Mary Ayodele When Will Cicades Sing The story provides information about cicadas. It tells us where they live and the time of year they come out. They tell us why these insects come out. They describe what they look like. This was a very informative story. I enjoyed reading this story. I like the illustration; it showed what a cicada looks like and where you mostly see them. I enjoyed seeing the illustration of the cicada on the tree, just lying there. It seemed real. The deeper meaning behind this story is to give us an idea of the various bugs around us and why they emerge. There’s a reason for everything shown in nature. It correlates with us having enough oxygen to breathe or to keep the soil nourished. I would use this in my class for a science lesson or a nature lesson. I would show the students a video of cicadas and ask them how they feel about this insect. Then do a writing lesson about why cicadas come out. This story made me feel informed.
