We are finally back with another Fear Street Seinors book. The last three books in this series were quite literally bad.So bad they threw me off for a year of reading them.Sweetheart,Evilheart is a Valentine themed book, and There is a book in the Fear Street super Chillers series called broken hearts, which I loved. So I was slightly excited about this one.The story follows Ty Sullivan,he is dating Phoebe.Phoebe is the same girl from the last book in this series but none of those events are mentioned. The only thing that is mentioned is the Seinors curse.Ty wants to date more then one girl at a time like Tricia the rich pretty girl and Marla, who I can't tell you anything about.Ty ends up sneaking Marla over and he lures her up to the attic to "study".He even tells Marla he's planning on dumping Phoebe. They end up finding this old Valentine from along time ago written from a girl named Amy.Ty wants Amy to,so in the letter it asks ty to place a responding letter to a tree in the Fear Street cemetery. He does this and gets a response, but so does Tricia,Marla and Phoebe. The letters threaten Ty and the girls ,telling them to stay away from him.One night Ty is out on a date with Tricia ,when Gary Fresno,Tricia's current boyfriend finds out and threatens Ty.The next day goes by and he's with one of his girlfriend's and he finds his tires slashed with a dead rabbit in the backseat.Ty thinks this is actually a ghost of Amy or either Gary trying to get revenge on him. This story was admittedly better then the past three books in my opinion, but still not super amazing.I guessed pretty much who was doing this, but only kinda. The ending was really good, but it left the reader not knowing exactly the truth only part of it.As far as negatives I'd say the pacing was off,and not enough happens.I give Sweetheart, Evilheart a three out of five stars.
Valentine's Day in Shadyside...it never fails to entertain.
It has been well established in the books so far that Ty Sullivan has a thing for the ladies.
Sometimes it doesn't seem like a good thing to be attracted to Ty. I know what it is like to be all starry-eyed over a guy I know is no good for me...girls in Shadyside not so much.
Ty went out with Greta Bradley..she's dead.
Ty went out with Jennifer Fear and that didn't end well.
Ty was also going out with Trisha Conrad when he was with Jennifer. Trisha is going out with Gary Fresno, tough guy from the poor side of town. He dumped Mary O'Connor to go out with Trisha.
Ty is right now the "boyfriend" of Phoebe Yamura but he is still seeing Trisha behind her back.
Ty is also seeing Marla Newman...it's like freaking Passions!!
I say Passions because it is the soap opera that always had the freaky stuff going on and I am also old so forgive me.
Ty thinks he's hot stuff going out with three girls at the same time: the brunette cheerleader, the smart redhead and the rich blonde. Surprise surprise...he thinks he can handle four when he starts receiving old-fashioned Valentine's cards from a girl named Amy.
Amy is not a normal admirer.
She says that she and Ty live 100 years apart - Amy is a ghost.
Ty finds that kind of hot and starts writing Amy back and leaving the replies in an old tree near the Fear family tombs in Shadyside Cemetery on Fear Street.
Amy's replies are passionate and she believes they are soulmates but Amy warns Ty that she can be very jealous.
Not only does Ty have to keep the three live girls he is juggling from being jealous and finding out about each other...Ty has to worry about not making a dead one angry.
Oh and keeping Gary Fresno from wanting to pound his face in when he finds out Trisha has been going with Ty behind his back. Oh and deciding which girl he is going to the Valentine dance with...so hard to keep being a tool.
You get what you give because soon there are attacks on the girls and on Ty's car as the Valentine messages from Amy turn from sweet to sour...from passion to rage.
Roses are red Blood is too Someone will end up dead on this Valentine's Day...but who?
The reveals keep coming and I knew what was going to come for one of them because well...everyone is going to die sooner or later right?
This was like Double Date with a little more bite and blood.
I say reveals because they weren't really twists...until the ending. That was actually a good one.
Sad to say but I do not have Spring Break to read nor do I have Prom Date :( I will be taking a break from the Fear Street Seniors until about May or June when I will read Wicked and Graduation Day back to back.
I'm disappointed that I won't get to view the actual stories of the two books I do not have but the Shadyside High Yearbook will fill me in on what I need to know.
Until that time I'll probably re-read some Fear Street books I have and check out some I haven't had a chance to read.
This series is getting good though...and I still highly recommend you read Fear Street Seniors if you can get your hands on them.

This book is the only one in the series with a perfect 4 stars only being a .1 over the final book in this series so I really wanted to read it. It’s a great thriller horror though as I got treated to lots of creepy v day cards, teen drama and two twists for the price of one. Definitely a great book in the series and one that should be checked out, especially for February ❤️🔪🩸
I was actually enjoying this one, at least more than the last few entires - up until a certain reveal at the end that was just dumb. The first big reveal with the three girls pulling the prank on Ty was to be expected, I didn't mind that. But what followed, with Ty's death, was a great moment, and should've opened the door for the real Amy Fear to come into the plot - but instead Stine ruins it with a left field twist of a random ass side character (Justin) to use as the scapegoat / Ty's killer. His admission of his crime was just as random and felt so cheap and forced. Ugh. This book had potential to be better. As it is, it gets a 2.5⭐ rounded down.

