It's a nice short story about an ex-FBI and a young doctor. I couldn't say anything more, unfortunately. This is one of those that is just a nice read for me but doesn't really stand out.

A good read with a well thought out plot that flowed well for a short story. Griff Rieckert is an ex-FBI agent with a messed up knee. Griff wakes up after a blackout night of drinking next this gorgeous guy and tries to remember what happened. The hot hunk turns out to be a pediatrician, Sean Avery. Griff is passing through life aimlessly since his accident and forced retirement but life can take a turn for the better. I wish the story had been longer. Really liked the two main characters, Griff and Sean.

Nice story and I liked the characters, but the whole hostage situation took too long, in my opinion, and I'd really prefer these pages were instead devoted to further describing Griff and Sean's relationship.

A short but intense story from this author who I'm lately hooked on, she gives us a great mm romance but always heavily wrapped in police/armed forces and that adds spice and danger to the tale. This one has Griff still coming to terms and in constant pain with his career killing injuries. A cute young pediatrician has his eye on Griff and off we go, it's a bumpy but fun ride.

A former FBI agent who nearly loses his leg while trying to stop a carjacking—with a baby in the car—Griff is bitter, depressed and self-medicating with alcohol much more than he should. He misses his job and has been forcibly retired by the FBI since he can’t possibly pass the physical to be a field officer any longer. When he wakes up horribly hungover in a strange bed next to a gorgeous man he barely remembers, maybe, just maybe, it’s time to make some changes.

The man turns out to be a pediatrician whose sister is also going through PT at the same rehab. Sean is a really nice guy, and he encourages Griff to keep at the PT and figure out what he wants to do. He tries to convince Griff that his life isn’t over and that he just needs to reinvent himself and find something that he’s good at and would like to pursue.

They get closer and begin to text and talk daily, and Sean meets Griff for dinner, or they do take out, or one of them cooks. Things are getting more than causal but neither are ready or able to put that into words. But when Sean is put in danger and Griff has the opportunity to help—despite being afraid that he’s not up to the challenge—Griff goes with his instincts and helps in an extremely volatile situation. This is the catalyst for both men to confront their true feelings as well as maybe a new beginning.

A.R. Moler is such a good short story writer. We get to know these two men in a short page count, but it’s pretty clear that if they can get out of their own way, they might have something real here. Griff is still coming to terms with his new normal, and Sean is a caring guy who can help him put things back together—if only Griff will let him in. I really enjoyed the way the relationship built naturally and was rooting for them to get it together and figure out that they belonged together. Recommended, particularly for short story lovers.

An entertaining short story with a realistic premise about an injured ex-FBI agent. The description of Griff's pain and frustration is well done, as is Sean's tenderness for him during this time (without being over-the-top) I liked both men and got just enough background to feel and emotional attachment to both. The scene at the hospital is well done, as is Sean's emotional aftermath. There's just a lot packed inside this little gem that I enjoyed.

Re-ignition was a short but good read. I'm a sucker for physically damaged characters so this story was right up my ally. Griff and Sean made a good couple and I liked that there was not pity on Seans side but a patient caring and understanding. The whole situation at the hospital in the end was a little fast but it's a short story so it's ok.

I think my reading order affected my view of this story.
It's short but was getting tedious then it got interesting before feeling familiar.
The story is about Griff, who is mentioned in In My Sights, and how he had to cope with his change in job status.

Short but quite enjoyable story of Griff coming back to life as Sean works his positivity on him. He is shown he can be attractive and through the danger Sean ends up in, is also shown he can still be useful in law enforcement.

4.6.22 reread : feel good story, love is the answer!

It was nice but a little too short. I would have liked to know a bit more about their realtionship and background.

It was cute, but the love happened too unbelievably fast. The end, though, was adorable. The book was a good time, but that's all.

3,5 heart review by Cindy

Griff is a man who is used to getting things done. His life as an FBI agent had him barging into danger and saving peoples lives and when a horrible injury on the job takes it all away from him, he’s lost and unsure of his place in the world. When he meets Sean, some of the “right” starts to come back. But as he already know, it can all disappear in a moment.

I liked this story. Griff is a man I couldn’t help but love because he’s an injured hero and one of the things I can relate to is struggling to find where you fit when things don’t go as you planned. His anger and frustration are understandable and justified but the author doesn’t let him wallow in it too long and I’m glad.

Sean is a bright ray of sunshine but he does it without being annoying or obnoxious. Both characters are well written and I love the whole premise of the story.

The only thing this tale suffers from is shortness. It’s a big story really, too big to be stuffed into so few pages. The author manages to get it told okay, but it would have benefited from a little more anticipation, a little more build up. I really would have liked to have gotten to know both men better.

All in all though, it’s an enjoyable way to spend an hour and I guarantee you will cheer for Griff and Sean’s happy ending the whole time.
