Although I started looking at Dore trying to find some of the 200 or so sketches he did of his then-lover and my ancestor Cora Pearl, I have grown to love his work and eagerly await the library's 'misplaced' copy of 'London'. In this book,subdivided into chapters detailing his life and works (satire,adventure,horror, awe,realism and compassion)with a list of books illustrated by him, also contains excerpts of praise from Van Gogh.
A passionate account of his life. Enjoyable in that sense… perhaps a little overzealous, but I think that’s down to taste. If you only care about the pictures inside, you numbskulls, then it shall suffice. I am so pretentious it’s draining me
