This is one of those books that I checked out of the library and took a couple weeks to skim through. I took some notes for future research (names and titles I wasn’t familiar with, mostly). All in all, this is a good resource for info on lesbian history!

This book was published in either 1993 or 1994, and most of the material included in the book wasn't current even then - it's a compilation of writings that go back as far as 1928, with an excerpt of "The Well Of Loneliness" by Radclyffe Hall. There are excerpts of other lesbian books, as well as a lot of pieces about the lesbian/feminist movement of the late 1960s through the mid 1970s. There's a section about so-called "women's music", which really means "lesbian music". There's a lot of poetry, which I didn't read because I'm not into poetry, especially the kind that purports itself to be avant garde by having different sentences or paragraphs indented differently. There are a few stories about lesbian utopias in make-believe lands, and stories by a woman who calls herself Elena Dykewoman, which I didn't read because I can't possibly take that name seriously.

I enjoyed some of the material in this book, and some of it I didn't care for at all. Not sure if I'll keep this book or not. I've owned it for almost 20 years and I don't remember if I even read it all the way through when I first bought it.

This is a collection of essays and artwork of many fabulous and fabulous dykes, and many people I've never heard of.
