Monster Bites #1

Ihr Alien Priester

Rate this book
I’m the Hyrrokin High Priest of a remote monastery on the planet Salo. I spend my days in quiet contemplation, keeping my flame-throwing banked and nursing my war wounds. And I take my vows of silence and celibacy very seriously.

Very. Seriously.

Then one day a mouthy, gorgeous human female is dumped onto the stone steps of the main altar.

And suddenly I’m tempted like never before.

Warning: This is a ‘Monster Bites’ novella, a spin-off from the Monsters Love Curvy Girls series. Only read if you enjoy a taste of the profane, satanic-looking heroes and curvy-girl heroines.

The couple: Cabal and Lorelei

Romance genre: alien
Part of a series: Yes (spinoff of Monsters Love Curvy Girls)
Length: 914 locations on Kindle

Plot: Lorelei is a member of a family belonging to a very puritanical religious sect, and she just can't seem to get on board. She loves to read - especially romance novels - and she enjoys enjoying herself. In fact, her mom catches her in the closet partaking in some me time and has her shipped off to a nunnery. She's a victim of a mix-up though, and instead of taking her to the convent, the guards drop her off at monastery run by Cabal, a Hyrrokin priest who has taken a vow of celibacy and silence. It's difficult for them to communicate, but they manage, because Cabal realizes that Lorelei is his Bound, his fated mate. But what happens when Lorelei realizes that her being there will endanger Cabal's sacred vows?

Character development: These characters are so sweet! And honestly, I don't think I've ever read a book with religious characters that aren't preachy, but I never felt like the author was trying to teach me a lesson. Both Cabal and Lorelei were steady in their faith, and they propped each other up, and again - no preaching to the reader. I thought it was really sweet that they wanted to share their lives - their vocations - with each other, helping each other the best they could. They complemented each other: Cabal, steady and determined and reserved, and Lorelei, outgoing and sweet and curious. I appreciated that Cabal was so supportive and encouraging of her after she had been rejected by her family.

The best:

I read contraband romance ebooks with the frightening intensity of an apex predator on the prowl.
Not that there’s anything wrong with biographies of multigod saints. It’s just, I’ve read all of those and they’re not nearly as exciting as a duke in need of a bride. Sometimes the heroes of my original planet stories aren’t just “dukes” either, they’re also aliens, which is hilarious because I know actual “aliens” and these make-believe aliens the human authors from Earth dream up are nothing like the real thing. It’s pretty funny. There are also stories with cowboys and vampires and something called “bear shifters”? And groups of males who ride around on crazy contraptions called “motorcycles”? I can’t get enough of these. These stories carry me away from my daily drudgery and bring joy to my lonely existence.

Would I read more from this author/in this series: Yes

This spin-off seems to be the same as the main series, just shorter. I hope we are introduced to other alien species besides the Hyrrokin; a Creekan named Trax was presented at the very end, but a look at the synopsis tells me we meet another Hyrrokin in book #2.

As for this story, once again, the honor-bound, no, make that faith-bound male can't help his urges but still finds a way to succeed in his efforts without consequence. However, as much as I want to roll my eyes, it was a fun read.

This was a sweet tale of two beings who just want to love each other 🥰

A longer version would have been great too! I felt like there were some really great plot points that could have been expanded on.

Plus it would have been the icing on the cake if she got to rub it in her parents face! Muahaha Because why not!?

Mixed emotions

I like the fact they found love. However what rubbed me wrong was they refer to him as a demon breathing fire. Then they call him priest and her a nun. Rather have had an alien romance without the religion aspect.

Quick read

Nice little tale. Love the species and have read several of the curvy girls books before. This had a little twist with the religious element adding a little bit of angst and frustration to the mix.

Loved it

I enjoyed this book. It was short, but packed with goodness. No cheating. No ow/om drama. It was a perfect book for my tastes.

needs some research

The storyline is decent, but the romance is completely rushed as if the whole point is just to get to the sex as fast as possible.

Please, for the love of all that is holy, look up the definition of the word follicle!

I am now on book 3 but the repeated incorrect usage of the word follicle is distracting and somewhat annoying.

Trite tropes are fine but bad editing isn’t

I expected a smutty fantasy romance where I could leave my brain on the hat rack at the door. Even with adjusting my expectations, there were a few such glaring editing issues that they completely removed me from the story.

When the female lead first encounters the male lead, she explains in a lengthy passage that she was supposed to be placed elsewhere. On the next page she reiterates the same lengthy explanation. First I thought I had had a ministroke. It seems this was written in such a rush, author either didn’t bother with editing at all or just ran this through basic grammar checks.

