Maya was such a kick ass heroine. This starts out with Maya being attacked and turned into a vampire. Even in her last moments of being a human she was a fighter. I love reading about females who kick butt and take names. Vampires aren't known to be good, but Maya still has her cop instincts to protect the weak. She's street smart and has made a name for herself in the paranormal world.

Adam was a bit of a mystery in the first half of the book. You know he isn't human but you don't know what exactly he is. It's hinted that he is very powerful. He only needed Maya because he knew the master to her sire was the one who kidnapped his niece. With her having that link to him, he could use her to track him.

Maya ends up being like no other Vampire Adam has ever been around. He hates vamps but she smells different and she actually protects humans. The longer he's around her the more he wants her.

I loved everything about this! Great heroine, great hero, plenty of heat between the two AND a great story line! This also had some really great side characters. I'm hoping there will be books on them as well. There really wasn't anything I didn't like about this book.

Blood, sex and fire.

Maya Black was an LAPD cop, in a city that was made aware of the supernatural. One fateful night, after a hard-fought battle against a vamp, she was bitten and died and her life as a vamp began. She was an amazing heroine and she still retained most of her humane characteristics. She was feared by vamps and wolves and demons alike and was something of a mercenary. She really kicked some ass!

For about half of the book, Adam Brody was a mystery. I knew he wasn't human, but just what he was I couldn't figure out (and I'm not sharing the surprise either). His niece was kidnapped and he really needed Maya's help to find her. He was willing to pay any price and his blood was hers for the taking. I thought it was funny every time Maya took the time to try to 'protect' him. I just knew he would be a being even stronger than she was but it made for some amusing times.

What struck me as touching was the fact that although Adam hated all vampires, he couldn't hate Maya. He quickly realized that she was unlike any other vampire he'd ever encountered. For someone who was undead, she had a heart. And the way he was unwillingly drawn to her couldn't be denied. Somehow these two were a match made in heaven... sorta.

I absolutely loved this story! I loved the world the author created, the action and the suspense, and the hints at a story not quite finished. The heroine was as amazing as the hero and there were even some incredible side characters that I'm hoping get their own stories. I wanted more from the ending but I'm crossing my fingers that I'll see these two again.

When his niece is kidnapped by a vicious group of vampires Adam Brody seeks out Maya Black’s help to find her. Even though Maya is a vampire herself she has a fierce reputation of taking out the bad guys, vamps, demons, whatever kind of creature.

Maya was a police officer when she was forcibly turned into a vampire, and she hates her kind because most of them are murdering fiends with no conscious. She thinks Adam’s mission will probably get him killed, thinking he’s just a human, and she doesn’t want to be part of that. However, Adam’s willing to pay and he’d probably go off on his own anyhow so Maya’s stuck.

Adam and Maya are very distrustful of each other as they join forces, but there’s a spark of attraction brewing between them from the beginning. Adam can’t stand vampires, but he can tell Maya is different, and despite her prickly demeanor she truly cares about people. Adam he can’t help but admire her strength and skills taking on baddies twice her size and kicking ass! Maya assumes Adam is a helpless human and he lets her think that, but Adam is much more. I won’t spoil things by telling you what he is, but I thought it was pretty cool!

In between all the action and danger Adam and Maya battle with their desires. At first, it’s animal attraction, irresistible and desperate, but they start to fall for each other a little more with each passing day. Cynthia Eden writes some truly hot stuff and whether it be her romantic suspense or paranormal stories, she has her romances dialed to sizzle! Adam and Maya were no exception!

Immortal Danger was fast paced, full of action and a lot of fun. It looks like this story was originally published back in 2009, as the start of the Night Watch series, but may have been updated. Maya and Adam’s story wraps up, but the series continues centering on other characters. I plan on getting to the next book soon.

Maya is a fighter. She once was a cop. Now she’s a vampire and she’s got quite a reputation. When Adam seeks her out to help him find his niece, it’s the last thing he wants to do. He despises vamps but he’s willing to do and pay whatever he has to for Maya’s assistance. However, the price doesn’t seem as steep the more he gets to know her, and smell her, and taste her much less allow her to taste him.

Shifting the Balance of Power: Why More Women are Riding Motorcycles and How That's Driving Change - Gimme Info

I loved the suspense and high thrills that run through this story. There was never a dull moment. These characters were both extremely intriguing. I learned to not take Maya at her surface appearance and was so curious about Adam. What exactly is he? Even Maya is unsure.

