first hot splash of splounge on my chin, then my neck, then all over my chest." I'm all for using inventive and over-the-top phrases, especially in a story like this, but that one actually stopped my reading as I tried to ponder what was intended. Although I did trip a few times while reading, in the end I was still able to enjoy the story, which is the most important part. If you're looking for a steamy erotic tale that goes straight to the sex and doesn't require wading through an overabundance of plot, then definitely grab this tale. Thank goodness you only need one hand to read!

Who knew Rick Reed could write pure porn? He has written the classic pure porn without a plot story that spans a mere 20 pages, 6k words to be precise. This is a short story meant to entertain and titillate (I think) and full of raunchy, outrageous sex. It’s partly tongue in cheek - and yes that does apply to every conceivable use of that phrase - partly humorous and completely outrageous. Reed has even made up a few new porn terms. There is not much depth to this book, besides the obvious.

Considering the author wrote this purely to entertain with hilarious turn of phrases, descriptions, and love poles, there is not much for me to really analyze or talk about. This particular story didn’t appeal to me but far be it for me to judge what another person may enjoy in the porn variety. I do realize some don’t appreciate incestuous tentacle porn (plebeians) so I’ll just add a few quotes here and if this seems like your kind of fun, go for it. It’s at a cheap price for a couple of bucks so if you like the quotes and want the story for some fun with your favorite toy, enjoy.

I gobbled him, my spit leaking out of my mouth to cover his shaft and balls. I could hear his breath quickening and his balls drawing up closer to his body. I shut my eyes, wanting whatever he would give me, burying my face in the fiery curls of his bush. He grunted and pumped my mouth full of hot cum. I could barely breathe—let alone swallow—as his cock spit out what seemed like an unending load. Oh my God, I thought—greedily gulping down his cream and savoring its starchy taste—this is what I’ve always wanted.

“If I’m not careful, I’m gonna shoot down that college boy throat…and I can think of a lot better place for my scum.” He pulled his dick out of my mouth and I reached out for one final taste.

Dale threw my legs in the air and spit on my asshole. His dick was already dripping with his pre-cum and my spit. He poised the head of his dick against my sphincter, then slowly shoved in, deeper and deeper, invading that dark, dank manly hole.

I felt the cum building in my balls. I shut my eyes and bit my lip, willing it not to happen. But in seconds, without even touching myself, I felt the first hot splash of splounge on my chin, then my neck, then all over my chest.

I looked up and saw Kevin’s ass, open and spilling some of Dale’s seed. I put my mouth to that just-fucked asshole and sucked out a taste of Dale’s sweet nectar. Then I stood, turned, and kissed him.

I have the idea that there are two Rick R. Reed out there; one that tends toward the horror side when he writes long novels, and one that prefers hot and dirty erotica when he writes short stories. Then I know that he is the same person since, long or short, his characters are always deep, with a background and a future, even if their story lasts only 30 pages.

Josh is a young college student at the end of the '70. At 18 years old he has not enough money to pay for College and so he takes a summer job in a pottery. Nothing fancy or artistic, he basically shifts crates. Josh is also gay but still in the closet, and at the end of the '70 it's not like you can come out and live happily ever after. And so to Josh, the summer is like a torture, being near so many sweaty bodies and not being able to "taste" any of them. He fantasizes about Dale, another young man working there, but he has no the courage to speak to him... Dale is all "straight" man and probably a blue collar worker, so what young Josh, gay and scholar, could have in common with him? To distance them even more, Dale discovers Josh while he is giving head to Kevin, their boss. From that moment on Dale spends the summer avoiding Josh, and Josh is fearing his last day at the pottery, when he will loose Dale and all his summer wet dreams.

Even if short, there is almost a "scary" twist right at the end of the story (and here the "usual" Rick R. Reed comes out again), that actually makes it something more than a simple piece of erotica. I continue to use the word erotica instead of romance, since it's not love that Josh is searching, he is an horny 18 years old guy, and in that moment of his life, he needs more a sex than love. And also the period is right, end of the '70, when the plague of AIDS was not yet fell down on people, and so the only trouble Josh has is to find someone like him.

Hot little story about a young mans summer job in college, set in 1979.. Pretty much just porn, but for what it is, it was fine. Nice storytelling.