This part just made me laugh out loud at how bad this was:

“I was given a universal translation chip the moment I arrived on Salo. Then those guards carted me off. They…they took my suitcase…” she says, clearly agitated. “Oh, it’s back now. Thank gods.”

No. I didn’t edit that part. In the span of a single inhale, she laments on the loss of all her worldly possessions and notices that they are right beside her. And no, her character is not supposed to be ditzy. She’s described (by herself, since everything is written from first person) as voluptuous, rebellious, studious, hardworking, and above all – humble. Unlike her (checks notes), ah yes, “bitchy cousin”, “gleeful sisters”, “screeching mother”, “whispering community women”, “complaining community men” and lest us forget her chauvinistic and zealous father. Woe is the female lead.

Thankfully she meets her dashing Satanic-looking priest who instantly smells that she’s a virgin and decides that a vow of celibacy isn’t really that important. And abstinence would be a great waste of his massive girth that (as he himself describes) is large even by the standards of his own species. And mind you, I’m not the least bothered by these tropes but to save me from the embarrassment of my poor literary taste, they’d need to at least incorporated well.

In “Her Alien Priest” the plot is regarded as an inconvenience to our ultimate goal of alien smut. Which is fine, I guess, but then author tosses a soft ball at herself and fails to catch it with:

“You know what would be perfect?” she says. “If we were both on your bed. It would be easier for me to do this deep massage.” I sit upright, thrown out of my reverie. I cannot have this female in my bed. Therein lies madness. I toss my robe back over my leg.”

Tf dude!? I wanted that torturous celibate massage scene!!!

Alas, author is too antsy to get into final act where there’s some miscommunication so that both leads can run away from each other, but also have that steamy rump and a vow of everlasting love.

I’m not sure, but I think the story takes place in the span of three days? So, I hope to be excused for my inability for suspend my disbelief enough to accept that after such an acquaintance a man would be ready to give up his religious vows and a woman would be happily impregnated. This could have been easily fixed by adding a throwaway sentence of: “The two continued their cohabitation for the following months, until the frozen marsh began to bloom with marigolds and cockoo flowers.” (Or whatever made up alien flowers.)

I’d love to spoil the ending and the introduction of our valiant last-hour hero, Trax. I’m afraid my writing will not do his character arc justice. For if no other reason, you owe it yourself to read “Her Alien Priest”.

This is a good sci-fi alien romance, but I did have some minor issues with it. It gets 3.5 stars from me, rounded up to 4 stars.

First, it was too short to have as much character development as I like. I would have liked a little more backstory on both Lorelei and Cabal.

Lorelei was likable, and I was glad she got away from her misogynistic family and church, and found an honorable priest in Cabal. I also liked that she wanted to help Cabal keep his vows of celibacy and silence, even though she knew they were falling in love. She was even willing to leave him, if that's what it took to help him keep his vows.

Cabal was likable, too, and so very honorable. He tried so hard to keep his vows, but his love for Lorelei made that difficult. He knew right away that she was his mate, and just wanted to protect/love her.

I liked that curvy girls were considered beautiful in Cabal's world, since everyone on his planet was much larger than any human. I also liked that Cabal was so very honorable, and tried to resist Lorelei because of his priest's vows.

I did think the multi gods religion seemed a little odd. A priest and a nun weren't normally expected to be celibate, and could get married? That is definitely different, and quite creative.

My rating system is below.
1 star -- Hated it, or did not finish. I usually only give this rating if some of the content is truly objectionable to me, like if one of the main characters does something really awful, and gets away with it.
2 stars -- Didn't like it. This rating usually means that I thought the writing wasn't very good, the editing was terrible, I didn't like the characters, or it had other major flaws.
3 stars -- I liked it, but had some minor issues with it. This rating means that there were minor editing issues, the story needed more character development, it was just too unrealistic, or had some other fairly minor issue. The majority of books I read get this rating – I do not consider it a bad rating.
4 stars -- I liked it a lot. This is a high rating for me, and I rarely give a higher one.
5 stars -- I loved it, and will probably read it again. Very few books are good enough to get this rating from me. The ones that do are usually classics.

Her Alien Priest is the story of Cabal and Lorelei Firestone former Hastings.