This is a fast paced read with some incredible secondary characters that I just want more of. The heat level is high but doesn’t overwhelm the story. Both Maya and Adam are well developed and the best part of this book was slowly seeing the real them.

Definitely a book I would recommend to anyone who likes paranormal romance with plenty of suspense and thrills to go with it.

Re-read when the author republished.

Heroine: 4 stars.
Hero: 2 stars.
Overall rating: No clue.

“Sometimes, a gal just can’t have too many men.”

If I were to rate this based on the heroine then I would rate it 4 stars but I’m torn on how I should rate it.

I liked the heroine very much. She’s a kick ass woman.
I struggled with the hero. I also didn’t feel any chemistry between them.
It’s a first from this author. And It also took me 2 days to finish it that’s when I noticed that I wouldn’t enjoy it as much as some of her books.

heroine’s nickname for the hero got old really fast.
No OW drama.

When I see a 0.5 as a prequel, I automatically think it's a novella, but this one isn't. It's a full-length novel and it ties in really well with Cynthia Eden's most recent Night Watch book Never Cry Wolf.

We have the heroine, Maya, who used to be a cop, but it turned into a vampire, sort of accidentally (a vamp ripped her throat open, she shot him, his blood dripped into her blood, yaddah yaddah yaddah-accidental vampire-you know how it is). A few years later the real story begins.

Adam finds Maya in the middle of taking out a level 10 demon (the most powerful of all Others). He's been watching Maya for a while, actually. He needs her help.

Maya doesn't help. She looks out for numero uno and she takes out the bad guys-the cop in her didn't die when her mortal body did.

Adam wants Maya to help her find his niece. She was taken by vampires who are helping the Master vampire to rise. Maya can feel this master's call in the back of her head, just as any other vampire, but she's really good at ignoring it.

But Adam intrigues her. At first she thinks he's human, but he has no scent. Like, at all. It drives her nuts trying to keep him safe, but he seems so fearless. And he keeps putting himself in danger as if it's no big deal.

But their attraction grows, against both their better judgements, Adam's kind hate vampires, and Maya still has no idea what he is.

Meanwhile, Maya is betrayed by someone she used to trust, the local werewolf pack is after her, and let me tell you, they're kind of bad ass.

But Adam is more than any of them guessed.

And so is Maya.

This was an excellent paranormal romance, no doubt. Anyone who wants a Romantic Suspense but with Paranormal aspects should love this book, and this series.

This is a book that has previously been released I believe so obviously check you haven’t already read it. Unfortunately it’s my first time reading this so have no idea if it’s been extended or added to in any way .
This author has an uncanny knack for producing paranormal romance stories that grip her readers. I wasn’t sure initially how I’d feel about a kick ass, vampire heroine but Maya actually won me over. I guess I tend to prefer strong male leads and luckily the author had ideas that made Adam both protective , fierce and a worthy hero. Perhaps the respect was what made these characters spring to life in my mind although obviously the trust had to build. This was a fast paced and did I say a hot, hot story that had me eagerly turning the pages. If you are seeking a book that encompasses vampires, shifters or demons then you really cannot go wrong with this author.
This voluntary take is of a copy I requested from Netgalley and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair

Wow, for a Prequel, this book sure carried a lot of punch! It had some intense moments and lots of sex filled ones too!

A Vampire (Maya) and a Shifter (Adam, mostly Slick to her) working together to find a 9 year old girl (Cammie) who had been abducted by evil.

Yeah, over the course of the book, they typically, but sweetly, fell for each other. No insta love here at all! They didn't think much of each other for awhile. Their sarcastic banter was enjoyable. Chemistry won out though, as did time on their dangerous & adventure filled journey.

And of course, all ended well ('cept for the vicious vamps of course).

Cynthia Eden did it again. Great writer.

Fun, fun, off to read the next one!

Very good! Vamps, werewolves and dragons! Maya Black was a kick-ass cop and then turned into a kick-ass vamp, but she still protects her city! I liked her relationship with Adam.

Cynthia Eden is an author than I can usually count on to deliver a really enjoyable PNR read and Immortal Danger didn't disappoint. Maya was a young cop who was changed one night against her will and has become a killer to those of her kind who do harm to innocent humans. Adam's niece is stolen and he needs Maya to track the kidnappers and makes a deal with her to locate his niece. I'm not going to say what Adam is and ruin the surprise but I loved it. Together Adam and Maya were awesome, their chemistry was explosive and the action nonstop. This is definitely a series I need to continue. Please be aware that this is not a new series it's a rerelease.

