Donald is a redhead, but he doesn't feel like he lives up to the stereotype and hype of his hair color. Normal in every way and set in his routine because of a bad experience in his youth, he refuses to venture outside of his comfort zone. Then he meets Brian at the local Auto Club office, and his world is turned upside down.
Brian is everything Donald wants to be: spontaneous, vivacious and outgoing. He's even been to Antarctica, a place Donald only dreams of going. Caught between the comfort and safety of the life he knows and the thrill of the adventure he's always dreamed of, Donald has to decide if he's willing to add a little ginger to his life.
Donald is a young man with a lifelong dream of visiting Antarctica but no real expectations of ever getting there. He's shy and uncomfortable around people because of his red hair and the attention it gets. When he meets Bryan, the cute agent at the Auto Club, he's fascinated to hear about his travels but even though Bryan gives Donald his phone number he doesn't call him.
Part of him wanted something different, something so far from his normal life, but he knew it would never happen.
Some people were just made for blandness.
Luckily for him a chance encounter with a large dog one day, and the dog's cute owner, may just lead Donald down the road to love and dreams fulfilled.
I liked both Donald and Bryan. They're normal everyday guys and although they appear very different they both share a desire for something more in their lives. Donald longs to travel and be 'normal', something he's never really felt because of his attention getting appearance and shyness. Bryan is looking for someone to share his life, which up to now has been 'gypsy-like and exciting' but also lonely at times.
This short story, only 41 pages, has a simple but interesting storyline and likable characters. I appreciated the fact that the one sex scene was not over the top instead it was sweet and fit the characters and tone of the story very well. Overall I found this to be a well written and enjoyable story that is sure to please.
This shorty is comical and a bit melodramatic. It has to be hard to be as shy and introverted as was Donald in this story. But it was cool, that he found Bryan. I liked them as a couple.