Tropes:
Priest x nun in training/penance for punishment
Age gap (you can tell there's a bit)
Hot bulky, burly, hyrrokin former military veteran hero
Sassy gets what she wants innocent and intelligent heroine
HEA and kids, 2 who are not named and another on the way
Touch her and you die
Possessive and protective

She is caught relieving herself by her religious parents and is kicked out and sent to a monastery in Salos to pay penance for her sins. She is sent to the wrong one and meets Cabal who has taken a vow of silence and celibacy. He is in awe of her and protects her from the guards. They grow a relationship where he listens and she talks but he loves it. They cook, clean, talk to pilgrimage people who are staying in the monastery. Weeks go by and mind you they sleep in the next room and one night they meet at the fireplace and mind you he's been in war and is an army veteran and wears a prosthetic leg. He goes in to kiss her and break his vow and she doesn't allow him and leaves for his own good and when he comes back from hours of praying and missing her hymnals, she finds a note of her leaving and rushes outside only to see her under a tree in the rain haha. She comes back and that same night he claims her and the next day he leaves to nullify his vows to the Cardinal and it takes one moon cycle due to him trying to find someone to help him until a new Cardinal does and then while he's gone for that month she does their morning routine, chores, cleaning, cooking, and then she finds out she is pregnant and is ecstatic. One day during the moon cycle they find out she's been taken to the wrong monastery so they take her to the right one and he's just finished nullifying his vows and searches for her with the help of Trax, a new friend of his and finds her and she tells him she is preggers and he is ready for anything and they ask him to prove his love for her and he does, asking her to be his bound and the father of their future children and she does the same. Now three years later they have 2 kids and another on the way and their relationship is still hot asf.

Solid 4.5/5

Pretty good👍🏻Different from what I have read📚

This was my first time read from this author. I read it thru KU and since it was .99 I bought it. I looked through a couple of her other books and saw they were for$3.99. If they are short like this one and only 1 s.e.x.y 🔥🔥🔥though a very steamy scene😜then I will not buy it but just read it thru KU.

This was a different SciFi then others I read. The h is basically raised as Amish but it is not called that and they are not on 🌏 She is Human though, lol. They have Priests and Nuns though they are somewhat different as we know, lol, They have tattoos, can have intercourse as long as they do not take a vow of chastity but they can set the time frame, ie. 4 years. They have different Gods. This is my 1st book like I mentioned so I am a little confused on the whole thing but I think I got the gist and will read some more 😀

The H is like a Priest and taken vows for 5 years to not speak/communicate and no sexual relations. He of course meets the h at 4 years, lol. The H is Not Human and is Red, Horned, has a tail and a forked tongue, fire and smoke can come out of him and has claws. In my head he resembles Tim Curry’s Character, Darkness, fromLegend.😈

I will read more w/ my KU Subscription because I did enjoy it and the one and only S.ex.Y scene towards the end of book, not counting the tiny Epilogue, was wowza hot🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 That right there was worth buying for .99 but would need more for $3.99😎 in my opinion.

I want to read more of the Author’s books to see if I can get a better understanding of this Universe the Author is writing about.❤️

Monastery

He took a vow of silent and celibacy fir 5yrs to get the monastery repaired and she is sent away because she was caught taking care if herself. Plus she just didn't fit in her family, she's a plus size lady. She was delivered to his monastery, she tried to tell them they brought the wrong trainee. So she makes the best of it and she understands his silence. For him it slams into him his attraction and that he has never felt this feeling. They're comfortable with each other and work very well together. While the pilgrims are there she finds out why he took his vows and that he's developed feeling for her. She gets to leave and gets caught in a rain storm. He finds a secret room and he found artifacts about the nun who started the monastery. It took a month to stop his vow and get the funding to restore the monastery to it's full glory. The guards return when they finally figured out she's at the wrong place. He comes home with his good news ,find out what happened to her and with some help goes after her. All is good.

What a treat !!!!

What an amazing read !!!!
Loreli has been raised in a cult \ commune with a strict religious view , especially of meek humble women who do as their told and hardly any communication or acknowledgements of anything having to do with sex. So ,when inquisitive , teenage Lorelei , after reading one of her many romance novels , is having some ," quite time " , and gets caught by her Mother ....... Well , she ends up being sent to a nunnery on another planet .
Cabal Firestone is the High Priest of a monastery off the beaten path of pilgrims . He has taken a vow of silence and celibacy , in order to bring attention to this particular monastery, researching its patron saint . This monastery is in extreme disrepair and badly in need of repair. If Cabal can hold out for 5 years , he will get the funds he needs in order to fix it .
Then along comes Lorelei !!!
Although this was not where she was supposed to end up, Cabal and Lorelei find themselves on the cusp of , well , love !!!! And this story was a treat to read !!!

Her Alien Priest by Michele Mills was a sheer and utter delight to read! It had me chuckling, swooning, and cheering for Lorelei and Cabal from start to finish.

I adored Lorelei! She's so endearing and charming and witty and snarky and I loved her finding herself, coming into her true self, finding her happiness.

And Cabal is so sweet in his stoic silence. Drawn to Lorelei, fascinated by her demeanor, enamored with her smiling personality, and I flipping loved him! I'm a sucker for strong and silent, and Cabal was a perfect representation of this! SWOON!

Their chemistry simmers and sizzles as it builds, her chatterbox ways and his silent devotion beautiful to witness as you get to watch their relationship unfold! There's some light drama and angst, and the tension builds and has you on tenterhooks for the outcome!

If you're looking for a quick read that'll absolutely satisfy your alien romance itch you need to scratch, look no further than Her Alien Priest!

Accepting consequences may be the best for you.

I loved this short story. It was entertaining and enjoyable with a couple of exceptions. The characters were interesting and likable for the most part. Although I did wish that Lorelei's sect would get a visit from someone high up in their organization that would tell them that they are doing it wrong. Cabal and Lorelei began to get to know each other even though he wasn't able to talk to her. She did enough talking for both of them! They worked well together and made a great team. Cabal and Lorelei were attracted to each other almost immediately but there were complications. There was a little bit of drama and angst but it resolved well. I loved their happily ever after. I recommend reading this book.

Listening to the audiobook is also very enjoyable. The narrators did a great job bringing the characters and the story to life. I recommend listening to the audiobook as well.

Awww, yes. A human woman from a strict, secular society and a Hyrrokin priest who's taken vows of silence and celibacy. Given that keeping his vows puts Cabal in a position to save the monastery, he REALLY can't break them. Even though Lorelei sweetness speaks to every one of Cabal's senses.

On Lorelei's end, she might have been pushed out of her home and forced to join a nunnery, but a case of mistaken identity has her ending up at Cabal's monastery and SHE LOVES IT. And him. Because big, silent, kind priests who look a little monstrous are Lorelei's THING.

An undignified entrance, a fire-breathing priest, a lot of longing looks, and a solid partnership despite Cabal's silence. *thumbs up*

Lorelei has been raised in a very strict religious environment with her dad being the priest for her community so expectations for her behavior is extra high. The problem? She loves reading smutty romance books. She hides them from her family, but when she’s caught pleasuring herself her family exiles her and sends her off to a nunnery.
But when she’s dropped off at the wrong monastery, she’s left alone with Cabal a Hyrrokin High Priest who is in his last year of his vow of silence and celibacy. From the first scent of her, Cabal knows he wont make it. She smells too good, too enticing, too his. The two form a very quick friendship and bond over their love of religion and the simple ways of living, but as passions rise Lorelei runs because she can’t be the one to tempt him from his vows and the work he’s doing.

I loved this novella. It was sweeter than I expected and I absolutely adored my time with these two. I can definitely see myself picking up more books by Michele Mills

Read if you want:
-alien/human dual pov
-taboo (priest)
-mates
-male mc has a prosthetic leg
-female mc is plus size
-touch of breeding kink
-barbed tail, horns, fangs, and red skin

I’m giving it 4⭐️ and 3🔥

Short, Simplistic Story

Starts out okay, if rushed. Continues with the rush. Very little description to the story. It's like a cliff notes version of a book. It took me about 2 hrs to read. The story is super simple, both in plot and characters (think Amish girl meets alien priest).

One thing that really bothered me is the lack of imagination and originality. She calls the women "nuns" for example. A nun is a celibate. It would have taken the author about 5 mins to think of a more appropriate, fitting name. Acolyte, priestess, something. This a theme. There's nothing original or well thought out.

Still I ended dup liking both characters and I finished the whole thing.

Cabal is a Hyrrokin High Priest in a remote monastery on the planet Salo spending his life under the vows of silence and celibacy. Then one day an error occurs when a human female called Lorelei who has been banished from her highly religious family is dropped off in error instead of the nunnery she was sent to. And suddenly Cabal is tempted by the mouthy and gorgeous human.

This was a nice little novella that is a spinoff of the Monsters Love Curvy Girls series. I enjoyed the description of the family scenario for Lorelei and the impact that she made on Cabal's life. A lovely ending that was an all-around HEA. Easy to read and understand. Contains sexual content.

Her Alien Priest

Cabal has has pledged to remain silent and celibate so that the important monastery he inhabits can be restored. He has been working at the monastery and keeping his vows with almost ease and has drawn closer to the gods for four years. Lorelei, a very outspoken woman for the times she lives in , has been banished to a harsh nunnery by her family for a crime they believe she had committed. She is mistakenly taken to the isolated monastery that Canal is trying to save.
A fraught but engaging tale of unrequited love, silence, joy, humour, learning, morals and honesty. I really enjoyed this story, sexy, short, full and sweet.