Maya Black is not thrilled with being a vampire, but she’ll make the most of it by hunting demons, werewolves and other assorted nocturnal scum in order to keep the city safe. He hopes that Maya is as dangerous as they say she is because Adam Brody needs her help and he’s willing to pay in blood.

This dangerously thrilling and adventurous read keeps readers glued to the pages and hanging on to the edge of their seats with lots of exciting action and intriguing suspense. The fast paced and smooth flowing plot never has a dull moment as Maya and Adam pursue the really bad vampires that kidnapped Adam’s niece and they come across werewolves that out for blood and chameleons determined to guard the vampires’ lair.

This exciting read has it all, explosive battles, an adventurous journey, mean and bad demons, red hot passion, sizzling chemistry and two very strong and charismatic characters that really charm and delight readers with their story. The relationship between Maya and Adam is quite volatile with lots of attitude and electrical sparks that fly from the pages as they try to work out their differences, despite the secrets and tangled emotions that they each have.

A well developed and fascinating world with a variety of bold supernatural characters that has lots of attitude that readers can practically feel leaping from the pages, especially since the author painted such vivid images that readers can easily imagine each and every scene as they become caught up story that has an overall enthusiastic feel that readers can appreciate.

This was 3.5 stars read for me. Though I truly enjoy Cynthia Eden's writing there were a few things that I didn't enjoy about this book and that was mainly Maya. Sure, she was a badass chick. It was interesting watching Adam (an Alpha Male) try to take the back seat in all of the action. It was Maya's sort of know it all attitude that put me off. What the hell was up with her calling him "Slick" every time she wanted to address him except when they were having sex (and then she called or shall I say moaned "Adam"). I loved the action and the fighting but I would have loved a little more connection between Maya and Adam. I thought they were connecting on a sexual level. Overall a good book, though I enjoy her other series more.

Even though I had already read bks. 1-3 in the Night Watch series..I came back to read Immortal Danger because the main character in the 4th book is featured in this book and ONLY this book...he was never mentioned in any of the others, not even once! For some reason this book is listed as .5, and should therefore be considered the first book in this series but it is not at all related to the other 3 books...i know, weird!! It did have a good mix of action, suspense and romance, although i think i enjoyed the other books in this series a little bit better. Regardless of whether i liked this one as much as the others or not, i would highly recommend any and all of Cynthia Eden's books to anyone who loves a good paranormal romance! :)

An earlier book by C.E. Maya is the most kick butt heroine I've read by this author. She's an L.A. Cop who is turned by a vampire. Five years later she's still going after bad guys but now they're the paranormal sort.

Enter Adam. He's looking for Maya to help him find his kidnapped niece and keeping some pretty big secrets of his own.

The love scenes are smoking and the plot flows nicely, it took me just a little bit to warm up to Maya but I did wind up liking her.

The ending is abrupt and I would have liked a chapter or two more and I it also would have been nice for Cammie to have a bit more page time but those are minor observations. I wonder if the author ever considered a sequel with Cammie and Jordan. I would love to see a story about them.

Definitely recommended.

Immortal Danger is an entertaining paranormal romance and a very good introduction to the Night Watch series. I enjoyed that we don't find out exactly what Adam is off. The story is fully under way when we find out what his abilities are. I especially enjoyed the fact that although Adam has a strong personality, he is also confident enough to step back and have Maya in the lead in much of the action. I will continue this series over time. If you are looking for a well written paranormal romance series with lots of steaminess, I do recommend picking this one up.

Updated edition.
I love how Adam is so badass, he knows he can take on anything, yet he is also A-OK with Maya taking the lead on everything. He has so much confidence in her skills and it's so sexy to see a guy totally cool with being backup.
I think I gave this a 4 star rating back in the day, but either i've changed, or my tastes have changed, or the light updating was really well-done. Whatever it was, I loved this.

Immortal Danger was a full-length opener to its series and full of the paranormal romance that Eden originally introduced me to. With a badass heroine that patrols her own kind and a man desperate for her help, the two pairing up created this explosive partnership both on and off the field. The pairing of paranormal with suspense led to a fast-paced and sexy story of two ill-suited characters finding exactly what they were looking for.

