End of the Line

Rate this book
Sam is a military vet with bad knees who's just about reached the end of the line as far as wandering is concerned. Thank goodness he meets Chance, an all around good old boy who needs someone to do the heavy lifting at his local feed store.

They hit it off from the start, and as Sam rents a room from Chance he gets to know him. And want him. Their relationship grows over a lot of fishing and hard work, and finding out about the vagaries of old, creaky knees and what it's like to have diabetes. And when these two get going? They find out they're not too old for all that sexy stuff after all. In fact, they're just old enough to realize that the end of the line can lead a man to the best place of all. Home.

Often referred to as "Space Cowboy" and "Gangsta of Love" while still striving for the moniker of "Maurice," Sean Michael spends his days surfing, smutting, organizing his immense gourd collection and fantasizing about one day retiring on a small secluded island peopled entirely by horseshoe crabs. While collecting vast amounts of vintage gay pulp novels and mood rings, Sean whiles away the hours between dropping the f-bomb and persuing the kama sutra by channeling the long lost spirit of John Wayne and singing along with the soundtrack to "Chicago."

A long-time writer of complicated haiku, currently Sean is attempting to learn the advanced arts of plate spinning and soap carving sex toys.

Barring any of that? He'll stick with writing his stories, thanks, and rubbing pretty bodies together to see if they spark.

This was just lovely! Sweet and slow and sexy and perfect for a light comfort read.

I loved that there wasn't really any angst. Chance and Sam just FIT and they communicated fantastically well, and it was all just so easy and so beautiful.

Not to say that there weren't still issues: Sam is trust-shy vet who's never really been in a relationship before and Chance is diabetic, but they work through all of the potential issues smoothly and easily because they TALK about things.

Lovely, relaxing story.

I loved this book, especially the first half.

It was great seeing slightly older characters and with a history of problems and injures, sometimes down on their luck - but at the end finding hope and happiness.

I only wished there'd be a little less sex and a little more of a story in the second half, I'd like an epilogue of sorts, just to see how the guys are faring together.

Still a very good story!

Reread this with new edition and have moved it up to a solid 4. 10/15/15

Actually more like 3.5

No matter the sexual orientation of the characters I really enjoying reading a story where the characters are a bit older. Sam has been out of the military for a couple of years and has never really had a relationship before. Chance is a small town guy who has been heading out of town for hook ups. When Chance gives Sam a job and a place to stay the dance begins. Each guy is interested in what he sees but both have been used to keeping things close to the chest for fear of retribution. It is fun to see the friendship develop and the guys get braver as the story progresses. The story seems to develop at a good pace that makes the story both fun and believable.

On okay m/m about a wandering soldier who settles in small-town Texas and ends up bunking with his new boss who has diabetes. Nothing much dramatic happening, and there is no expose about what will happen in their town when it becomes clear that they are more than just roommates. I did find that calling him Mr. Sam in bed a bit weird. I know it's a Southern thing, but not in bed. LOL

This was a lot different to Seans usual books.....We had a really slow build up to Chance and Sams story.....getting to the sex part after half way through....I loved it...They were perfect together....I've not read many where the main characters are older......A really great sexy read x

Typical Sean Michael and that's not meant in a bad way.
