A nice start with an explanation of Groundhog Day and an examination of how shadow length changes over the course of the day, but with no real ending on hand they pull the let's-have-a-party cop-out.

In the book Pooh's groundhog doesn't see his shadow, so they get an early spring. But IRL, Punxsutawney Phil declares six more weeks of winter today.

(My Pooh Project: I love Winnie the Pooh, and so does my wife. Having a daughter gave us a chance to indoctrinate her into the cult by buying and reading her every Pooh book we came across. How many is that? I’m going to count them this year by reading and reviewing one every day and seeing which month I finally run out. Track my progress here:

Apparently, I loved it two years ago with my preschooler. Now, with a preschooler and first grader, I find it lacking. More about shadow science.