I adored Maya's fierceness and how she turned an impossible situation of coming back as a vampire into a form of the career she had as a human. For someone as closed off as she was, it was fun exploring the depths to who she was under that armor and how easily it was unveiled to Adam once he opened his own self up. Their dynamic was rife with secrets and walls, but it made their chemistry even stronger as they navigated them. Even as an older title of Eden's, I could still feel the essence of her writing style and it reminded me of how much I devoured and loved her version of PNR. It could have benefited with being a bit tighter story-wise, but overall was an enjoyable read I couldn't put down.

Haven't really read a good Vamp book for awhile now. This one was really good. I liked it. I really liked Maya she was such a strong female lead. Adam was sexy as hell and all alpha in the right way. The heat between them set my kindle on fire. Ouch! in a good way. They sorched up the sheets! I liked the plot and the story kept you reading to see what was going to happen. There was a slight twist on the end and the secondary charcter has his own book. I am going to check it out.

Good sexy action packed read! received a copy from the publisher through NetGalley.

ARC REVIEW

Night Watch #0.5, This is a prequel and it is a full length novel. I have read one other PNR by Cynthia Eden and as much as I love her Romantic Suspense I wasn't crazy over it, this one however was really good. A re-release originally published in '09 this urban fantasy/PNR centers around former cop Maya Black and tall, dark, and mysterious Adam Brody. Third person POV switches between the two. Maya was a beat cop who knew all about vampires she killed them when she could even when she was attacked herself she managed to kill the vampire but all it took was one time and a little bit of vampire blood in her mouth and she was one of them. Only difference now is that she is a vampire who kills her own kind, she keeps them in line. Adam Brody needs Maya's help, his niece has been kidnapped taken to be given to the master vampire upon his return. Maya and Adam rush about LA trying to find clues as to where his niece might be held along the way they deal with demons, voodoo priestess, vampires, and shifters. Their search takes them to Las Vegas where things get a wee bit more complicated.

I really did enjoy this one it was exciting and action packed and the characters are fantastic. I definitely want more. Maya is one tough cookie and even though she claims she's not a hero she is constantly doing things that contradicts that. Adam is a little harder to get bead on, he all dark and mysterious and aside from the insane sexual chemistry between them it's hard to get a feel for Adam because he's so closed off and you have to wait for about half the book to figure out what he is, after that it's was easier to see Maya and Adam connecting on a deeper level. Overall, this was a great book and a nice start and introduction into the world of the Night Watch series.

This was the first full book that I have read by this author. I think I may have read one of she short stories but honestly I cant remember. That being said I was pleasantly suprised by how much I enjoyed this book.

I like the fact that both the H/H were such strong characters was kinda nice. Yea Maya was a bad-ass and she took the lead in most cases . But I loved that. Made me look at Adam in a different light. Adam as so damn hot and so Alpha male that it made the pages for me steamy. But the nice thing about Adam was that he wasn't described as hot or Mr. GQ. Adam has that rough look that I find appealing . Poor Maya was getting hurt left and right in this book and just shook it off and moved on. Yea shes a vampire but sometimes she really got hurt. The thing that made Maya so likeable to me was that she didn't think of herself as a hero only a monster and yet time and time again she went out of her way to help others that weren't able to help themselves. That made me like her more than her kicking ass all over the place. Adam and Maya had some steamy sex and yea it was kinda annoying throughout the book that Maya kept calling Adam "Slick" but whatever. That was just her personality. Overall there was plenty of action. Lots of ass being kicked plenty of lovin going on . Seems that if Mrs. Eden wanted to continue this series she could. Luke and Sean could use their own books. Hint hint... lol

I wanted to like this one, I really did. It had great reviews. The plot sounded interesting. The heroine, Maya, is actually a strong capable female lead. This time it was Adam, our alpha male hero who was TSTL.

For someone who was supposed to be centuries old, he had no self control, was constantly acting out in fits of temper, and generally acted like a juvenile kid. One scene in particular he is riding on the back of her bike and to assuage his ego he rubs his erection against her while she's driving, with no sign from her it's welcome or wanted. Yeah, because unsolicited erection brushes didn't stop being sexy before high school right?

While Maya's cool calm and collected doing the job he hired he for, Adam's second guessing her every step trying to run head fist into danger rather than follow her lead. There was really nothing interesting or sexy about him. Calling him an alpha male is a misnomer.

