Another great read by Babygirl Daniels! Short story with a great message. "The best form of protected sex is no sex at all." Ain't that the truth, but everyone deserves a happy ending and Asia definitely got hers. High school and teenagers can be brutal, but she survived and learned a valuable lesson. This was a good coming of age story (all of her Daniel's books are to be honest!) for girls and women everywhere.

Relatable and a YA MUST read!

This was such a touching quick story! WOW. I went to a high school that had a daycare inside of it for all the teen moms. Although most teen moms don’t get blessed like Asia did I think this is a good cautionary tale to share with young people and to use as a teachable moment. Excellent narration and story!

The reason for this book was?!??

Also…abortion is healthcare not murder…and referring to a black girls nose as a monkey is so classless

I think the book was good it shows you that you can't trust everyone as your friend and also that thing aren't always as it seems. Asia thought that life would be easy because she was always spoiled/spoon fed. Life got hard for her when she moved in with her Aunt Joy she got pregnant by her boyfriend and he soon left once he found out. She didn't have anyone to talk about what was going on because she put lust over her forever friendship.

This book was a very big dissapointment. For the majority of the book I found myself wanting to scan and skip pages. I would never recomend this book to anyone. The only people who "may" like it are people that may be able to relate to it.

Things like this happen in real life and that's why it's important to state why you shouldn't do something rather than say you shouldn't and leave it at that because fear doesn't always drive someone to stay away.

A good listen of the story of Asia. It took a while to link it to the other books in the series, but overall good nuggets of friendships and relationships.

This is a great book to bring into a high school classroom. This is a young girl just entering into her freshmen year that is having a great experience when her and her best friend fall in love with the same guy. She is willing to lose her friendship over the guy that gets her pregnant. The father does not stick around, leaving her second guessing her choice of actions. Her dad, who gave her the world was killed in an accident and she is forced to go live with her aunt who is not able to give her everything she is used to having. Her world trastically changes and now she is left with a baby to raise on her own. Is it to late to save her education? Her friendship with Asia? I would teach this book to my class but would expect resistance from administration due to the light sexual acts and language. If I was able to get it approved I'd definately teach it to show students how quickly your life can change by making one mistake. It would be a great oppurtunity to touch base on safe sex and responsibility of parenthood as well!

I really liked this book. I finished it in like 5 hours. It was well written and makes me want to read other books by this author. I would recommend this books for other teen girls like me because you really don't want to go through what Asia did...just read the book, that's all I have to say.

Glitter was a fictional story that took place in Detroit, Michigan. It was about a young girl by the name of Asia who was the IT girl all over the city. Yes, this is Asia from the 16 and a half story and the Sister Sister story. Asia’s father got shot by Mike…months later he ended getting shot again this time killing him. Asia had no family besides her aunt since her mother had died while giving birth to her. So she had to live with her aunt Joy. Aunt Joy was a nurse and was very strict on Asia because she didn’t want her to turn out like her daughter who was pregnant and on drugs.
It was Asia’s junior year and she was walking the halls of Cass High School with her bff Tracey. On the first day, Asia encountered a handsome athlete by the name of Pierce. Asia had a crush on him the moment they laid eyes on one another. Asia told her bff that her and Pierce talked…and Tracey admitted that she had a crush on him. So Asia ended up trying to be a good friend and not tell her bff that she likes him too. But it was too late, Pierce made it clear he liked Asia.
Leaving Tracey hurt and upset, Asia and Pierce hung out every day all day. What Asia didn’t know was that he was a player and only wanted to get one thing out of her and leave. And that’s exactly what he did. He took a picture of Asia once they were done doing whatever they did and sent it to the whole school leaving her to be embarrassed. She had no friends after that. She confronted him about the picture but he tried to play it cool while he was already with a new girl! Asia and he got into a little altercation leaving her to get suspended.
While on suspension, Asia discovers she’s pregnant and doesn’t know what to do. Doing like any other teenager would do, she turned to her Guidance counselor, Ms. Coleman. Ms. Coleman suggested she tell her Aunt…and when she did she got kicked out. Ms. Coleman invited Asia to live with her while she was pregnant. Once she had her baby boy, which she named Damien Coleman. Ms. Coleman adopted Asia and baby Damien. This story was very good and covers things that would happen in high school. So I feel as if this was a good life lesson story. You could learn a lot from it.
