Jerry wants to be a comic when he grows up, George never misses a nap, Elaine has funky dance moves, and Kramer is . . . unusual. Today these pals “gotta see the baby,” but they need to find the perfect gift first. Would the baby like an astronaut pen? A chocolate babka? A tiny puffy shirt?

Join the friends as they visit Joe’s Fruit Store, the soup place, the bakery—and more! But yada, yada, yada . . . things don’t go quite as planned. That doesn’t stop the kids from turning what could have been a boring day into one that’s filled with a lot of laughs.

Why I chose to read this book:
1. when my GR friend, Darla, reviewed this book (https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...), I immediately put a hold on it through my local library; and,
2. I'm a HUGE Seinfeld fan!

Praises:
1. like the show itself, author Micol Ostow begins the book with Jerry (as a child, mind you) doing his stand-up comic routine;
2. I was delighted by the references to this iconic sitcom within the text and illustrations;
3. I could just "hear" Jerry, George, Elaine, and Kramer's idiosyncrasies and nuances within the dialogue. They're off to buy a gift for the baby, because they "got to see the baby"!
4. I loved the background appearances of familiar characters such as J. Peterman, Frank and Estelle Costanza, Jerry's Uncle Leo, and even Kramer's lawyer, Jackie Chiles; and,
5. I was tickled to find various little nuggets from the show within the illustrations such as an umbrella twirler, a bag of cement by a laundromat, George's puffy winter coat, even the two guys stealing an armoire!

Overall Thoughts:
Even though it is a picture book, I don't think young children would appreciate the obvious and hidden humor within this book.
I do think that it would make a fun gift for the diehard Seinfeld fan(s) in your life!

We found out about this book after our daughter picked up a copy for work, and since we're huge Seinfeld fans, we had to grab a copy for our collection.

This book about nothing sure is packed with a lot. 😅

I had heaps of fun reading it. Not only is it funny, but the drawings are super cute. And there are Easter eggs everywhere. Not just in the dialogue and story itself, but in the background.

It really is a very cool book and I loved it!

I don’t think kids will enjoy this, but adult Seinfeld fans will love it! I lost count of how many Easter eggs there were, but my two favorites were the mannequin that looked like little Elaine and the stationary shop that had a notice that glue was being recalled.

Read it to Amy and Hedlun last night😉 they could do the voices better and still need to do the find and search, but certainly enjoyable. Pictures are great and think a perfect gift for Amy’s bday! And count it! Amy now only three more books to go🙂😆

Got this adorable book for Christmas. I have the Office picture book and found this one to be similar. Definitely more for fans of the show instead of kids, but I loved catching all the Seinfeld references and looking for the items “hidden” in the images.

This is incredible! I saw this in my local B&N, and had to stand there to read the whole thing. It's full of jokes from the show and the story surprisingly works. Oh, and the illustrations are so well done. Yeah, it's marketed for younger kids, but even adult Seinfeld fans like myself will get a good chuckle out of it. Easiest 5-stars I've ever given!

For fans of Seinfeld to share with their kids! A humorous story of Elaine, Kramer, George and Jerry who "gotta see the baby". What they each come up with for baby gifts will give readers some laughs!

This is such a good mix of a children's book and references for the adults. I only wish it were longer to include more great references. They all fit so well into the story and it worked so well.

A show about nothing is repackaged as a children’s book about nothing. The irony is it’s better than a lot of the somethings that make up children’s literature - at least for those of us with a fully developed frontal lobe.

Moral: Doing nothing is exhausting!

Length: It takes a while to get the inside jokes into the story, so it’s long enough that we took a break three times. It’s wordy, like the TV characters.

Favorite Line: “Did you ever notice how parents always want you to be doing something?”

Overall impression: This is no Goodnight Moon, meaning it’s not really written for The Child. It’s a way for parents of a certain age to financially support their favorite tv show creators, to giggle at their own nostalgia, and to share their childhood with a baby. This is tv syndication for cord cutters. I really enjoyed it. Mavis didn’t very much care. In fact, she started crying three times. The first time, she was hungry. The second, it was a dirty diaper. The third? I think she was just ready to be done with the book. So Seinfeld is just as polarizing in print as on the boob tube.

Story was perfect with lots of topics and references to things from the show. There are various items from the show "hidden " throughout the book. I found them all except for the lobster. Where is the lobster??
I found the lobster 🦞-- it's on Kramer's shirt!
I liked how it began and ended with young Jerry doing stand up.
It had some of the loved foods like chocolate babka, black and white cookies, Chinese food, the diner, and cereal. Also had some lines like "these pretzels are making me thirsty!"
Some "easter eggs" were in the illustrations like the puffy shirt and the beltless trench coats.

I gave it 4 stars because I didn't think the illustrations were very good. At times it was hard to differentiate between Jerry, Kramer and Newman. There should have been more details in the faces. The faces all looked too similar. She did do Uncle Leo, Jerry's parents, George's parents, the black lawyer, Puddy, and Mr. Peterman well.

Got a favorite Seinfeld character? Favorite episode? This book will be a welcome walk down memory lane while testing your observation skills. The cover alone includes: a Monk's menu, a big salad, a ketchup bottle (empty?), Uncle Leo, George's parents, and a J. Peterman catalog. Read through the book to find a multitude of images and references to your favorite episodes. The kids who will grow up to be Jerry, Elaine, George, and Kramer take us on a shopping trip to get a gift for the baby. You have to see the baby! Includes some specific items to search and find. There are many more. Enjoy!

This is a very clever story with the Seinfeld characters as children living in NYC. All kinds of references and images are taken from the show. Readers must look for both visual and textual clues related to the show about nothing. Highly recommend for any Seinfeld fan of any age!

Super adorable. Not only are the illustrations just darling, but there are tons of easter eggs and references for those Seinfeld die-hards.

Also, special shout-out to Christina for putting this on their TBR and having it pop up in my feed 🫶🏼

in this book, Jerry's parents urge Jerry and his friends to do something. Jerry and his friends would much rather do nothing. I have never seen clips or episodes of Seinfeld, so this book didn't quite do it for me.

Imagine every trope used in the show distilled into one book. Seinfeld reimagined as kids. Probably best for true fans of the show but while the parents will get a kick out of it the kids might find this one rather lame.