Of course this means that I did not get the sexual attraction. I thought it happened too fast and as I didn't find anything attractive about Adam, I don't see what Maya found appealing about him.

Reading as far as I did was really pushing it. and I have no desire to push the bus with flat tires another inch down this rocky road. I am sure they will rescue the kid, otherwise, it's not much of a romance right... well it's not much of a romance anyway.

DNF at 47%.

Maya is just nonchalant about some things, “well, not like I can really judge, now can I? I mean, I’m a vampire and I’m a killer. I figure that pretty much makes us even.” Adam doesn't like his woman teasing him, “don’t play with me, Maya. You don’t want to rouse the beast.” I liked this book, I fell in love with Adam.

Immortal Danger by Cynthia Eden is the first book in the Night Watch series. This book is about family and loyalty.

Maya Black is a detective for hire. She was a police officer until one night she was turned against her will. She’s learned to trust no one. Now she is focused on work and surviving this supernatural world she now finds herself in. She is fiercely loyal, protective, and independent.

Adam Brody is a man full of mystery. His niece is taken and he’s had no luck in finding her and no clue as to where she could possibly be. He is confident, stern, attractive, and all alpha.

Adam seeks out Maya in hopes she may be the one able to find his niece, Cammie. He catches up to her in a feeding room, and asks for her services. They make terms and set a price, the deal is made. Before they start the hunt she has a few errands to run but he won’t let her out of his sight until he gets Cammie. They have an almost instant connection that starts small but builds over time. Part of the payment they agreed to was blood. Will she be able to stop after the first taste? Once the blood connection is made their bodies aren’t just drawn to each other, it becomes a primal need. When one touch leads to another and their passion takes over will it be easy to separate the job from the lust taking over all their instincts. They follow leads and race against time and deceit to save Cammie. Can they trust each other enough to pull off a win?

One of the things I enjoyed most was that there was more than one POV. It is mostly the two main characters but there are also side characters sprinkled in when relevent to the storyline. It gives a better sense of what is going on in intense scenes and is done seemlessly. I love reading about vampires and this added a little mystery and twist to the average vampire story. I can’t wait to read the rest of the series. It kept me on the edge of my seat wanting more. I would reccomend this to anyone who enjoys vampires or supernatural romances, it has action mixed in to keep things interesting too.

My Thoughts - 5 out of 5 Unicorns - I loved it!!!
***I choose what I read and review based on what intrigues me!! Yes, I received a review copy of this book, but no one tells me what to think, feel, or write about any book! I will be collecting this one, but not sure yet if it will be paperback or ebook.

The book has a new cover though I think I liked the old cover better.

This book in its old cover says this is part of the Night Watch series, but the new cover doesn’t mention it. It is for adults only due to the violence and steamy scenes.

Cynthia Eden has been added to my list of favorite paranormal authors. She always has complex worlds that are full of paranormals. She writes action-packed stories that I can’t put down. And this book is all of those things.

Maya is amazing! She was a cop who was attacked and changed by a vamp. She goes after bad guys and tries to protect the innocent. I love warrior women who good Samaritans! She meets Adam, and he needs her help to find his abducted niece Cammie, who is only 9. Like I said, this book is an action-packed page-turner that I couldn’t put down. There is so much going on and twists and turns that make for an amazing story. Adam has some mysteries of his own, and we learn about baggage that both of them are carrying around.

I highly recommend to any paranormal fan who loves complex paranormal worlds with tons of action and if you have loved any of Cynthia’s work! I can’t wait to read more of Cynthia’s work in the future!

So, 1. I hadn’t realized this was an erotic romance and the blurb calls it a paranormal novel, could tell from the cover it was romance - no surprise there.
2. I wasn’t looking for an erotic romance - so gets a point off for not being better labelled.

If you’re looking for this kind of read, it’s well written, the encounters are detailed so that the reader never need call on their own imagination and the sex is m/f with no hints of bdsm. I don’t mind an occasional detailed sex encounter in a book. I use the term erotic romance (it’s a thing) not for anything shocking about the coupling, more for the volume of the book devoted to it. Once they get past the ongoing lust and have sex, they’re always in lust or having sex with sprinkles of the storyline tying things together.

Mmmm, dragons.

I liked it, but I had a weird sense of deja-vu throughout. I feel like I read this before, but didn't mark it as read for some reason.