Ty Sullivan is a bit of a womanizer. He's dating 3 Shadyside Senior girls at once, Phoebe, Trisha, and Marla. When he finds a letter in the attic, Ty thinks a ghost is obsessed with him. Then the girls are getting threats and things are looking serious. But Ty is only worried about which girl he'll take to the Valentine's Dance. The entire plot of this was goofy, the fact that Ty is excited a dead girl is in love with him was ridiculous. The ending was neat as two more seniors bite the dust and it looks like Trisha's prophecy is coming true. Gary was scary this one. Mainly just a lame entry; the big reveal was neat...but the final twist in the graveyard was stupid. This one just wasn't as good as the rest.
This was a seriously terrific novel. Ty was such a player and I was glad that karma and the girls got to him but what I thought was going to happen didnt and the story took a major turn! It was really amazing!!
So far this has been the best of the Seniors book series. We finally get to know more about Ty, the guy who has been dating multiple girls, Phoebe from the last book as well as Trisha and also Marla. He is in his mind such a ladies man that he can easily juggle all three with no problem. When he’s with any one of them they are the most important to him but also out of mind out of sight. Ty is so cool 🙄. Then when he’s with Marla in his attic he finds an old yellowed Valentine from Amy, who just from a couple lines instantly decides is hot and must respond back to. So he does by leaving a note in the cemetery. So now he’s juggling four girls, three from the present and one from the past. Ohhhh ghost story lol. Soon the three are getting threatening notes from Amy and everyone is freaked out. While I won’t spoil it the ending was not what I expected. The whole Ty storyline wrapped up very satisfying. But the last twist I felt was lame and kinda unneeded although it brought another death which with this series is greatly needed. I hope the series continues this trajectory and continues with great books. And please the next book is a super chiller so give me super chiller deaths!!
-Stine has already covered the "that dead (or psycho, or both) girl is really into me!" trope elsewhere in the series; this one does some aspects better, some worse.
-The plot doesn't wind up making a whole lot of sense--needless to say--but it moves along at a good clip, with plenty of twists and turns to keep the plot from getting stale.
-Ty Sullivan is kind of a piece of crap, which makes him more interesting than many of the other boring protagonists, and watching him juggle the three girls he's dating simultaneously is fun and tense; I wish the book had pushed that aspect a bit more.
-Stine was in his fifties as the time he was writing these books, but there's an authenticity to the way he writes teenagers (at least in this series) that puts many other (younger) YA writers to shame.
-Class psychic Trisha Conrad is emerging as the key character in all these Fear Street shenanigans, which makes sense.
-If every book I read from now on had a subplot about a character receiving creepy antique valentines from a dead person, I wouldn't be mad about it.
Ty Sullivan is dating Phoebe Yamura, but behind her back he is also seeing Marla Newman and Trisha Conrad. And even that is not enough for him! He receives letters from an admirer called Amy, and decides to respond. He's intrigued, especially because it seems like she lived 100 years ago. Unfortunately, she has a bit of a temper, which she warns him about, and she isn't too happy that he's dating so many other girls.
This was completely stupid and totally predictable, but it offers up those sweet, nostalgic Fear Street vibes. Fast-paced, never boring and fun to read. I spotted every single thing that was going to happen, but it didn't lessen my enjoyment. It's ridiculous that Ty would believe he's conversing with a dead girl, but if you go with it, there's mindless enjoyment to be had. I had planned to read more spooky books for October, but got saddled with one that didn't interest me, and instead of just moving on, wasted time. I need to cut my losses and go with quick, fun ones like this for my Halloween reading.
Snippet: Another enjoyable Seniors book! It was good to get to know Ty a bit more, but it’s clear he couldn’t be redeemed. The two twists were easily guessable, but still I had a good time reading it, and was looking forward to seeing how it would all play out. I did think it was a bit weird that Ty would almost immediately believe he was chatting up a dead girl, but I guess stranger things have happened in Shadyside...
Check out my full review linked up top for an in-depth recap :)
After reading Valentine by Tom Savage (good stuff, mikes better than the movie), I wondered if RL Stine had any v-day stories. For some reason. Lo and behold! This came out way past my Fear Street days, so I’d never heard of the Seniors series. Hilarious, seeing the yearbook with actual photos. And the story was dumb fun. I was actually surprised with how the story developed. Real stakes, real supernatural goings-on, real blood? This stuff makes me want to read the rest of the series and see if the Senior class curse is real. Spooky, lol!
I love how these books are awful. The books are not realistic at all and even for a series in which ghosts and visions exist, it's not even a bit believable. At least these books are never predictable. Just when you think you know what's going to happen, R.L. Stine takes you by surprise. The books are charming all the same (:
